It’s already established Gigan and Mechagodzilla have the unaltered dub tracks (no reverting to a clean M&E source/no lost voice work/no sync issues), but the remaining three are all okay because Son of Godzilla’s Titan dub has never been released digitally (and the domestic R1 of the export dub is OOP), Godzilla 1985 has never been released digitally on home video, and the theatrical sound mix is not on the MonstersHD version (What’s missing: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2qesua) (I already have a marginally better audio source on account of the Image LaserDisc but whatever), and Ghidrah’s DVD version is a rather poor reconstruction of the U.S. version not mastered from an actual complete U.S. visual source. These are all fair game for MS.

I wouldn’t mind raw VIDEO_TS folders of Mechagodzilla and Gigan to go up on the 'spleen (I would prefer folders so I can edit using the files and seed without having to extract an .iso which would take up unnecessary space).

It's a video master of a release print that's notable for having the theatrical end title. It was used for a screener, and two official Spanish VHS releases (one is dubbed, the other subtitled).

The Big Boss is an older example I can think of. There was the original 115 minute Hong Kong premiere version, which had loads of scenes and shots that were cut out for the international edit and the HK censors board compliant general release (e.g. the coal cart sequence, the infamous "saw in head" shot, Cheng's extended vow of revenge, the second prostitute scene, etc.) Some of the deleted bits are notorious for appearing in the original Mandarin and international trailers. After a final showing in the UK a few years later, the original Mandarin cut disappeared entirely because all the cuts were done on the camera negative.

Then there's the topic of the original English dub that was jettisoned after the Peter Thomas score and the new dub were recorded (the export dub remained notoriously rare for a while and is still only really available in an 87 minute fragment). All foreign versions' scripts are based on the original dub, however, and sometimes fall back on the Mandarin score for a few scenes.

The original base international version had all of the cut bits of dialogue that now only appear in the FSK 18 German VHS version of the film (and what's left of a battered release print of the original English dub), and the fully uncut ending where Cheng stabs the boss and the entire staredown is shown (this appears in the original French version minus the final punches).

The 1973 U.S. version and a lot of foreign dubs that use the Peter Thomas score censor the final stabbing scene, but keep the staredown. The Cantonese reissue version on the other hand shows the blood flowing down Hsiao Mi's shirt, but trims the staredown.

Most DVD releases that have the U.S. dub but use the Cantonese cut for the picture fall back on the export dub for the river scene for some reason.

Can somebody with any knowledge on nabbing rtmp video streams help me with this one? This transfer of the film uses a version that’s textless for all but the title screen. I believe it used to air on Starz and Encore in fullscreen for some time, but it’s since been replaced on HDTV with a transfer that has proper international credits, and the BD version is a total mess that uses the inferior Toho '08 scan for most of the picture for some unknown reason.

I know I have a fullscreen vhs version and the US DVD release.  The colors on the vhs are a bit washed out to me.  I also have a Japan DVD release.

 The Korean DVD is a totally unique transfer. Very vibrant for a release of the Japanese assembly, and there are amusing Engrish subtitles.

There's been a resurgence of this old, allegedly fullscreen DVD release of the Toho cut of Godzilla 2000: Millennium on eBay recently. I should be getting one of these in the mail sooner or later. If the color timing is anything different from the R2 or the '08 HD version, I'll share my findings.

 No, but the pan and scan jobs are different from the Power Multimedia/Cinema Shares 16mm versions (referring to Gigan and Mechagodzilla). There are some missing dubbed bits that don't appear in the Sony DVD version of Mechagodzilla that appear in all other copies (Eiko screaming at the refinery and Kuronuma's "Move over!" in reel 6). The Sony version of Gigan's dub is also a complete synchronization disaster.

Raw DVD5s of Gigan and Mechagodzilla would be nice since I don't have the Starmaker LDs and my tapes of those particular transfers are EP.

Increasingly psyched for a complete mouse droppings trilogy.

I'd love to see a scan of a flat 16mm print of Star Wars.

I'm not completely familiar with it, but is all you're looking for is a way to drop one duplicate frame out of 25?  Is the source interlaced?

 Yeah, pretty much. Yup, it's an interlaced transfer (It's TFM/Telecide compliant).

Has anybody ever dealt with 2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:2:3 pulldown PAL transfers before? I've tried several basic ChangeFPS settings to decimate the redundant frames back to 23.976/film speed, but I always end up with skipped/duplicated frames. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Gradually becoming more hyped for this. It'd be cool if Jedi has some weird mono version too.

I'd be interested in learning the basic principles involved for this kind of process. I remember Criterion used a similar method for restoring the color to the badly faded 70mm trims for their Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World roadshow reconstruction.
