First, thanks Slug for finding them for me. Second, regarding Falle, this was a bootleg release that was made, I read it about it on a site but I have no idea where. I thought those covers looked really good, and was hoping someone would find them. I'd like to see new high res versions - maybe backgrounds more like the one in the hi-res shown below?
And maybe even take out the SE tags/info (as in the never-before-seen-footage tag), "widescreen" thing at top (replace it with something similar to what's shown below), and replace the other info with what it corresponds to in most sets? I'm planning on using these for the RTW (dr. m's moth3r conversion)/EditDroid hybrid I'm making for myself. If you would do that I'll be your new best friend. EDIT: hi-res (sortof) ANH for you all so you know what they look like in better-than-scan quality.
Yeah, not so great scans. I didn't have any time to clean them up, let alone crop them. They were mailed to me with the covers folded over the discs, so they looked a bit cruddy when I got them in the first place. They are a cool looking set though that could use a little TLC. Have fun with them!
I think it was a laserdicsc rip, so I'm betting yes; however, I don't have the set (as good as it looks I can't find it), so I can't give you a forsure answer.

I have copies of those. I got them in 2002, since I had thought at the time that Ep. IV-VI weren't being released on DVD until 2005. I agree that they aren't so great quality-wise (they aren't anamorphic like the package said, and the colors are a bit washed out), but I kept them just to have the 1997 versions on DVD. They served me well for the 2 years leading up to the 2004 DVD releases, and as an added bonus ROTJ even had awesome "Backstroke of the West" style subtitles (Fire moons and Empresses and Admiral Edbaby, oh my!)
I am looking for alternative covers for my 5-star 1997 SE discs. I'd like something that really emulates the look of the original SE laserdiscs or videotapes. Can anybody suggest any covers that would fit the bill?
Sluggo, I think you were working on something like this once... am I right?

That's definitely way better than the crap they packaged with the 5-Star Collection discs. I'm in favor of it!
I ordered my copies from Singapore way back when it looked like Star Wars wasn't coming out on DVD for a long, long time. It was like 10 bucks a disc, postage included I think. But the media they used is crap, and the discs always gave my players fits. Now my current player won't read ESB or ROTJ at all. Luckily my work PC does, so it's time I did a backup.
