Two new pieces of art of the X-wings in attack formation.

I find it odd that those x wings in the second picture have four engines instead of two. Maybe they're an older model?

Yeah those in the second pic would be the older (OT) model. It is very possible we'll still see some of the older X-Wings mixed in with the newer styles *crosses fingers* Very beautiful concept arts btw, just as we saw briefly in the teaser trailer.

I found this article and thought it was a very nice little read what Oscar Isaac says happened around the time Harrison Ford injured his leg...

He tells HuffPostUK: “JJ was in such high spirits, he was literally making jokes on the loudspeakers.

“We had a big schedule that day, but JJ stopped us all and he said, ‘Can everybody just stop and look at the moon right now?'

“He said, ‘Look how beautiful it is, and how lucky we all are to be here.’

“JJ knows what’s important, and he reminded us it was a beautiful experience. He made it very personal.”

This is something we cannot get our four-year-old to stop saying.

Just saying.

I wonder at what point he changed his mind and decided he wanted to make a third trilogy?

As they old saying goes from All The Presidents Men, "Follow the money!"

Lucas said an in interview on Charlie Rose in 2004 that his company was having financial problems in the early 90's.  His shareholders went to him and did a presentation on the financial effects of making the PT.  He then said (paraphrasing), "I could have walked away from SW right then and there, and would be free to make whatever movie I want to make, but I would always be reliant on the studio system.  The financial benefits of making the PT is that it would make my company independent and free from the Studio System forever."

Lucas was asked about his plan to make 9 movies again right before Episode 1 and he answered, "Ha-Ha, let me make this trilogy first!"  He could have easily said right then and there that the Saga is 6 movies.

Then I believe Lucas was fed up with everything after the PT, and didn't want any part of SW again in the form of movies.  But again:  Follow the money!

There was still a demand for SW (despite the PT), so he was either going to make Episode 7 and then sell, or just sell altogether and let someone else do the ST.  There is just too much money to made on SW to stop milking this cow, Lucas knows it, Disney knows it, we all know it.

Lucas wasted all those years developing a tv show that never happened,

and on Clone wars.  He sure spent a lot of time making only star wars for someone who hates it.

I have a feeling he wanted to make the tv series and the sequel trilogy and basically time was not on his side.

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

Both of those x-wing concept drawings feature the classic OT x-wings. It's just in one, you can see that they drew over the original round engine intakes and replaced them with the McQuarrie style semi-circular intakes.

They look like storyboards and probably just used the old design as a place holder. It's possible they just went back and altered the intakes to be more in line with the final in-film design after the storyboard was already drawn for some reason.

It has been clarified by the artist that these are not concept drawings, but drawings based on VII. Professional fan art, basically. The way he phrased it suggests that he has produced art based on more than just the trailer we've seen, but that obviously we're not going to see that art at this point as that material is still confidential.

The trailer was pretty cool, and I like the imagery I'm seeing so far.  At the very least, Abrams has the ability to tell a good line reading from a bad one, which is important when making a movie.

Would you believe I had to Google that to get the reference?  But yeah, exactly.  I honestly think that Lucas is autistic spectrum, and doesn't recognize human emotions very well.  It would explain a lot.

But if that were true, then we would probably feel bad for giving him such a hard time. Therefore it's obviously untrue ;)

I think if Lucas has any mental disorder, it'd be ADD.

Speaking of ADD, I have no issues with the ABOMINATIONSABER, and I think a rolling ball-droid makes a hell of a lot more sense in the desert than R2-D2's tiny RC vehicle wheels.

I just wish they'd have gone with McQuarrie's rolling R2 design. With all the other McQuarrie stuff being used, it's extra disappointing to me.

I think the phrase ABOMINATIONSABER was being thrown around to convey geekrage about the Sith crossguard lightsaber.  Doesn't bother me.

Does anyone remember outrage about Darth Maul's double ended saber?  It seems like any new thing can get some rage going.

I love McQuarrie art.  I had the original published portfolio set of concept art prints when I was a kid.  This one damn near made me lose my mind:

Leaks don't come from magical flying elves. They should check their own people before going after someone who posts an image on the interwebs. Once it's out there, it's not going away, no matter how much they want it to.

Seriously, I think law enforcement has more important things to do than chase down some fanboy who posted a picture, because Disney gets their Mickey Mouse shorts in a bunch.

I imagine that's exactly what they might be hoping for here. Getting the IP address and name of the original uploader might (if they're fairly lucky) show them an internal leaker.

They don't have that option when it comes to leak sources like Tmz, who essentially specialize in nothing but getting/protecting sources, and leaking things. But if they believe an imageshack upload is the original source of a leak, and imageshack will cave and give them an IP that could belong to one of their employees, I can see why they'd go for it.

Meanwhile, Sexy Darth Vader crowdsourcing remains uninterrupted. :/

It still doesn't follow my comment on ADD.

Perhaps some clarification on your part is in order?
