Star Trek III: The Search For Spock (1984)
Well, it wasn’t too bad. Loved all of the Vulcan bits, very true to what had been established before. Christopher Lloyd is one of my favorite actors but a Klingon? Eh…
Rather than spoil it with an image I’ll just say he’s about 21 minutes into the film.
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)
Having been released just three years after TMP I wasn’t aware that there’s supposed to be an 11 year time gap between the films. Since TMP is supposed to be just two and a half years after the end of their original five year mission, this allowed for the characters to catch up with the ages of their actors. But it threw me off at the start with them rehashing some of the same beats of Kirk struggling with age and being an Admiral. Regardless, great film!
I don’t know about his appearances in books but that was never true in the games. He was always his own distinct character. That aside, I’ve always been more a fan of him when he was still just a mercenary which is what he was during the SOTE period.
The addition of the Ghost is really a nice nod. However, I don’t know if Ady would consider this as I do not think he is including additions outside of OG trilogy now.
He added Chopper to Echo Base in ESB:R. I’m sure we have some neat easter eggs to look forward to for ROTJ:R.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)
It’s been decades since I first saw this film and this was my first time watching the Director’s Cut(4K). A fun film to pick up after doing a run of the Original Series. Though slows down a bit too much toward the end. The changes in the DC are a bit of a mixed bag. All of the changes done early in the San Francisco section are very poorly executed. Whereas the changes done in the V’ger section do a lot to add to the film and the atmosphere it’s building.
Grievous on Dathomir killing Nightsisters…?? Son of Dathomir adaptation perhaps?
This looks to be a retelling of the battle in Massacre from Elsbeth’s perspective. I don’t think this has anything to do with Son but I still hold out hope that we’ll see that and Dark Disciple adapted as miniseries some day.
My apparently unpopular opinion judging by past reactions:
I think they should have used Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors in Shadows of the Empire instead of creating Dash Rendar and Leebo. Kyle and Jan were already mercenaries working for the Rebellion with big accomplishments under their belts and they were active during that period. Instead we got a Han Solo wannabe that was as interesting as a slice of bread.

I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book. But I can see now why it’s so highly regarded. A very interesting peek into the mind and culture of a species that is often dismissed as simplistic.
We should define our terms and make a clear delineation as there were in fact two separate Clone Wars Multimedia Projects.
There was the original Clone Wars multimedia project from 2003-2005.
And then there was the Star Wars: The Clone Wars multimedia project from 2008-2020.
I know generally when people refer to “the multimedia project” they mean the former but try and google that and you get links for the latter instead.
Because this is set 50 years before TPM it shouldn’t have those overused and empty memberberries or needless fan service that F+F like showcase. And I’m hoping this will be something different all around, maybe bringing some of the better High Republic era feel from the books and comics with it.
I wouldn’t get my hopes too high. In that period they can:
A Wookiee Jedi is perfectly plausible. The downfall of that character will be the man bun they gave him.

I love this line. I especially love that they’ve completely embraced Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars. It gets no merch otherwise! Must be because of its alternate Micro Series title.

And that’s it for the Prime Timeline. As much as I enjoy First Contact, I’m more than willing to sacrifice it so that TNG ends definitively with All Good Things.
I’ve never taken “DISCO” and its spin-off to be in the Prime timeline to begin with so hopefully that points to SNW and the rest to be Kelvin after all.
I will say, if you’re a fan of the franchise. Lower Decks is worth the watch. It like most Trek has a pretty bad first season but it improves as it goes on and you can tell the people running that show are real fans of the legacy franchise pre-Abrams.
Here’s the ending of ROTS. I’m pretty happy with how this is turning out.
I’m coming into this very late, so this might have already been discussed. But have you thought about or experimented with changing their birth order so that Leia is born first? That way it’s Leia that spends the most time with her mother, is even caressed by her before her death. I think it would really help to smooth over the inconsistencies with ROTJ.
I have my blu-ray copy ready to go. Hopefully I’ll have some time tonight to watch.
