I actually have this 2 CD set plus I have the "Phantom Menace" Behind The Scenes disc as well.  I also have the "Millennium Falcon CD-Rom Playset" CD as well but I don't know that if there is anything relevant on it that can be used for stuff.

You mean "Behind the Magic" (1998) and "Episode I Insider's Guide" (1998)?

I have the former, but not the latter. The "Lost Scenes" is taken directly from BTM Cd-Rom.

I'm hoping someday, somebody will release a "restored" version of those scenes, removing the accumulated dirt, scratches, smudges, etc. and do something about the faded color (heck, one could even "colorize" the alternate Cantina sequence and dub in the proper background noise, but please keep the alternate dialog!).

So anybody working on further restoration of these scenes? (Yes, I'm working on getting Deleted Magic:R).

Incidentally, I have now seen the (dialog-less) additional droid scene (with Luke & Biggs in the background). Could this one be added to a future version of the "The Lost Scenes"? The quality looks excellent.

I just wanted to thank you, MoveAlong for making such a beautiful job on this DVD, very tastefully and professionally done disc, the menus and artwork is among the best I've seen on a fanmade DVD and the scenes look excellent on my TV. Thank you!

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

Had a sad thought the other day. So many people do so much work and I remember the delight I had when I finally got to view this disc! (Then I discovered I'd downloaded the PAL version and had to go hunting for an NTSC. But that's immaterial.)

The other day, when I read the news of the Blu-ray set, one of my first thoughts was that MoveAlong's hard work might finally be replaced by something better. That, if the new set carries through on its promise, then we could finally have the best possible quality for these and other scenes.

I'm not holding my breath.

But it would be my fifth time buying each of the classic trilogy: VHS, Faces VHS, SE VHS, and the initial DVD release. And having this material would probably push me over the fence into buying it again.

Let me close by saying thank you.

Thank you, MoveAlong, for your remarkable work. Even if it is overshadowed, I'll keep a copy around and continue to be grateful.

Just wanted to mention again what may have been the shining moment for the Lost Scenes DVD, as a credit to MoveAlong's fine work:

At Celebration 4, I had a press pass and was able to use it to get backstage prior to a panel featuring actors from the cut scenes, including Garrick Hagon (Biggs) and Anthony Forrest (Fixer).  I just happened to have MoveAlong's DVD with me, and after some fast talking and a quick demonstration of the material's quality, I was able to get the DVD played on the big screen during the panel...to the pleasant surprise of the actors present.

I think this was the ultimate tribute to the fine job MoveAlong did on the entire presentation, menus and all.  If his work ends up being outdone by an official release next year, at least it had some time in the limelight.
