Speaking of the END of EMPIRE, this shot always bugged me.  The Falcon leaves and zips off... to where again?  The galaxy is THAT way (pointing down, as they fly upwards).

That's not the galaxy it's like a star formation or cluster inside of the galaxy.

Looking at those snow shots at the bottom I realized that for some reason those are the two shots where I actually kind of prefer the whole "grey sky" look.  While the sun and clear sky makes the imperial's attack seem much more impressive, I kind of like the dreary sky at the end of the battle.  It just fits in my mind.

I agree, it just feels right.

I noticed that Yoda only blinks 3 times. Any chance on adding one or two more? There was some parts of the scene where I think he goes a bit long.

I don't know. Yoda's pretty intense. Watch Michael Caine act... the man never blinks.

I think the number of eye blinks is perfect, no offense to Ady but I thought the cantina aliens blinked a little too often in ANH. It was nice to see it handled so subtley for Yoda.

Hey Ady, I know you've done some work to try and help improve the realism of the Tauntauns. The other day I stumbled upon this video and was really impressed with the fluidity of his work. I decided to look around and found a video that explains some of his process. Thought you might be interested. =)

Try double checking. That's pathetic if it doesn't include the chamber.

It doesn't include it. And one is for sure its not near the bridge.

The Wookieepedia entry for the Executor has an interesting tidbit, right above where it says Hoth to Endor there's a picture that's captioned:

"The entrance to Darth Vader's meditation chamber, visible from the command salon."

Here's the picture

Anyone notice that in Ep 14, as we see Ahsoka's shadow slicing up a pair of droids, her lightsaber also casts a shadow? That can't be right...

I noticed that too and cringed.  That doesn't help my "how can something made of light cast a shadow?" argument.

"When Ahsoka cuts down droids inside the Separatist base, she is shown in silhouette and her lightsaber casts a shadow. Contrary to online debate, there's nothing wrong with this. Lightsabers do indeed cast shadows; anything that is opaque does. Try it with a fluorescent light tube."

Great to hear from you Ady. I just checked out the new slug clip. Everything looks great, except I noticed one thing. In the original film the foreground asteroids all have a natural spin on their axis but in the newly incorporated field the asteroids spin end over end. I'm hoping you'll take the time to recomposite the original asteroids as the new ones feel distinctly less real and more artificial. Perhaps if that would be too time consuming you could film new replacements.

I'm a fan of Revisited but it just seems like this is getting out of hand. I'm all for fixing the little continuity gaffs and the horrible tinting but now it just seems like we're looking for things to change just because we can. The Empire Strikes back is regarded by many to be the best film of the trilogy. I just worry that if it's tampered with too much in very obvious ways that it could be ruined. We don't want that do we?

Very interesting ideas being thrown around. I was liking some of the earlier stuff about Clone War I and II. I was thinking since Obi-Wan is serving as a General for Bail that the Tantive IV could be used like the Millenium Falcon as the heroes main means of transportation throughout the trilogy. (I also like the idea because the design of the Tantive IV was originally meant to be the Millenium Falcon.) This also allows an easy way to introduce Threepio and Artoo as always having been a part of the droid crew on the Tantive.

Now onto the Carbon chamber issue. I was looking over your plans to have the chamber at the top of the shaft but this creates more problems than it solves. That is a hell of a long way for Luke to travel to find Vader and really doesn't make sense. Why would Vader run all that way away from Luke just to lure him to the vane? All that needs doing is redesigning the actual vane so it can contain the carbon chamber at the top and explain where the corridors that led them to the chamber disappeared to. Its quite plain to see now i have gone through the Luke jumping down from the chamber to the pipe that you can clearly see that behind him is the base of the carbon chamber as the architecture and piping is very similar. It is meant to be one complete sequence as you see Luke drop from the chamber (even though you can clearly see that he jumps from hanging onto a pole in the first few frames of the pipe sequence, but this was just to simulate his drop during filming). So this means that the carbon chamber is indeed meant to be built into the vane. Now it looks like i'll have to build some sort of model for the vane shot and do a lot of redesigning, but at the same time keeping the look of the original.

Also i won't be extending the actual carbon chamber in any way. Although it does look pretty cool in the McQuarrie paintings i feel that the limitations reached during filming actually helped the scene and gave that claustrophobic feel that this scene needs. Make the chamber look to big with all these extending platforms and your treading too close into PT  territory for my liking. if you look at the PT everything is just so expansive and flashy which just became a show piece and did nothing to help create any sort of mood for the scene. Less can be more.

Fair enough, but will you make the connecting arm to the Vane thicker to account for having to hold up the weight of the Vane itself?  I guess that's one reason I never thought the carbon chamber was in the vane itself but either above it or within the shaft wall, and that the tunnel Luke went through was the connecting rod TO the vane - the connecting post to the vane/pod (whatever you call it) just didn't look strong enough to support a structure other than something that was mostly empty or a bunch of corridors.

Yeah that's what I thought.
