I wonder if Obi-wan will be in this show.

I heard only 5 minutes, the rest is Ahsoka, Luke, Anakin, Tarkin, Mon Mothma, etc.

I heard that he makes a cameo in episode 4

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

Don’t forget about Din appearing with his mandalorian teammates too

They wasted no time announcing this after the Book of Boba finale aired.

Oh I hope this show is good … I have to admit I was a bit let down with Bad Batch and Boba (not saying they are bad/trash/etc. … just a bit let down.)

I agree. Thankfully there are some fresh writers on this series I believe, and a director who has really proven herself with some of the best episodes of The Mandalorian. I’m still iffy on the idea of Vader and Obi-wan duelling again, but I’ve come to accept it will happen, and have a lot of hope for the series in general.

Latest rumour is that we will see Rupert Friend playing the Grand Inquisitor from Rebels. I think he’s a great pick, but it’s a shame they couldn’t get Jason Isaacs to reprise the role.

It’s a problem if the new isn’t good.

Exactly. I know that the Star Wars fandom has a serious toxicity problem, but some fans recently have been going the polar opposite direction: Acting like Star Wars is a perfect flawless franchise and everyone who criticizes it is a toxic hater. Every franchise has flaws, especially Star Wars, and this mindless “enjoy everything with the Star Wars logo on it” mindset really isn’t healthy.

For example, I like The Last Jedi a lot more than most of the fandom, but I would never try to stop people from criticizing it (unless they were being an ass about it). Similarly, I dislike Rogue One a lot more than most of the fandom, but I would never try to stop people from praising it. Is it really that hard to just let opinions exist without trying to convince people that your opinion is the only objectively correct one?

My preferred Skywalker Saga experience:
I II III IV V VI VII VIII IX

Exactly. It’s about remaining civil and respecting everyone has a different point of view on Star Wars. However at the same time it’s important to recognise there’s flaws. Even in the Original Trilogy. I’m no gatekeeper but continuing to make Star Wars appeal to a mass audience I think is going to make this more and more of an issue where you see lifelong fans silenced in favour of more casual fans who have a limited understanding of where Star Wars came from and what it originally meant.

Again I’m glad there’s people who are finding joy in the new but if you don’t respect what came before you risk alienating a lot of people who you could have on your side too.

Unpopular Opinion: I truly wish they had followed George’s story treatments for VII, VIII, and IX and did the spinoffs. Afterwards they could then start to make things for a mass audience as it would’ve given lifelong fans closure and new fans something fresh at the same time. Star Wars would sell regardless but more successfully I think if the past had been respected before moving onto new ways of viewing things.

“Heroes come in all sizes, and you don’t have to be a giant hero. You can be a very small hero. It’s just as important to understand that accepting self-responsibility for the things you do, having good manners, caring about other people - these are heroic acts. Everybody has the choice of being a hero or not being a hero every day of their lives.” - George Lucas

Exactly, this isn’t an Oscar movie, it’s not supposed to be The Godfather, or anything like that, it’s just Star Wars. It’s like kids playing outside with their Star Wars toys, it’s supposed to be mindless fun, not a serious drama with a perfect script

I think they did a good job, could it have been better, sure. I think the fan base is split on this one, but don’t take it so serious, it’s supposed to be a space western with familiar characters that we love and know.

Yes, Star Wars won Oscars back then, I was just trying to get my point across.

I have no problem if its prequel fanfiction for the prequel fans. They get to see Hayden as Anakin/Vader again, and Ewan as Obi Wan. And hopefully its a better handling of those characters than what the sequels did the OT characters. Of course it could be garbage. But i’m cautiously optimistic and i am not a huge prequel person.

I think Disney Lucasfilm is giving the fans what they think they want, I.E. Boba Fett and Young Luke Skywalker. But nothing they do seems to not get the ire of fans. Either its too different like last jedi or too fanservicey.

Honestly i admire Rian he said its about the story not about the fans. Once you get to making shows or movies off a fan wishlist, what is the point. You aren’t telling a story you are checking off boxes. Last Jedi is the sole thing they’ve done that is interesting to me, in terms of character.

Author
Time

It isn’t a wishlist. Fans just want good stories that doesn’t mess the characters and the universe that was established before. If the new story is well written and the new characters are well-built, people will like it, old or new fans. It’s not that hard (unless the people in charge doesn’t has a clue about what to do with the characters/story).

If Obi-Wan encounters R2-D2, I’m not sure which I’d prefer…

“Get out of my way, random droid! I don’t have time for random droid nonsense.”

or

“Wow, hello there, old friend. Good to see you again. But next time we see each other, let’s pretend we’ve never met.”

My stance on revising fan edits.

I think R2 will help Kenobi keep Leia safe, but it will be 11 years later he will see him again, and the droid doesn’t belong to him, it belongs to Senator Bail Organa.

R2 trusts Kenobi completely, so the droid will say anything to get to him.

There’s a rumor going around that the Emperor might make an appearance in Kenobi. I think it’s possible, Vader always answers the Emperor’s messages.

Ian McDiarmid said we could see more of the Emperor. I not only see him doing a cameo for the Kenobi series, but possibly in the big finale of these current and future Star Wars series on Disney+

What do you all think?

Would you like to see him reprise his role in other Star Wars projects?

Author
Time

I can see him doing a cameo in the series, maybe one or two scenes. As long as he doesn’t take the spotlight away much because ultimately this story isn’t really about him.

It’ll be cool to see Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine again, and they might as well - the series is shaping up to be the ultimate fan service fest anyway.

Imagine if ‘you should not have come back’ was actually Vader referring to the Death Star. I mean why not. Throw in Palpatine, CGI Tarkin, CGI Leia.

Author
Time

I think if this series focuses as much on Anakin/Vader as it seems to be an appearance by Ol’ Sheevy is inevitable. I for one welcome our Sith Overlord.
