Sorry to be nitpicky, but the last sentence is a fragment. Here’s a quick fix:

Meanwhile, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren,
determined to destroy any threat to
his rule and haunted by visions in
the FORCE, seeks the hidden power of
his former master…

To be even more nitpicky lol… since we’re keeping Mustafar perhaps adding that in at the end

Episode IX
THE RISE OF SKYWALKER

The galaxy has united after the
heroic sacrifice of Luke Skywalker.
Countless systems have taken a stand
in the name of RESISTANCE.

To suffocate this growing uprising, the
tyrannical FIRST ORDER has silenced all
communication between neighboring systems.

Meanwhile, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren,
determined to destroy any threat to
his rule and haunted by visions in
the FORCE, seeks a hidden power on the planet Mustafar…

I like explaining how Kylo is feeling first, then his actions and intentions. It just feels like it flows… better-ish.

The Skywalker Saga:
I · II · III · IV · V · VI · VII · VIII · IX
This is the way.

Hey Hal, out of curiosity, whoever makes the crawl, (I both can’t make one nor write one) could there be a few alternates based on a Mustafar removal or not?

Not that you have to have multiple versions, but the crawls in your edits look so good and I would like to use yours as a base but will most likely remove the Mustafar Minute and use what Popa did.

Bravo my friend, this is awesome and is 71 words!

I spruced Hal’s draft crawl up a tad, fought the commas, and made it more star-warsy:

The galaxy is united. After the heroic sacrifice of Luke Skywalker, countless systems have taken a stand in the name of RESISTANCE.

To suffocate this growing uprising, the tyrannical FIRST ORDER has silenced all communication between neighboring systems.

Meanwhile, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren is haunted by visions. Determined to destroy any threat to his rule, he seeks a powerful artifact hidden on the planet Mustafar. . . .

Are we still determined to keep the “silenced all communication” thing from Trevorrow’s script? I feel like it doesn’t have much relevance here, and it’s contradicted by Lando’s message reaching the entire galaxy.

My preferred Skywalker Saga experience:

I think the novel uses this to explain why there are so few members of the Resistance and how the First Order gained so much territory in the year since TLJ. And it gives a little bit of weight to Poe’s comment to Zori about no one listening, it wasn’t because they weren’t listening it’s because the First Order stopped them from listening.

It fits because that’s why Lando has to fly out and rally the troops himself. No long range communications. I would also be fine with Hal removing it and adding something about Leia because it would also be a shame to remove her from the crawl.

EDIT: Here, I inserted a different middle part:

The galaxy is united. After the heroic sacrifice of Luke Skywalker, countless systems have taken a stand in the name of RESISTANCE.

General Leia Organa, sensing a sinister presence, dispatched many spies deep into the UNKNOWN REGIONS. But none were ever heard from again.

Meanwhile, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren is haunted by visions. Determined to destroy any threat to his rule, he seeks a powerful artifact hidden on the planet MUSTAFAR. . . .

And Babu’s reaching Jannah.

Here’s an update to the Tie Replacement on Exogol:
https://vimeo.com/420155526
pw: fanedit

I spent a lot of time staring at lightning flicker at 800% scale, so I could just be going mad, but I think it’s pretty close! If anyone sees any issues, please let me know. I made the shuttle a little bit bigger, but also curious how the scale feels.

omg that really does look badass and so much cooler than the TIE.

It’s looking better and better.

Would it be tough to try and make it more “faded” or look like there is more fog around it like the X wing? When I kept pausing in spots, the shuttle is much more crisp than the x-wing. It may help it blend in a little better.

Still, the shuttle is much better than the TIE fighter since it actually makes sense. Lol.

That shot looks seamless! It kind of fits that it’s a ship commonly associated with Vader, instead of a generic TIE.

According to sources the full height of the Lambda shuttle with wings folded is apparently 22 m (72 feet) while the X-Wing measures 2,4 m (8 ft). You could make the Lambda just somewhat larger, though it’s not really that noticeable and more of a nitpick.

jarbear, just updated and added a little more fog! (same link)

Knight of Kalee, thanks so much for those stats (I couldn’t find them, so I was using a big ship scale poster from the web!). I’ll take a measurement in AE to see how close it comes. Thanks!

Ok the “foggy-ness” is better on it, very nice!

So now I again watched it and took a comparison of the X-wing and the shuttle.

The next trick I think is the lighting for the shuttle. I think the shuttle’s lightest light is a little too white or “bright.”

For example, when I compare the X-wing’s edges where the light is, it is not as “bright” as the shuttle’s light spots.

Is there a way to tone it down a little?

What you are doing is amazing and I could never, ever even attempt this kind of work! It’s so neat!

I honestly think the TIE fighter should stay… sure it doesn’t make sense that a TIE fighter is still operational but it’s no more unlikely than Luke’s X-Wing. That moment in the theater when I saw the Tie and the X-Wing next to each other I actually freaked out it was so cool and such a cool moment to me.

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

Looking great! It’s such a short, dynamic shot, but you’re pouring such care into it.

I won’t speak for the one who renders the crawl, hopefully Ridley, but I’m sure someone can render out an alternate for use with a non-Mustafar edit. Maybe it can just be worded so it doesn’t matter either way. If Mustafar is gonna be there I’d like for first-time-me to know what I’m looking at.

And that’s a good point so I will avoid referring to a galactic censorship in the crawl. I’d hope to mention Leia in some way, if not Rey. Alluding to her sensing Palpatine could feasibly work. Maybe I can take a new pass at it later today. And the opening sentence needs to be perfect.

Jeez, what else was there… Oh, the Falcon. I’m not planning to open with that shot, but if it’s made available I know someone will!

My stance on revising fan edits.

Slight update (same link):

I did actually bump the scale up a little bit. The model was about 1100 pixels high when it should have been about 1300. I didn’t scale it all the way up, though, because it didn’t pass the eye test for me, and like Nev said, it could just have landed a little farther away. (I can bump it back down if this doesn’t feel right, though).

You have a good eye, jarbear! However, I wasn’t trying to match the lighting of the X-wing, I tried to match the lighting of the original Tie Fighter. Both the Tie and the shuttle have very sharp vertical wings which reflected super white in the original shot. I think it’s also because of the angle, where the X-wing is completely backlit from the lightning, creating a different effect.

The problem isn’t that the TIE is still operational, it’s that there’s never been evidence that the old models had Hyperdrives and plenty of evidence that they did not. Besides, the shuttle is more specifically tied to Vader’s fate in ROTJ.

In fact it’s always been explicitly stated that they do not in the old canon and the new.

And the original film verifies this:

Ben Kenobi: It’s an Imperial fighter.
Luke Skywalker: It followed us!
Ben Kenobi: No, it’s a short-range fighter.
Han Solo: There aren’t any bases around here. Where did it come from?

I know I’ll seem clueless for asking this, but why exactly would Ben be arriving in a shuttle instead of a TIE fighter?

The name’s Lawson. Noah Lawson.
