Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *
Time

Spoilers are now leaking from children's costumes on the backstory.

http://www.buycostumes.com/p/809233/star-wars-episode-7-mens-kylo-ren-deluxe-costume

When Kylo Ren joined his fellow knights, and the quest of the First Order, it was all a part of the mission to claim the galactic power once held by Palpatine and the Empire. Over the last thirty years, that government has crumbled into near nothingness, yet few remnants - powerful remnants - still remain. This is the tale that unfolds in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, and it’s one of the stories that you may embody with Star Wars costumes on Halloween.

So the Empire has crumbled to "near nothingness" and Kylo and the Knights of Ren are seeking Palpatine's power.

Seems pretty straightforward. Just don't quite see how "powerful remnants" remain of the Empire if its crumbled to near nothingness.

"I am immune to the light."

Ugh.

And Luke is apparently the "last Jedi" 30+ years after RotJ.

Exactly what have our heroes been doing since defeating the Emperor and Vader anyway?

Luke must have been sitting out sulking somewhere by his lonesome all this time. The Rebels still can't manage to stamp out the Empire.

There better be some good explanations for all this, but I suspect I won't see them.

Today some Force Awakens action figures got leaked online. The backs of the cards have so far only shown one new alien, but what interested me is that Luke in his Cloud City outfit is included in the line. There were previous mentions of Darth Vader alao being included in the line.

I'm taking this information to assume there will be a flashback to Cloud City in the movie and the lightsaber Luke lost there really is some key plotline. Not a good plot to pursue, IMO, but its looking more likely now.

IIRC, Leonard Nimoy's appearance in STID was kept under wraps. And these days, you can shoot a simple scene just about anywhere you can set up a green screen.

I figure we'll see a few hologram/video-screen only cameos in the upcoming Star Wars sequels like Leonard Nimoy's in Into Darkness. Hopefully if Lando does return it will be a bit more substantial than that.

Speaking of Into Darkness, JJ's transparent lies about Benedict Cumberbatch not being Khan means we shouldn't be so trustful about who will show up on camera in The Force Awakens. Finn's last name is still being kept under wraps. We may wind up seeing Lando as his dad/grandfather(?) in the course of the film as some type of "surprise."

I've seen some mixed thoughts on Poe's X-Wing color scheme, but personally I'm a big fan of it.

I have no problem with the color scheme. My issue is that Poe has a special hero X-Wing just for merchandising purposes.

Luke didn't need a distinct X-Wing in the original series. Poe shouldn't require one either.

Ok this was cool:

Direct link to the GIF:

Going by that GIF Chewie got younger over the last 38 years.

Look at how coarse he looks in 1977 compared to his smooth 2015 appearance.

Is this the first SW film to have it's own alcoholic beverage? ;)

What's up with C-3PO's red arm? He's got like a Hellboy thing going on.

I think even earlier in this thread there's been speculation about Threepio having a red arm in the sequels from some photos of some chairs that a company was producing.

Nobody was sure if his arm was red or if it was a red light reflecting off his arm. Now we know C-3PO has had yet another spare part added.

Star Wars: Uprising Announce Trailer

^ Trailer for game set between ROTJ and TFA. Probably raises as many questions as it answers about the field of play going into TFA.

This trailer shows the Death Star II blowing up with the ring from the Special Editions.

The SE is still the official canon and all those celebrations shown after the Empire was defeated at Endor that were inserted into RotJ somehow still aren't representative of what actually took place since we're getting sequels set 30+ years later.

The trailer showing what appears to be Luke's original lightsaber/Anakin's saber does appear to make these plot rumors seem true.

I'm just hoping that the saber itself is a replica made by a sentimental Luke that was found. Not the original one that should have been floating around the gas giant Bespin after Vader cut off Luke's hand.
