Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade is my favourite film of the trilogy.

Not ‘as’ controversial as saying Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is, but I’ve honestly never seen someone say that was their favourite over Raiders or Temple.

Interesting. I’ve always thought Crusade was the fan favorite.

Related,
Raiders is the only Jones film I like, & I really love it.
A perfect adventure movie.
Temple would be great if they’d written a decent female character instead of the offensive ditz we got.
She ruins every. single. scene.
Crusade is fun in a more family-friendly way, but it’s not something I’d watch again, if not for constant airings on the Movie channels.
Skull is total trash. All the problems of the PT in a single film.

Phantom Menace is the best of the prequel trilogy. ROTS is killed by the poor handling of Anakin’s fall, and AOTC is completely unwatchable.

TOS is the only good Star trek stuff.

Including the movies, right?

Yeah.

The original Ghostbusters is the only good Ghostbusters thing.

Not an unpopular opinion, unless you’re referring to the actual original Ghostbusters from 1975.

Ah, not that one. But I rarely meet a GB fan who doesn’t like 2 or the cartoons or some kinda BS.

I’ve always been under the impression that most people dislike 2, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone say that the cartoons are actually good. I personally enjoy the stupidity of The Real Ghostbusters, but being entertained by something doesn’t always make it good. 😉 I don’t think I could stand too much of it at one time.

I find Raiders and The Last Crusade pretty meh, the only one of the Indiana Jones movies I truly enjoyed is Temple of Doom.

I like isolated scenes from Ghostbusters 2. The film as a whole is superfluous.

I love Back to the Future & Back to the Future Part III, but Back to the Future Part II couldn’t disinterest me more. It’s an alright sequel 'til it gets to 1985A. Biff was an asshole in the first film, but a believable asshole; in this film he’s a Saturday morning cartoon supervillain straight out of Captain Planet, and it just doesn’t wash for me. And the sidequel route the film goes from there feels more like lazy fan service than inspired storytelling.

I personally like Back to the Future Part II more than Part III, but I enjoy the first better as a standalone with an open ended finish either way. Most of the things I like about Part II is just watching the impressive special effects, and both sequels get a bit dumb at many points. “We don’t need roads” is a better ending to the story than Doc Brown’s locomotive time machine.

Even though she couldn’t reprise the role in the sequels, Claudia Wells will always be Marty’s girlfriend. I still have trouble accepting Elizabeth Shue.

Firefly is cliche characters in a mediocre package

I watched the first six episodes of Firefly before I lost interest. Actually, I’d likely lost interest before then but stuck with it in the hopes the magic everyone else sees in it captivated me, but it didn’t. I can’t say it’s a bad or mediocre series; I rated most of the episodes I watched fairly high, and the show itself 8/10. I think it comes down to too many of the planets visited in the show being rather uninteresting/interchangeable. That and Joss Whedon’s typical smarminess being all over everything.

Mediocre was just the meanest I could go for the thread, it more underwhelmed me for the reasons you’re both saying. I think a lot of the cult following in the first place has to do with there being way less half decent sci-fi shows at the time, it didn’t exactly deserve to be canceled but the fanbase tipped the scales enough that once I watched the whole series and movie I was left wondering what was so special.

Ray’s gonna disown me for this…

Gojira (1954) is the only good Godzilla film. And only the original Japanese version is good; the American hackjob with Raymond Burr is worthless and every copy on every format should be collected to be burned.

Haha, no disown here!
I’d never assume someone who loves the original masterpiece would also love a silly movie like Megalon.

Have you seen Shin Godzilla? I’d think you’d like it. A fantastic reimagining & perfect allegory for Japans recent trilogy of disasters & their governments poor response. And that score… Chilling & beautiful. Actually won picture of the year in Japan. A first for a “monster movie”.

Haven’t seen Shin Godzilla yet, but the clips I’ve seen look really cheap.

Avada Kedavra is the least of the 3 unforgivable curses because it’s a painless death. Imperio is far more horrifying.

Yeah, it’s weird since there are many other ways to kill someone in Harry Potter that seem way worse but they’re not considered ‘unforgivable’
For example, look at how Molly Weasley killed Bellatrix and tell me that this isn’t also a “one way ticket to Azkaban”
