I’d feel like she had been possessed.

It seemed to me that Palpatine meant he was “all the Sith” fairly literally, as he made an explicit analogy to how he intended to essentially possess Rey.

Rey seemed to retort rhetorically, as she has the support and heritage of the Jedi of the past and will carry forward those ideals.

And yeah, this morning was an emotional ride! I stayed calm but I was really worried about the project. If it was just something I was doing in isolation I could’ve just said “fuck’s sake” and moved on. But there’s been a huge investment from all of you into it.

This is only a test of Obi-Wan saying Jedi over Rey’s line, can be done a lot better. Would be more apparent and clearer if completed.

I’m interested in the concept but I agree with Hal, it’s a bit unclear what’s going on without explanation and she sounds possessed.

Yeah, it’s character and story-wise wrong, like Hal said. But then it’s too loud (and wrong) or too quiet (and thus pointless) either way you edit it.

Well, the same thing is happening with my computer this morning. That’s obviously not a good sign. I did export everything so any Mac would let me continue on from where I am at this point.

The “Weak. Like your parents” line could still work in a movie where they were scumbag nobodies. I like that.

It works even better in fact.

If I’m patient with eBay I might be able to snag a 2011 Mac Mini for under $200. I could use my existing SSD and RAM even, if either are missing.

But I’ll wait first to see if it comes to that. Certainly wouldn’t be an upgrade, just a replacement with something equally long in the tooth.

Hal what was it about the new FCPX that you didn’t like?

It was a while ago that I tired it in earnest for anything serious, but it seemed impossible to keep a separate video and audio file together because things keep jostling around.

I don’t know; if it’s all I have I’m sure I can manage. I will miss fine detail with 30 audio tracks and stuff like that.

Lesson 3 - Got cut from The Last Jedi, thought this could be cool. Was suggested to me by my friend JXeditor,

I like the idea of adding the lesson 3 to TROS, but, in defense of the lack of a third lesson in TLJ…

Rey’s third lesson is something she “learns” on her own. Don’t nail your destiny on anyone, or you’ll be disappointed. Basically.
But more importantly; screw this religion with its specific rules and lessons. She metaphorically doesn’t NEED a third lesson taught to her in the old Jedi way, because its about doing things your own way for the greater good. Not following a specific, flawed guideline. Something like that.

The “third lesson” was that scene in the TLJ novelization (it was in the deleted scenes too) where Luke claims that the Caretaker village is being invaded by pirates. He tells Rey that a true Jedi wouldn’t save them, but Rey runs off anyway. Once she gets there, she finds that it was actually a big party all along. Luke tells her that it was supposed to be a lesson on how Jedi beliefs don’t matter anymore, but Rey gets pissed and storms away.

Some fan edits have added that scene back into the movie, but Hal’s didn’t, so Cinefy’s idea was supposed to be another way of incorporating a third lesson into the trilogy.

Yup, hopefully Hal adds the line.

Well… hell and damn. That’s a huge bummer to hear, Hal! If worst comes, and if you’re comfortable with it, I’m sure the fine people of this board wouldn’t have a problem with doing a bit of fundraising to help get you a new computer.

If there’s anything else people can do to help out, monetarily or otherwise, please do shout out!

Thanks, and I’ve already had a PM come in offering to chip in.

To replace the machine without any upgrade in specs or a more recent model could possibly be snagged for about $200 with patience. If people want to donate that could certainly be done. Of course, as a personal thing I’d still eventually need to upgrade in due time, but it’d restore things to working order for now.

If I can find any 2011 Mac Mini, I can dig any crappy old keyboard and mouse out of the trash and I have a monitor. If it’s a 2011 Mini, I can even use my current RAM chips.

Can’t wait for the Rey nobody version so I can avoid the troubling implications of Palpatine having children, clone or otherwise. 🙂

Also the point of Rey being nobody is so she would define her own destiny and stop relying on her lineage to define it for her.

Right now the current state of the video steam lies within FCPX, so if the computer does manage to boot again, I’ll try to remove the applied LUTs and export the video.

But, another Mac should be able to let me restore from a Time Machine backup and resume from there without issue.

^ Is applying LUTs possible in iMovie? I’m only using a MacBook Air so I don’t know if my computer can even do it. Only asking because there’s a few scenes I’ll want to re-insert (lightspeed skipping, “sassy” Finn, Rey using the dagger to see the wreckage, etc.) and I’ll need to color match them :S

I know. If this third lesson scene was in TLJ, then the lesson would be… things don’t appear how they seem. She’s already learned that from Luke ending up being a hermit instead of the epic Jedi she (and we) all thought he would be. I suppose it is a major theme in the film, but it’s unnecessary to do this again, when Rey has already been unintentionally taught this lesson from the very beginning of the film. And whole the setting of her going to like a fun Caretaker party is just one I don’t really like, honestly lol.

So in the context of the film without that scene, I think what I took from it still stands. Rey’s third lesson is one you don’t need to be sat down on a rock and told, like a typical Jedi Master and Padawan. That aspect of the Jedi should be gone. It leads to horror every time. Or something like it. Or maybe I’m completely wrong and some edits are way better with that scene included; I haven’t seen many for TLJ outside of Hal’s!

Actually, the donating idea makes sense. I mean, a lot of us waits to See your version of TROS to have a respectful ending of the saga.

I’m just a lurker here, but definitely +1 for the crowdfunding/donation idea. 😃
