Apolgies for bumping this old thread - I am struggling to motivate myself during the lockdown to do much, if any, exercise…

I was shocked to find that walking to the fridge to get a beer doesn’t count! In the UK we’re allowed out for an hour a day for exercise - which is something I am doing every day. But beyond that - nothing!

Any tips, ideas or help out there for people stuck indoors most of the time? (with no exercise equipment to speak of)

The FE Renegades thread; from the people who post ‘go kill yourself’, ‘fuck you’, ‘let’s throw abuse’, and more at OT staff & members. Four years on and still throwing accusations, slurs and abuse at the OT & anyone outside their Salacious Crumb filled clique. + FE Discord “to vent” more at the OT. Wook’s take.

I have to admit my fitness level has decreased over the past 2/3 months - even going for a brisk 30 minute walk can leave me a little short on breath.

Soon we will be able to do more - maybe get a cycle and do that, go outdoors and see some scenery, instead of the inside of the same 4 walls, and get fitter while doing this 😃

Starting in around January I decided to do some daily wrist exercises for my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and while I was at it I decided to start doing pushups. For context I couldn’t do a single pushup when I started, just half-pushups with my upper body. But by the end of April I could do over 40 full pushups in a row, as well as some simple weightlifting and wrist exercises. Carpal Tunnel is much improved and I feel better. Last month I was dealing with some stomach mess, probably IBS, which knocked out my desire to exercise, but that cleared up by the end of the month and I started the pushups again. Now I’m back up to 22 at once in just a week or so.

My tip is to find a place where you won’t be bothered and make the time every day to do the exercises, even if it’s at 3:00 in the morning and you really just want to go to bed. It only takes me 15 minutes to do a full range of exercises and even if you don’t feel like it you can almost certainly do a little bit. At least that’s what I have been telling myself and it’s mostly been working so far, IBS hiatus notwithstanding.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

I recently started walking to my local park each day, when the weather isn’t awful. It is a 20 minute walk each way, and spend another 20 minutes there just sitting on the bench and taking in the views. No looking at mobile, tablets, or screens, just turn them off for the duration.

I’m starting to feel better for it. I may even break into a slow run one day soon, when the weather is ok.

“Don’t tell anyone… but when ‘Star Wars’ first came out, I didn’t know where it was going either. The trick is to pretend you’ve planned the whole thing out in advance. Throw in some father issues and references to other stories - let’s call them homages - and you’ve got a series.” - George Lucas
