The best source we have for the mono is a 16mm print. A 35mm would sound even better if one ever turns up. The mix itself is not of low quality. Ben Burtt and company spent more time on it than the stereo and 70mm even.

I must’ve been misinformed. What I’ve heard regarding the mono recreation was that Academy mono as a standard was not of the highest quality.

Still, it sounds like what we have regarding the mono is better than what we have for the 70 mm (six track, if I recall?) audio, as all I know about what we have for that is someone’s in theatre recording of it, and a recreation based on the '93 laserdisc as a starting point.

Well, we did hear Obi-Wan’s voice in TFA, so I assume his ghost is still around in some amount.

The forceback is still rather difficult to fit into this, as I don’t even think the times where the characters get visions of the future really compares well with it. For all we know it could even be a piecemeal construction from the thoughts of a sentient lightsabre (though where it got the information regarding the razing of Luke’s academy is a good question.)

I was originally going to post this in the 4K restoration thread, but I thought it might be more fun to speculate here:

I’m curious as to what the status of the Force ghosts in the new canon is. Do they fade away after some time like in the old EU? Are they still there to talk to Luke and co.? Will we see Luke talking to them without seeing them, leading the rest of the cast to believe he’s gone mad?

I didn’t read the full title, so I was taken aback when I saw Wiseau’s face.

I’m surprised that he has a career outside of The Room, nevermind that someone else wanted to direct for him (Is Gary Fong related to the creation of The Room? I can’t remember)

So, no, essentially.

I don’t know why, but the bigger takeaway from that is that it was shot in Kelowna. I wonder if I’ll recognize any buildings there or not (probably not, it’s been a few years since my sister moved out of there so we haven’t had much reason to visit).

The most colourful VHS I remember having is “Monsters Inc.” but that was because the cassette itself was blue, rather than any fancy art on it.

EDIT: I looked it up, and it seems like the PAL (UK maybe?) release of Monsters Inc. is incidentally an example of a cassette with fancy sticker art on it, while the American release had the standard generic white text on it.
