Does that Falcon kit come with a “OT” dish?

No, sadly; that’s why I put Rey in the cockpit instead of Han. Bandai only does the TFA ships currently (they had the ST X-wings and TIEs at the booth I got the Falcon at). I don’t think anyone’s making OT kits right now, unless there were any Rogue One tie-ins that I missed, which is a shame.

Actually, bandai has made a TON of OT kits. They’ve also made some Rogue One kits and even “figure” kits. Not all of them are available in North America yet, but many are. And the ones that aren’t are pretty easy to find for import.

Everything pictured is a bandai model kit (though it’s not everything they’ve made):

Are they still making those though or are the discontinued? I remember seeing the characters and the OT X-wings before TFA came out but I haven’t come across them since.

I never realized Boba Fett had armor on his caboose before. 😉

Most of the bandai stuff has been out in Japan for a while, but has only started hitting North America in the last few months. For a long time Revell of Germany had exclusive rights in most of the world, which excluded the retail sale of bandai kits pretty much anywhere outside Japan. Bluefin worked out a deal to distribute the bandai kits in North America (and maybe elsewhere?) last year. Which is good b/c they are VASTLY superior to the Revell products.

In the last two or three months I’ve seen Bandai kits in my local hobby lobby and my local comic shop, both in plentiful quantities. So it looks like bluefin got a pretty liberal distribution deal.

And bandai is still making kits for Japan. They’ve got an epic 1/72 ANH “master grade” Millennium Falcon that just came out. It’s $400 but it’s INSANE. And it comes with a lighting kit.

I don’t see how those exclusivity deals even make sense in the modern world, when you can buy stuff online from just about anywhere.

Unlike Lawrence of Arabia, Anakin Skywalker is not personally attracted to the desert.

Just caught a Star Wars tribute at one of the many 4th of July concerts being televised tonight, I think it was the DC one. The orchestra played the main title and finale, and the video feed switched over to clips from ANH. It didn’t look to be the Lowry transfer, and at first I thought it might even be the GOUT until they showed the Death Star explosion with the praxis ring. I think it might have been an old broadcast version of the 1997 SE.

Was the Praxis ring blue and yellow, or washed out like in every release later than '97?

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Yesterday I was wandering in the city and thought I’d go to an antique shop which specializes in pop antiques, americana, and all kinds of cool stuff - it’s probably the coolest shop I know but the prices are out there. Anyways, I went to see if they had anything new since I hadn’t been there for awhile. I stumbled on 35 mm film cases, there were probably only 20 of them. I thought “wouldn’t it be crazy if there was SW here… LOL” and skimmed them through. There was a couple from Telefon, a few with no titles, some 007 ripoff movie, and actually one from Close Encounters, and…

I almost jumped in the air and immediately asked who much the cases were. He made a call to the owner and SW was the most expensive of these, I made an offer and we made a deal. The guy said there were few others from SW but this was the last one, maybe they had all six? He didn’t seem to know any extra info on it, I might go back and ask the owner where they got these.

And yes, the case is empty. But still, this is probably my coolest find ever. There probably wasn’t many copies of the film floating around back then in my country, if there even was except this one. To think that this case contained the film when it first to came here is just cool. 😃

Nice find! I saw a film can that once held raw footage from The Shining fetch almost $1500 in an online auction last year.

Raw footage? Wasn’t all the negatives burned by Kubrick?

Not the negs. Rushes, or dailies as they’re called intended to be viewed in a screening room to check the progress of the previous days of shooting. The can in the auction was empty.

Woah! Luckily this didn’t cost anywhere near that but then again, this held the print itself and not any production material. I have no clue what the value for this would actually even be but to me it’s priceless.

Bought some groceries at Target, and passed through the toy aisle, and what should I see? That action figure two pack with Moroff! Only one on the pegs, and sitting right in front like it was waiting for me. Impulse buy! Haven’t bought a SW figure in a long time.

Awesome. I’ve never had a Star Wars shirt or toy, but I feel like I’ll be correcting that in the coming weeks. I have my Rogue One socks as my only wearable Star Wars things ever, but I feel like I’m this close to getting a shirt.

Around the release of TFA, my parents kept buying me Star Wars shirts. My mom loves her JC Penny coupons, lol. I ended up with like a dozen which is really strange.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

I’m not about to jump to the conclusion that it actually means ANYTHING. But it’s kinda cool that the big SDCC Star Wars figure display by hasbro leaves out the stupid chi rock in front of R2’s hiding spot…

JEDIT: blargh. Rebelscum’s image galleries make it impossible to post an image here using my iPad… the pics of R2 I’m referring to are towards the end of the second gallery in the links below.

And a couple galleries of the pretty awesome display they built:

Hey Wikiquote, go jump off a cliff.

[Han arrives at Docking Bay 94 and sees a familiar face]
Jabba the Hutt: [in Huttese] Solo! Come out of there, Solo! Solo!!
Han Solo: Right here, Jabba. [Jabba and his henchmen turn around to see Han and Chewbacca] I’ve been waiting for you.
Jabba: Have you now.
Han: You didn’t think I was gonna run, did you?
Jabba: Han, my boy, you disappoint me. Why haven’t you paid me? And why did you fry poor Greedo?
Han: Look, Jabba, next time you wanna talk to me, come see me yourself. Don’t send one of these twerps.
Jabba: Han, I can’t make exceptions. What if everyone who smuggled for me dropped their cargo at the first sign of an Imperial starship? It’s not good for business.
Han: Look, Jabba, even I get boarded sometimes. [accidentally steps on Jabba’s tail, causing Jabba to yelp in pain] Did you think I had a choice? But I got a nice easy charter now; I’ll pay you back, plus a little extra. I just need a little more time.
Jabba: Han, my boy, you’re the best smuggler I ever hired. So, for an extra twenty percent…
Han: Fifteen, Jabba, and don’t push it.
Jabba: Okay, fifteen percent. But if you fail me again, I’ll put a price on your head so big, you won’t be able to go near a civilized system.
Han: Jabba, you’re a wonderful human being.
Jabba: [orders minions] Come on. [Jabba’s gang leaves with bounty hunter Boba Fett following behind.]

Wouldn’t surprise me if those bound printed versions of the OT scripts had been “updated” with SE stuff.
