I get that Luke and Rey used it for extended periods of time, I just think it’s strange to call it their’s when Anakin also used it and built it. If all three used it, why wouldn’t the named ownership go to the one who built it and first used it? This makes even more sense given that Luke and Rey both built their own sabers.

Especially when the color of the blade comes from the crystal harmonising with the person building the saber.

Changing her saying “brother” to “father” would be difficult considering you can see her lips move. Overall I think it’s just unnecessary given that there’s far more important edits to be done on this project.

Luke prominently reclaimed his identity as expressed through that lightsaber at the end of TLJ. And TROS needs for that to be his saber for its story, so I don’t think it’d be a good idea to try to obscure that.

I still don’t really feel it’s necessary to score the arrival of the fleet, and I agree it’s a bit too triumphant for the scene.

And I don’t really care what something says about the length of the Clone Wars. Nothing in the movies states the passage of time except AOTC, anyway. I choose to assume more like 40 years pass between ROTJ and TFA. Why not? Either way, let’s either move the conversation elsewhere or let it alone.

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

Found any good sounds for the light saber crackling hum for Rey Hal? I recall you were looking for a new sound to use.

“Because you are a PalpaWalker?”

I currently already have the entire movie edited together with the existing sound, so that’s ready to go unless something compellingly better comes up. I just pitch shifted Kylo’s crackling saber up a little. It only needs to be a subtle effect, so it’s not super audible very often. There was a clip of just the sound a couple pages back, but I don’t have any footage yet to show the whole thing together.

FWIW, I think it’s just a tad abrupt cutting out Poe’s line about 3PO’s volume control, so I’m going to just leave it alone.

3PO is just a toaster to him. :’(

And just so everyone knows, in case you did not… Snooker sent me an updated version of the Naboo shot after seeing workprint #4. Just so everyone is on the same page, here is the most recent clip I have from her, in context:

Would be cool if Naboo starfighter passed by.

I can get Battlefront II model if Snooker wants it.

I think Snooker said that she tried it, but it didn’t work well. Because of how small the Naboo fighters are in comparison to a Star Destroyer, they were barely noticeable.

I do really like that latest clip though. I think it’s pretty much perfect, I have no nitpicks at all.

With the Naboo clip all I think one would have to do is slow down the entire shot by half and it would fit sooo much better.

Understandable. I wonder if Poe’s line could be altered is some way, but I’m not much more than an interpreter and not very knowledgeable about such things.

Sorry for the quick small posts but should the shot change from Coruscant to Naboo right on the swell of the music? I don’t know if that type of editing works for a film, my only experience is Music Videos

JEDIT: Or a beat after where it comes in would work too

The purpose of the shot’s inclusion in the first place was to not have to mangle the music edit due to moving the Endor shot earlier in the film, I’m not sure there’s a way to make that work smoothly.

You wouldn’t adjust the audio at all, just shortening or lengthening different shots, leaving the audio alone.

I think they have limited shot lengths anyway, as even these created shots are based on existing footage.

Right I see what you mean. It’s not uncommon to edit “off-beat” for sequences like this, but could probably be easily done if Hal stretches that shot out a bit like he’s suggesting. It’s not a biggy to me though ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I think it would flow better if Coruscant and Naboo were switched. Having two sunsets back to back subconsciously implies close proximity of the planets (something that’s rife in the sequel trilogy). Also, if you switch them, we go from the bright centre of the universe to Jakku (nowhere) reminiscent of Luke’s comment in ANH.

Id be interested in any models, if you don’t mind

This makes sense to me. I believe it would be more cathartic if the music swell matched the last time we see Coruscant and the Jedi Temple.
