That's an awful poster, the layout would be ok but whats he got Han Solo doing there? He's shrunk, waving his gun around like an OAP. Oh, and its teal and orange. Great.

I know right. Yuck. Teal and orange is sooooo 1977...

Yeah, it blue and orange but look at the layout, the energy. It's dynamic, mysterious, so much atmosphere. It recalls classic swashbuckling posters of old Hollywood. It also works in black and white.

The new poster is four characters, all roughly the same size just standing there (ok, Solo is acting up, angry at a bus driver or something).

I totally agree the composition isn't great. I was more making the point that objecting to an artist using "Teal and orange" paint on his brushes was a bit odd. I could also have said it's soooo 1888 ;-)

Neither of those posters have teal. Orange, yes, but teal?

I don't see it.

I've made it known before that I'm not the biggest Struzan fan. That said, the top half of this poster is not all that bad. I don't know what the hell he was thinking with the floating Han down at the bottom though... Terrible in terms of composition and horribly executed - a stiff, awkward pose and what looks like a cut-and-paste job with his head (with a pretty crappy likeness of Harrison Ford to boot - pretty shocking considering that's usually Struzan's strong point).

I dunno what it is with this notion that Drew Struzan is some integral John Williams or Ralph McQuarrie-like part of the fabric of Star Wars. He just isn't. Besides, couldn't Tom Jung and / or Roger Kastel also be tempted to come out of retirement?

"These deadly rays will be your death..."

I think we should all be glad that we actually got a painted poster, rather than some cheap photoshop with a tacky tagline like most movies do nowadays;

At least that's what we've been seeing from Abrams' films so far.

I also agree with DuracellEnergizer; where the heck to you guys see teal? It's orange and blue.

Also according to this webside; http://www.slashfilm.com/the-force-awakens-poster/ the poster is actually a D23 exclusive poster, meaning that there will probably be another poster in theatres come December.

Any thoughts on Colin Trevorrow having been confirmed as director of SW IX?

The grammar of that "The evil never ends. Just evolves" tagline makes me want to eat a gun. I'm not terribly sure if how I phrased that even works, but I'm also not making a damn poser.

Good thing it's only a fan poster then.

Elan is named in the credits. :)

Well, what do you know.
(I actually had to look the film up on YouTube to see if it was true. Also I haven't seen this film in roughly ten years.)

But not in the original credits!

So...we're still waiting for an explanation...

My thoughts are that there's a thread for it.

Very poor pose choice for Old Han in that poster. Possibly makes him look more old and frail than Ford in real life.

And when did the Falcon get a flux capacitor installed? ;)

With all this merchandise hitting stores well ahead of the movie, going shopping is going to be fraught with spoiler peril the next few months.
