Great post ZkinandBonez and I agree with a lot of it.

The uniform on that rebel…ugh…1960’s Star Trek called and wants it back.
Fun show, needs to slow down.
Well said ZkinandBonez. While we might have minor differences in opinion here and there, I think you did a great job generally summing up my thoughts on the show so far. Episode 2 is also my favorite. I totally love that episode and may be unfairly judging every episode since (even though I love episode 3 and 4 too).
And I don’t dislike any episode, I just found the most recent two to be weaker when compared to some of the material that came before. I did find the twileks to be rather cringe-inducing clichéd ‘90’s cyberpunk (if that’s the right word?) stereotypes and I think they brought the whole episode down a notch.
For most of the episode, I was wondering why the Twilek was there – she wasn’t doing anything (other than prancing, hissing, and saying snarky things). Then at the end when she fought against Mando it suddenly was clear that she was a frighteningly good warrior. That was a nice touch, holding off on showing her capabilities and then saving the answer to the nagging doubt about why she is on the mission, until near the end.
"Close the blast doors!"

Cyberpunk is actually a pretty good comparison for the two Twi-leks, though funnily enough that’s why I actually liked them, though I see why a lot of people found them to be a bit weird/annoying. Maybe it’s because I really like the 90’s cyberpunk style (as well as that of the 80’s) overall and a lot of the EU characters from the games and comics I read as a kid and teenager where quite similar to the characters of this episode, so it never stood out to me.
Minor nitpick though; the joke about stormtroopers having bad aim was a tad too meta for me, and ironically this show has only reinforced the fact that stormtroopers (at least in live-action SW) has pretty solid aim.

Nice watch ZkinandBonez.
Very interesting Tie design this episode for the new villian Moff Gideon.

Is it meant to be a new design, or a retcon for how normal TIEs land?

I’m certain I’ve seen concept art from a few years back utilizing this design.
There was TFA concept art with that design.
Can’t say it’s worse than having the TIEs rest on their panels. Man, that was stupid.
Mostly because, if the TIE is sitting propped up on its tall solar fins, how in the world do you get in and out of the cockpit?
“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”
Meh, I’m just annoyed that canon media up to this point has used that, illogical though it may have been, and suddenly we’re getting something fundamentally different. If they’d started using this with, say, Rebels, I’d be fine with it.
I’m honestly impressed that simple thing like TIE fighters landing breaks the idea of a single monolithic “canon” into a thousand shards.
“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”
I’ve heard people call it “The Bow TIE” and I like that.
Also, this is the first episode of this show that I’ve REALLY liked. Characterization was good, the interaction between the characters was good - it was the first episode that seemed to be making some serious choices and following through on them. Plus the pacing was GREAT.
Deborah Chow and Rick Famuyiwa are easily the two voices on this show with the best handle on how to make it all work.
Oh yeah, it was a great episode. My “issue” with the TIE is nitpicking of the most Comic Book Guy sort possible. 😃
Yeah, I can easily accept that some TIE fighters have that feature and some don’t. I always assume they just had a ladder that popped out for them to climb down.
Where they keep the ladders on the various small fighters in this universe is something that bothers me late at night.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)
In LucasArts’ 1990s rail-shooter game Rebel Assault II, the plot was the player had to find & destroy an Imperial factory that produced special top-secret TIE fighters with cloaking devices. You got to fly one at one point, and the FMV cutscenes showed the ship had an elevator in the bottom of the cockpit for entry & exit. (Though it wasn’t exactly a standard TIE “eyeball” cockpit shape, but more like the one on the Millennium Falcon.)

The logistics of the X-Wing ladder on Dagobah gives me nightmares.

The ladder of Poe X-wing at the beginning of The Force Awakens disappears with movie magic too!
really “felt” the high stakes in this latest ep, great television
Is it meant to be a new design, or a retcon for how normal TIEs land?
I’d say, custom modification. The bottom part of this T/F’s central piece looks a bit bulkier (in order to have the landing gear in it) than the one of the normal T/F (which basically looks like a sphere).
Really enjoyed chapter 7 and looking forward very much to the season finale.
Here’s a few covers on the Mando theme which are all awesome in their own right but my favourites would have to be the 80s retro one and all the acoustic guitar covers which just suit the theme so well:

Here is the actual official theme for anyone that hasn’t looked it up yet and because it’s awesome 😃
It looks like even all the music for each chapter / episode can be found in this channel’s album playlists, it’s all there!

And balance has been restored (for now). Thanks for the new headcanon!
