I wonder if you’ll get banned for the second account or for bitching about the new forum in your signature…

I already explained that to the mods, the site wasn’t letting me sign into my old account or recover my old account. We have dealt with that.

As for the sig, that is a quote that appeared in both The Five Doctors and The Day of the Doctor and given how much the forum has changed since I was last here it just seemed like a fun little quote to use.

Just finished a Seinfeld marathon, the whole show, start to finish.
I wanna do it again!!

oh, and, one more thing, for anyone named Jerry in real life:

Jerry!! Hellooooooo!!!

Uncle Leo

Oh you want a good laugh, look up a scene from the second ever episode of the ABC series Castle(A series I gave up on a few episodes into this season so don’t ask me more about it),Uncle Leo has a cameo that features one of the best scenes in the series.

I know a lot of people who bash Seinfield and find it dated but I still enjoy pretty much all the episodes. You can tell the cast and writers were trying to make a good show and having fun doing it.

It’s a truly great series.

I watched all thirteen episodes of the Babylon 5 spinoff Crusade last week.

I want more episodes, dammit!

Yeah, TNT canceled the show before the first episode even aired and that didn’t stop them from messing with the show behind the scenes but in the episodes we have I get a good impression of just how good the characters and story could have been, I really wish we had more episodes and TNT hadn’t screwed this show over.

Very recommended. so underrated. deserved way more than 2 seasons. I encourage fans of Arrested Development fans check it out. similar style of humor, plus even stars Portia.

Yeah the fact that this show only got two short seasons and Two and Half men was on for what felt like half the lifespan of the human race always makes me sad. I am so glad I recorded the episodes and burnt them to Bluray discs when they aired because as far as I know season 2 has never been released on home video and season 1 was only released on DvD.

I am working my way through Alias and have just gotten to the end of episode eight of season 2. I watched this show back in the day but I forgot about most of it over the years and I have to say I am enjoying it and it is funny seeing a big name like Bradly Cooper playing an unlucky supporting character on a show. If you can get your head into the space it needs to be in order to accept this for what it is, then it is a great piece of Sci-Spy.

The scores are really good and you can seeing why the composer’s next project was The Incredibles for Pixar. It’s a fun show that has me hooked and I am enjoying it.

Oh and the guy who played The Stepfather is in season 2 and he is good. Don’t get me wrong that movie was really stupid but he was really creepy in it so it’s nice to see him in something good.

Superman (1941) (Mild-Mannered Edition) (Released)

One thing I read about these which I couldn’t verify was that, in the original first cartoon, Clark’s line at the end of the first scene is, “Chief, don’t you think that’s a dangerous job for a woman?” On all the editions I have, it’s just “dangerous job.” I’d be curious to see if that’s true.

Here’s the Max Fleischer’s Superman 1941-1942 (Warner Bros 2008) set I used for most of the video.

Yeah that has been edited if the woman bit is left out. I remember because the first VHS tape I ever owned as a kid was a tape of public domain cartoons that contained one Mickey Mouse cartoon(I wasn’t aware Disney ever let those lapse)and it ended with that exact short and it was the first time I was Superman in anything and I watched it to death and the woman part was there in the public domain print I saw. So if the version of the short you have doesn’t have that part of the line in it then it had been edited.

Info Wanted: Unaltered Star Trek TOS in HD? does an HD version of the unaltered original Star Trek series even officially exist?
Time

Wazzles said:

I’m not entirely sure it’s seamless. The color timing of the live action shots is much less saturated in the unaltered versions. Also, they only use the original mono audio.

I really have not noticed that, the only shots that were unrestored were the special effects shots and that was because they were too far gone to save.

As for the audio you can just switch to the new surround sound mix using the audio button on your remote and watch the original versions with the new audio mix that way.

I have to say that while there are places where I would have like to see a better restoration job done(More in line with what was done to old Doctor Who DvDs)so far I have been pretty happy with the Bluray releases of both TOS and TNG and I wish someone had been able to show this to Lucas and explain to him that this was all we want. I would still pay for the SEs if the GOUT was included the same way it is with the TOS Blurays.

I can’t speak for anyone else but that is all I ever wanted.

Hey could you tell me how you got these covers to the correct size for a standard Bluray case? What program did you use. I ask because a lot of my favorite shows seem to get canceled after just a season or two and never get a Bluray release, so I burn my own Blurays of them from recordings I make off of TV and I try making my own covers with paint, but I never seem to be able to size them right and they always come out way too big or way to small and searching good turns up tons of programs that work for DvD sized cases but none that seem to work for Bluray sized cases and I have a lot of empty Bluray cases, not DvD cases at the moment.

Thanks for your time and thanks for these covers.

You can find some template images and dimensions for blu-ray covers here. Also, don’t use Microsoft Paint 😉 Try using paint.net or gimp. Both a free and way better than paint.

Okay thanks a bunch. This will make it much easier for me to find my discs on the shelf.

I really enjoyed Spectre too. I personally am a huge fan of the 70s and 80s Bond films (and I even really like the Brosnan ones), so I liked the sillyness and lightheartedness of the action scenes. That being said, the plot was pretty muddy, but not enough to get in the way of my enjoyment too much.

Yeah same here pretty much but I did like Tomorrow never dies and I think if Brosnan had been allowed to play the part the way he wanted the films would have been better.

I think in the post 24 world I have just accepted that the plots of anything spy related are always going to be confusing and have problems so I think that is why I put up with problems with the plots of Bond movies that I wouldn’t in any other movie. That and as you said the action scenes were a lot of fun and full of energy and what is more they looked really good and that is a rare combo these days so I think this film is tied with TFA at the moment as my favorite movie of 2015.

James Bond 007 Thread

Yay!!! I think it was a valid complaint. The gun barrel opening was a tradition that went back to From Russia With Love, and is inspired by the opening credits from Dr. No. I always felt it set the perfect mood for a Bond movie. It never felt right that it wasn’t there in Casino Royal, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall. There was no reason to get rid of it.

Yeah I was glad to see it back as well. I have a feeling this will be Crieg’s last movie(I have no behind the scenes info on this so if I have missed something sorry)as it just feels like the end of the road for his version of Bond and there isn’t anywhere they could go in a sequel that I feel the general public would like. I mean that either have to kill off the girl from this movie(I am sorry I don’t remember her name but I have only seen the movie once) and have him go on a revenge mission and that is something that seems to happen to every action hero these days, or they have to show Bond settled down and then have him come back for some reason and they either have to have him not bed woman in that movie or have him cheat on the wife or girlfriend that he left MI6 for in the first place and I don’t think either of those moves would be popular with the general public or work for the character.

That said I really liked this movie. Like Skyfall before it the direction of the action struck just the right balance between the artistic and the modern and exciting, and I was always able to tell what was happening in the scenes. Every scene in this movie looks so polish and has a very classic film feel to it while not feeling like a time capsule. It’s hard to explain but I love the look of this and Skyfall because they look modern and yet classic at the same time and the two styles never seem to clash, they are just two of the best looking action movies I have ever seen.

The acting was strong and while the story was a little weak it was also fun when it had to be but didn’t forget to treat Bond as a character and not just an icon and it had just enough of the gadgets to feel like a Bond movie without going too far like something like Die another Day or some of the other films.

It wasn’t perfect but it did feel like the perfect goodbye to this version of Bond and I hope that is what it turns out to be.

I say this as someone who’s favorite film is OHMSS, who’s favorite Bond is Dalton, and who’s fifth favorite Bond movie is Moonraker, this was a really good Bond movie and it just worked for me. I will be getting it on Bluray as soon as it comes out.

8.5/10.

2)Does it sync up with the Rifftrax? That isn’t a deal breaker for me but it would great if it did since watching this special with the rifftrax has become a Christmas tradition in my house.

The Rifftrax commentary does not sync up to the EditDroid version because it contains no commercials like the “Google” version the Rifftrax is based off of, among other reasons.

In the interest of comparing all the SWHS releases, I am actually working on a screenshot comparison page similar to the old OT screenshots site I made several years ago. Stay tuned.

Okay thanks, that is fine. I was just wondering.

Can’t wait to see the screenshots.

Wow, this is what I get for being out of the loop for so long! 😃 I was just saying in another thread how I would like for there to be some Blu ray covers in this style and since I don’t have any good photo editing software I can’t make them on my own, and little did I know you had already done it.

Wow, those look great! That’s the VHS edition that was given to my mom by my aunt and so that is the one I grew up with.

Even though it would mean putting my Blurays in DvD cases I my use those for my DE Blu Rays because those are my favorite home video covers of all time.

Now if I could find a way to resize them for a Blu Ray case that would be amazing but I will take what I can get, because I love the look of those things so much.

Dr. Crow, did you lose your old login info? If you plan to keep this new account, we would want to ban the old one because of the one account/no sockpuppet rule.

Yeah, I did sorry. I went through the steps to get my old password emailed to me but it never showed up, so I used the backup email address I keep to avoid spam to create a new account. I couldn’t think of anything else to do.
I figured my old log in info had just been deleted after so many months because of space issues or something, so you can go ahead and delete the old account. Sorry for the confusion.

Read anything over the last month. It is being worked on.

Okay, thanks. Sorry for the dumb question, I have been out of the loop for a long time.

Best software for printing Bluray covers
Time

Okay I want to print out some Bluray covers, I have tons of extra BluRay cases that are just normal sized Bluray cases, there is just one problem, I have tried several different programs and they all either print out the case too large or too small.

I have tried using a tape measure to measure the size of all parts of the cases and everything, but the print outs always come out the wrong size.

Is there a program out there that will print out a Bluray cover in the correct size for a normal sized Bluray case?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I have found plenty of programs that do this for DvD cases, but none that seem to work with Bluray cases.

Thank you for your time.

I have the widescreen laserdisc if anyone wants the song…can it be inserted into a 720p HD version of the film itself? I have no clue how to do any of that, but it pains me we’ve reached another Christmas without the true version of the film.

I would be willing to provide a copy of the widescreen LD for “When Love Is Gone” via an AVC MP4 or a DVD. Please let me know

I would be willing to give it a shot. Not sure how well it would stack up and my video edited software is not the best, but I have been getting better. If you would like to send me a copy on DvD I could try to make it work. The footage may end up not looking as good as the bluray footage around it but I would love for there to be a widescreen version of some kind of this film with the song in it since I feel the song is the heart of the movie and it keeps popping up on the film score so the film feels weird without it in there.

Well I just thought I would make the offer, I am still learning the ropes of this sort of thing, but I do enjoy giving it a try.

Preserving the...<em>cringe</em>...Star Wars Holiday Special (Released)

Okay I know it has been a while since I posted here and that is because I had a complete mental breakdown, but I am better now, I am seeing a skrink and I am on good meds. I only mention this because I feel like I missed something big while I was away. First the forum has completely changed and second there seems to be some sort of fan restoration of the Holiday special that looks amazing when compared to the old VHS to DvD transfer I have been using. I spotted this when I watched JonTron’s latest episode of Starcade and his copy of the Holiday special just blew me away.

I want to say great job to whoever did this. I just have two quick questions and I know they both must seem stupid but I am way out of the loop here.

1)What is the name of this restoration? I would like to search for it on Myslpeen or elsewhere. Opps, never mind I just found it. Sorry.

2)Does it sync up with the Rifftrax? That isn’t a deal breaker for me but it would great if it did since watching this special with the rifftrax has become a Christmas tradition in my house.

Sorry if these questions are stupid but my internet still goes in and out in a way that makes searching every page of this thread really hard.

Well thank you for your time and it is great to be back! 😃

P.s I will not see this for a long time since it will take month or two to download on my connection but from what I saw on JonTron it looks amazing, great job Editdroid! I am looking forward to seeing this.
