Could we maybe use the new Video Enhance AI software method to enhance the current Adyan Editions till HD versions are about ? 🤔

Sure that would be feasible.

I rather would wait for ANH and ROTJ in 720p and the artifacts free ESB and AI scale all three movies up to 1080p or even 4k.

I’d love to use Topaz Video Enhance AI on Adywans current releases but sadly my little HTPC’s CPU is not beefy enough to use the software

I’m looking to do the same thing. For now I haven’t the funds to buy a desktop PC until I got rid of my laptops. Luckily adywans edit will take some time and so we’re in a comfortable position. Especially if we look at the cpu and gpu market right now 😃

Hey, thanks!
I don’t think the idea suits the ideas behind Ady’s edit, but I’d love to see it come to life someday.

I got to admit that the pacing in the beginning of the film never worked for me. It starts off with Vader arriving in the DSII, then it cuts to Tatooine at Jabba’s palace rescuing Han where they get captured and fight at the Sarlaac pit for about 30 minutes, then the core of the story gets back on track on Dagobah with the Yoda and Obi-Wan scenes.

I got to admit that the pacing in the beginning of the film never worked for me. I also doubt that ady would implement something like this (he’s said in the past no deleted scenes) but it sounds cool for another edit. However i agree the pacing is a bit weird in the original. it doesn’t feel like the first half of the movie has anything todo with second so they chopped up the middle and sprinkled it all over the first act. the edit would also help with the whole luke not finishing his training but we do miss the whole “what i told you was true, from a certain point of view” which isn’t a good explination but its better than totally avoiding it. i would say that it would be better if it happened on endor tho. think about it, we open on dagubah, luke saying goo bye to yoda, then rather than luke just meeting obi wan there he would be stuck waiting, having not talked to him since esb, perhaps because obiwan is waiting till luke is ready. So luke would be struggling with anger the whole movie and make that moment he overcomes his anger way more powerful becasue he would have a more evident reason to be angry - obi wan was ignoring him for months/years - then when on endor when he is preparing to leave, he meets obiwan, who explains everything, tells him about leia and then we get the convo with her.
that way we have a more grounded opening before moving into tatooine and the ds scenes would feel less out of place because we could cut to vader after yoda says “you must face vader” (i think thats what he says). it would also work intercut with the tatooine sequence as it would explain where luke is and why they did the plan how they did, perhaps luke was going to be more active but he had to go see yoda again as he was dying. but they tried to go ahead with the plan without him, so he comes back late.
why not wait?? well they don’t know if han is still alive in there and he was coming closer to death everyday, hibernation sickness, (which temporarily blinds him) could have been worse with more time and could kill him. so they didn’t know what yoda wanted or if luke would be back for training for a long time (im guessing that luke did more training between the two movies, but had to leave to find a crystal for his saber).

but yeah that was way longer than i was planning, i think the pacing can never be perfect on rotj, but its not that good rn, so it could be changed for the better. (im not saying what ive said is better, but in my head it works, need to test it to be sure oc, one day … one day)

So, not to promote my fanedit, but in my ROTJ version, the order goes like this:

  1. Vader arrives at DSII
  2. Luke with Yoda/Obi-Wan scene at Degobah
  3. Palpatine arrives at DSII
  4. Tatooine sequence
  5. Rebel Alliance meet up

I suppose it may be possible to break up the Tatooine sequence a little more so it’s not as drawn out as it is.

Howard Day’s channel has some amazing Star Wars CGI shorts - he has really captured the scale model feel. This is definitely my favoirite and just looks like part of RotJ - https://youtu.be/KIHwQyvVdVY.

Or this, part of the DS1 trench run -

Wonder if any his stuff will make it into the Revisited editions?

Thanks for bringing attention to this, along with what Adrian has created this is the best fan-made work I’ve seen done. It feels authentic to the early 80s and ‘of a piece’ with the original trilogy, and doubtless could be refined still further to fit in seamlessly with Revisited. I too would love to see an Adywan and Howard Day collaboration!

On this particular, and sad, day I’d also throw in my tuppence on the unmasking of Vader in ROTJ and Dave Prowse.

He may not have had the right voice (thankfully James Earl Jones did) but imho he certainly had the right look and could have and should have been the face of Vader at the finale of Jedi.

Even as a child the ‘kindly grandfather’ appearance and English thespian vocal delivery of Sebastian Shaw didn’t fit my expectation of what Vader should look or sound like. With the Prequel Trilogy casting an American actor ‘the English gent’ vocal delivery seems even more incongruous.

As we know from the documentary ‘I Am Your Father’ Dave Prowse filmed the unmasking sequence, I think if Adywan could get the blessing from the filmmakers to use it then it would be a massive coup for ROTJ Revisited, and perhaps… right a wrong for an actor that really deserved his moment without the mask.

Oh, thats not really something I hoped to hear when I woke up this morning, but then again I’d never hope to hear Prowse’s passing.

I couldn’t agree more with most of what you’ve said however I don’t know how on earth you think Adywan is going to be able to get hold of that footage. Like they probably deleted it right after Disney’s lawyers started knocking at their door.

Also, Ady is keeping the Shaw ghost. It’d be weird to switch unmasked Vader but keep the Shaw ghost. Either do a “Prowse ghost” (which probably isn’t possible with extant footage) or keep it Shaw.

Haha! Idk, it would be kind of like a rogues gallery of Darth Vaders!

I’d say Prowse bears more than a passing resemblance to both Hayden Christensen, and in ‘profile’ he actually looks rather like his future on-screen grandson Adam Driver!

David Prowse was decades too old to play Anakin when they filmed the documentary. It’s not an option, even if it was available.

Sebastian Shaw was 77 years old when he filmed the unmasking. Dave Prowse was 78 when he filmed I Am Your Father.

/\ In truth that speaks more to Shaw being miscast in the first place than it does to a 78 year old Prowse being right.

But my point remains that I think Prowse had a better face for Vader under the mask than Shaw did, and for what it’s worth I also think he had ‘a better right’ to be Vader, to be seen just once on the big screen without that mask on - but that’s a sentimental viewpoint and perhaps it has no place in the movie business.

If there was some way to put Prowse in that position in Revisited it would be cool, and the documentary reshoot footage might potentially provide that, but I understand the difficulties might be insurmountable…

So in TESB when you see the back of Vader’s head when the helmet is being lowered, who was that portraying him? Was that Prowse?
