Baby Driver (2017)
One of the slickest, best action movies I’ve ever seen.
I keep hearing good things about this movie. Oh what shall I do?
I was disappointed there wasn’t an actual revenant in the movie. I mean, c’mon – who wouldn’t have wanted to see DiCaprio turn into one of these:
(I jest, of course. I quite liked The Revenant just fine for what it was, though I could barely understand a word that come out of Hardy’s mouth.)
I want my cake, Bedelia! It’s Father’s Day, Bedelia!
Where were you in '77?

Having just found out that it’s directed by Edgar Wright, nothing will keep me from seeing it this week.
Having not seen any Edgar Wright movies before I saw Baby Driver, I now am inclined to check out his Cornetto trilogy and Scott Pilgrim VS The World. Should be a fun few days 😃
They are all excellent.
Baby Driver was very good, but the main character didn’t feel quite fleshed out enough and there was some repetitive action in the third act.
Nevertheless, full recommendation from this guy as well 😃
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)
Cornetto trilogy yes. scott pilgrim? dunno, i wouldn’t (and haven’t)

great, now i really don’t know what to do with all these conflicting reviews.
When all else fails, flip a coin.
Baby Driver… the main character didn’t feel quite fleshed out enough and there was some repetitive action in the third act.
Did we see the same movie?

The main character was so easily relatable and easy to connect with. And the romance blew my socks off too. Some of the complaints don’t just register with me at all. I will be seeing it again on Tuesday so my opinion could change but I expect myself to like it even more the second time around.

Probably not, since all movies are filtered through squishy human brains.
Seriously though, interpret my nitpicks as if they were written in 5 point font and the recommendation in 40.
(Spoilers below, I guess)
I thought that our hero, though he had a very understandable and relatable backstory, was portrayed inconsistently in the first half of the film. We first are led to believe that he doesn’t care about his involvement and is detached from it, then we are led to believe that he is in fact tinged with darkness, then that he is merely a victim of circumstance. Granted that this could be interpreted as merely shades of character applied slowly throughout the film, but I could never feel like I really understood his core motivation.
As for the repetition in the 3rd act, having the villain get injured in a way that implies that the injury is fatal, then having him return for an action sequence only to be further injured in ways considered fatal, felt repetitive.
Again, minor nitpicks in an otherwise excellent movie.

Read them?
Desperado (1994) – ★★★ (of ☆☆☆☆)
El Mariachi is better, though this was still entertaining. I think upon further reflection I would bump El Mariachi to three and a half stars rather than just three like I posted after watching it earlier this year.
Moana (2016) – ★★1/2 (of ☆☆☆☆)
Meh.
Police Story (1985) – ★★★★ (of ☆☆☆☆)
Utterly fantastic.
Army of Darkness: The Medieval Deadit | The Terminator - Color Regrade | The Wrong Trousers - Audio Preservation
SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.
Police Story (1985) – ★★★★ (of ☆☆☆☆)
Utterly fantastic.
Yeah but it’s just a rehash of 1984’s Police Academy.
I watched all the Spider-Man movies in prep for Homecoming.
Spider-Man (2002) - Really love this one, my personal favourite of the lot - 8/10
Spider-Man 2 (2004) - Builds really well on what made the first film great, the “best” one of the lot - 8/10
Spider-Man 3 (2007) - A misstep for sure but I adore the soundtrack, acting and campyness that surrounds this entire film - 6/10
Captain America: Civil War (2016) - I watched this because it contains Spider-Man and also because I remember it as a damn good film (it still is by the way) - 7/10
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) - It isn’t as well put together as the first two Raimi films, nor is it as quotable of zany as the third, but I still really enjoyed it - 7/10
I didn’t watch either of the “Amazing” movies because they are abhorrent.
Not enough people read the EU.
Amarcord (1973) – I am absolutely certain I did not understand everything going on here.
It’s a Fellini movie, some of it is not easy to understand.
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (octorox hybrid edit)
My thoughts on this are specifically about this edit, not the original. Honestly, I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Obviously it wasn’t perfect, and didn’t have the magic charm that the original trilogy had, but this edit brings out the unique charm this film had the potential to have. And the way it’s edited actually causes the film to gain a lot of momentum and excitement. It was actually quite captivating. And, since barring the alternative of him never being in the film in the first place, had the perfect amount of jar jar. Not gratingly annoying like the original (Obviously some mild irritation), but not cut down to the point that it’s obvious that he’s been cut down. The original film had alot of heart that was ruined by everything else about it, this edit lets it shine through. Of course it’s not perfect. Some bad acting ( mostly anakin) and such. But all in all it was a very entertaining ride. I feel good giving it a 7 out of 10. (For reference I’d give the original maybe a 3 or so out of 10)
