Well, it’s not like they gave her a single thing to do…
True … very true.
American Pie (1999)
I thought I’d despise this, as it had all the things I hate about traditional comedies (crude gags, poor visual aesthetic, overused pop songs, misogyny, and the token “sad moment” in which the characters talk to each other about their wrongdoings), but I didn’t hate it.
Neither did I like it.

I’m on this page too! Good ol’ page 415 deserves at least 7/10.
10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)
John Goodman’s wholly predictable character arc + one really shitty ending which doesn’t mesh with the rest of the film = one very heavily overrated romp through mediocrity.

But what if it were actually something else?
This is how I’d rank the DCEU so far:
- Don’t give a shit
- BvS was one of the worst films I’ve ever seen

Thought it was a perfectly excecuted, 90 minute long anxiety attack. Ending was shite, but a simple cut to black after, well, what one would initially believe to be the resolution, would’ve fixed it entirely for me.

I admit I would’ve rated it 7/10 if it wasn’t for the ending.
I actually liked the ending, but I understand why so many don’t. The most basic of fanedits could fix it, though.

^That.
The Evil Dead (1981) – ★★★1/2
Evil Dead II (1987) – ★★★1/2
I re-watched these, and I have to say that I liked II more this time around, but I can’t bring myself to change my rating due to my nitpick about the abridged recap being too different and feeling rushed. I want to fanedit the recap to be more like the original plan, using footage from the first film to recap.
Army of Darkness (1992) – ★★★1/2
After re-watching the first two I finally got to seeing this one. I watched the director’s cut (original version; pre theatrical release), but I’ve also looked at some of the differences between the three different cuts for some reference in hindsight.
Possible SPOILER talk:
I definitely want to fanedit this one. I’ll want to replace Linda in the opening with footage from Evil Dead II, and replace “I’m not that good,” with the theatrical re-shoot line “Good, bad, I’m the guy with the gun.” It would be nice if I could use the end of Evil Dead II in the beginning of Army of Darkness, but that will be a more difficult task; I’ll at least want to try it, though.
I also want to create an alternate ending, since the original ending can seem unsatisfying, and the theatrical ending is a joke.
Using the original ending, I’ll cut out the first ‘fifth drop’ that he takes in the cave (maybe also shortening the dream montage to remove what is probably sounds of the apocalypse), and when he awakens and leaves the cave, it will abruptly cut to credits before his facial expression reacts to the sight of post-apocalyptic England.
That way the feel of the first two films’ endings will be kept as it is in the original ending, but it won’t be an unsatisfying, unresolved ending. He simply got back to his own time.

THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.
the theatrical ending is a joke.
You, sir, are deadite to me now.

And a good one!
Legend (1985)
I decided today I would watch both the US theatrical version and the director’s cut, one right after the other, so I did.
Being a Tangerine Dream fan, I vastly prefer their score over Jerry Goldsmith’s. I can’t deny, though, that the director’s cut has the superior narrative; Darkness’ reveal, Lily’s characterization, etc. are handled much better here than in the American version.
Since both cuts have their own particular strengths, they about balance out quality-wise. I give them both 9/10.
I just realized that the love interest in Deadpool, who is thoroughly wasted, was played by Inara from Firefly. Now I hate Deadpool even more for wasting her.

you just realized? man, this movie is eating away at you isn’t it? still thinking about it days after having seen it?

I’m with ya. The theatrical ending is the best part of the movie and would have been a great jumping point for another film.

The whole movie was a waste. They could have used this opportunity to make their dick and fart jokes without playing exactly into the tropes they made fun of in the credits. Imagine if she got kidnapped, was just offscreen forever, then Deadpool blows all kinds of shit up to get to where she thinks she is, turns out she escaped almost immediately. Just that one change would give it another point in my book.
