That scene was shot on a bluescreen during reshoots, judging by Ewan’s wig.
To be clear, I’m pointing out Mace Windus head movement only. There seems to be a slight motion blur on his head as he turns…but it looks unnatural…like the footage was slowed down.

I noticed the motion blur, but I thought it was a side effect of the YouTube compression. Thanks for pointing it out.

I never noticed Fake Mace in Episode One until someone pointed it out. It was a while before I noticed Yoda walking down the ramp in that scene as well, and it looks exactly like a little person in a suit. It may or may not be in the current version of the film though.
Nobody’s feet seem to be touching the ground in that picture. They’re all floating.
Is Yoda in that pic? I don’t see him.

Why do TPM’s compositing effects look better than AotC’s??
Most sets had mostly practical elements? Compositing was mostly done to extend sets rather than as a substitute for them entirely?

You’re right…that isn’t Yoda but another of the same species from the council. The floating guard is…uh…bad.
^ Someone should try DeepFakes for that Mace scene.

I remember a scene by a lake where Obi-Wan & Gin are talking. Ewans hair changes several times between cuts. I dunno if it’s a wig or if his hair had started to grow out by time of re-shoots and they thought nobody would notice.

That scene is the only time the TPM reshoots bother me. All the others look fine, but Ewan looks bloated in that scene.
TPM didn’t have that many reshoots so that’s probably why.

Found it. He’s barely visible. Some of those background guys are repeated. Unless Naboo had a secret cloning program? 😉

…and Warwick Davis himself has confirmed that they used him as a kind of Yoda stand-in for one scene in TPM, walking in a long shot, and obviously it was kept in the movie, and that whole sequence with fake-Mace also, seems kind of botched together, perhaps last-minute. Been a long time since I managed to sit through the whole ending of TPM.

Wait, AOTC and ROTS had more than one reshoot?

It seems like the entire Fake Mace scene was shot in reshoots, probably to make the ending feel less abrupt.

Wdym? TPM is probably the best non OT movie.
While TPM is the best prequel movie, its ending is sort of incredibly boring. I don’t like the whole Victory Ceremony scene.

Oh, I disagree. I think the music is great, before that the “watch your career” line is great. The coming together of the Naboo and Gungans brings the duality theme of the movie full circle. (Supporting that, I’m pretty sure the glowing ball represents Midichlorians in a very general way).
The Gungan CG is a little dated, but that’s about it IMO.
I’m sure there’s many more including ones I haven’t discovered yet (I never noticed the 94 outside docking bay 94 til now) but off hand I know I never knew about the trooper bumping his head on the door until I read up on the 2004 changes that said a sound effect was added for that blooper.

Not by a long shot.
It’s the best prequel, but it’s still a terrible movie.

I disagree. I think in many ways it’s less slapdash than ANH, let alone TFA.
ANH has this problem of brushing aside characters feelings. Like, if Leia’s planet blew up, I’d expect more than “we have no time for sorrows commander”.
Random observation having just watched THX 1138- What’s weird is that THX 1138 and The Phantom Menace are both more slick than ANH.
Hell, THX feels more like ESB than ANH does.
I trust you didn’t watch the 2004 version of THX?

Other than the highway car shots, pretty much all the changes are improvements IMO.

Looks at name of forum, then your post, then at name of forum again and goes cross-eyed.
