Name Something You Unreservedly Love About The Rise Of Skywalker — Page 4

Many little things…

Rey’s new saber being the top of her old staff from The Force Awakens.
That Kylo points in the same manner as his dad when he wants someone to be quiet! (Han to C3PO usually!)
Rey referring to Leia as ‘Master’ - and just the fact that Leia was now training Rey.
Chewie’s emotional greieving scene upon finding out Leia had passed, that ‘got’ me.
Luke’s final lesson to Rey on Ach-To - the reminder that confronting fear is the destiny of a Jedi (a message that resonates foreveryone in today’s political climate, or where people just accept things they know to be wrong or they don’t agree with).
C3PO’s humor - it was both funny and on the ‘mark’.

Jedit: a few more…

Rey now piloting an X-Wing instead of dreaming of piloting of one whilst wearing the helmet back on Jakku in TFA.
Luke reaching out to lift his X-Wing was just like he did in Empire on Dagobah.
Ben’s shrug - just like his dad.
Kylo’s ‘be quiet’ gesture - again, just like his dad.
Kylo and Han’s conversation.
Ben holding Rey like Han held Leia in ROTJ when she was injured.

I don’t want to clog up this thread with off topic discussion but since this is where most of the lightspeed skipping thoughts are I wanted to follow up with just a few more of my own. I think the concept is self explanatory, it doesn’t actually need any extra setup, what I find missing is the payoff.

I don’t understand why they needed to jump more than once though, it just seemed like a random Guardians of the Galaxy scene they wanted to copy.

The lightspeed skipping discussion has got to stop. I regret even bringing it up.

Anyway, in honor of the master John Williams’s Oscar nom today, one thing I love wholeheartedly about the film is Williams’s renditions of Kylo Ren’s theme, post redemption, in particular when Ben Solo arrives on Exegol:

I’ve listened to this almost everyday since the film came out. It’s a brief piece, but it’s probably my favorite musical moment of the film, and possibly my favorite moment of the film on the whole.

They had to jump more than once, because the TIEs forgot they can’t jump into hyperspace.

I liked Chewie loosing it over Leia’s death.
This was probably the best movie for 3P0.
The chemistry between Rey, Poe and Finn.
Keri Russell’s eyes.

No one is going to agree with me on this, but I absolutely love the lightspeed skipping.

I love this too. And I don’t mind lightspeed tracking either. The idea that people complained about those things in TLJ and TROS kind of flies over my head. It’s such a minor and fun thing. Like, get over it, man.

Han’s return was maybe one of my favorite scenes this year. It was the emotional crux of the entire second half of the film working for me.

My mother, who hasn’t cried at any movie I’ve ever watched with her, sniffled during that part.

I’m just here because I’m driving tonight.

The end line from Han…

(where have all these chopped onions suddenly appeared from?)

The FE Renegades thread; from the people who post ‘go kill yourself’, ‘fuck you’, ‘let’s throw abuse’, and more at OT staff & members. Four years on and still throwing accusations, slurs and abuse at the OT & anyone outside their Salacious Crumb filled clique. + FE Discord “to vent” more at the OT. Wook’s take.

I don’t know about love, but I’m so glad they used a new recording of the opening fanfare and not the same tinny one that they used for both TFA and TLJ.

I don’t think I’ll ever understand why they used the same one for TLJ. They recorded a new one, and even Johnson seemed to be under the impression it was used in the final film.

IIRC, the version in the film and on the isolated score is slightly different than the one on the soundtrack. Someone matched the waveforms up and the iso score was different than the TLJ and TFA soundtracks (which were identical)

There were two things I liked:

  1. The festival on Passana. Basically the only few minutes JJ dedicated to world building, showing that it is a big galaxy full of diverse life forms with their own culture and traditions.

  2. C3PO’s role.

We only saw it once, opening weekend, and my girl and boy, 8 and 10, are still doing the “Dio” voice.

The shot where Ben Solo arrives on Exogol and the camera reveals an Imperial TIE next to a Rebel X-wing.

Edit, just saw this:

Here’s the thing you’re missing: I truly could not give less of a shit about that.

😄 LOL! Thanks for making my day DominicCobb, I couldn’t agree more. I also love the lightspeed skipping and don’t care about people’s scientific nitpicks.

One of these has a hyperdrive

I guess I’m just a miserable killjoy who sees a short range fighter without a Hyperdrive and wonders how the hell it got halfway across the galaxy.

As for what I love, probably the scene where Rey loses control and ‘kills’ Chewie. That was genuinely shocking…until they showed him alive five minutes later.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Nah fuck the nerdy nitpicks, that shit is good. Not to mention John Williams absolutely killing it in that moment.

I liked that Luke was redeemed. And that he did not die in vain. Rey now carries on the Jedi tradition and Luke lives on in her. The same way Ben Kenobi did with Luke.
I also like her being an adopted Skywalker. I like Han Solo being redeemed and thought the force ghost scene with Han whether it was real or imagined in Ben’s mind was very good. Harrison Ford did a very good job in his acting.

I hate that it all ended we need to see Rey rebuild the Jedi Order and take Finn as her Padawan. And to see the Republic restored for real this time. Hopefully the Empire and First Order are finally defeated.

Honestly my whole opinion of the new trilogy changed with Rise of Skywalker. I see how it all connects even if the story was not planned out in advance and i no longer hate The new trilogy. It just is not what i expected i expected a sequel focusing on Luke.

But like Mark Hamill said he had his trilogy, and this New Trilogy was Daisy’s trilogy. And the prequels obviously were Hayden’s trilogy since he was in 2 of them.

  • A live-action gold lightsaber. It should have been Rey’s from the beginning of the film.
  • Luke and the X-Wing.
  • Han’s posthumous talk with Ben.
  • R2 and Chewie’s reactions to Leia’s passing.
  • The arrival of Lando and the galactic fleet (and seeing Naboo and Mandalorian ships).
  • The voices of the Jedi, including Ahsoka’s.

I agree with the visuals being wonderful. I thought Jannah was a great character, and I also loved the relationship between Zori and Poe (I liked Zori as a whole too).

But most importantly this;

3P0 in a parka was something I never knew I needed, but I’m so glad I have it in my life.
