I never saw that giant bug in Jabba’s palace before!
I don’t think it was in the palace. Pretty sure that’s the creature that tries to scurry away in the desert before getting eaten by the frog with teeth.

Is that rebel pilot in green picking up a Ewok?
Where were you in '77?
^ I think he is, though I don’t remember seeing that in the film. May have ot give it another watch soon 😃
a few more unsorted images from ROTJ:

and some years after ROTJ, but still a cool pic:
I don’t recall this pic before, maybe an unused promo poster? Or for a later game or other merchandise?

That headless guy in the middle is really freaking me out.
I’m guessing he moved his head while the camera was set to a slow shutter speed? Either that, or someone did a really lousy Photoshop job removing his face for whatever reason.

His head was shopped off I guess. I wonder why?

Maybe it’s an edit for photos used for signatures at cons? And this crewmember wants money for photos sold with him in it. Still some bad Soviet Union era airbrushing out of his head though.
And that photo of George with the Yoda cap is priceless! I remember ads for that hat in Starlog magazine. 😃

What is this model of? It kinda looks like lava running out the side of a mountain???

I think it might have been intended for Palpatine’s lair, before they realized that an enormous lava cave would go way over budget, and decided to make the throne room part of the Death Star.

You sure that’s not something from Temple of Doom?
And why does that fellow on the right look like he’s nervously lighting an exploding cigarette for his buddy?

Rinzler’s Making of ROTJ claims it’s a test model for the Emperor’s lava cave. Though now that you mention it, a comparison with the model used for the lava sacrifice pit in Temple of Doom (particularly the deleted scene with the death of Chattar Lal) might be instructive.

^ That colorful poster was a mail in promotion for Hi-C fruit drinks …a friend of mine had it when we were kids .I remember I thought it was cool but wondered why Luke seemed to be looking away from Vader while fighting him .

Thanks Screams. It was starting to frustrate me trying to work it out! 😃
You are spot on about Luke too, I didn’t even notice that before!

I think the thing that gets eaten is a rat with a long tail… And the frog with teeth isn’t what eats it, the frog with teeth is what barks at Leia when she brings Chewie in.
I’ve see that bug, but only in BTS photos.
The frog that eats the rat isn’t in the pic. It’s hardly in any pics…

Because there’s an EVEN BIGGER Darth Vader behind the regular sized one!!
Bigger Vader hypothesis confirmed

Have anyone seen any photos of this droid before? The post said it was from ROTJ, but I couldn’t spot it in the torture droid scene, so this is either a background character that didn’t make the cut or they replaced it with another design at some point.
This droid is seen very briefly in two scenes. The first is when the commotion starts as Boushh and Chewbacca arrive at Jabba’s Palace.
The droid is seen full length from the back on the left hand side of the screen at the wall.
The second time is when Chewbacca slings the guard down the steps. On the left of the screen is a close up of the back of the head. The droid looks right and you can see the pincer mouth.
This is so cool! I have the books, “The Making of Star Wars”, “The Making of The Empire Strikes Back”, and “The Making of Return of the Jedi”. Some of these photos are in the books. You guys should check them out. 😃 They are on Amazon.
