I did receive a DVD copy of the newly-discovered WBBM version.  The quality is also about a 9/10 and looks really good, almost having an edge over the KCCI version--however, due to the rough commercial edits (done on a VCR originally), the intro missing a few seconds, and numerous video glitches here and there, the KCCI is still the best version.

I'd still like to get hold of the original videotape if possible to see what kind of transfer we can get of it.  I'll continue looking into that.

--SKot

But, can't you just replace the missing bits of the intros and the video glitches with frames from the KCCI version?

I know I asked this question before, but nobody answered me.

Rapidshare links may still be active, for those that are into that sort of thing. Try searching for "KCCI" at fileshunt.com.

Thanks, Moth3r, that helped.

I would like to purchase the best copy of the Holiday Special that I can get and am willing to pay a reasonable about.

I had previously bought a good copy on ebay, I believe in retrospect that it was the KCCI version, but I don't recall.  It had the TV Guide artwork on the dvd case and the spine of the dvd matched the official movie releases reasonably well.  I loaned my copy to a friend over a year ago and now said friend can't locate it.  With the 30th anniversary of this stinker coming up, I'd like to watch it again.

I can be contacted by email at indyracingfan at hotmail dot com

Thanks very much, and May the Force be with you.

I downloaded one marked Angrysun Blak0019 KCCI on mini nova.  It took forever (several days!) to download on my computer.  I finally got it completed and fired it up, and it's not the KCCI version as advertised, but the KCMO version.

Talk about frustrating!

I really want to find the angrysun KCCI version.  Can someone point me to a torrent that is the correct one?

I just want to know for sure before I bog down the computer spending that much time trying to download it again that it will be the correct one I'm looking for.

Thanks for any help!

A few pages back I mentioned that I got another copy of the SWHS from someone on Fanedit.org.  Finally got around to checking it out and backtracking what I got.

Short version - see this post at FE

Presentation is better, as it has an actual menu screen and some other content on it.  Video quality looks decent enough, but I don't know enough about the differences in the various copies floating around that I could ID one section over another as coming from which copy.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

Two pages back, post 214:

Look for the station ID on your recording.
Or are you saying your version may be a composite?

Author
Time

Yes, it's a composite.  I haven't watched it all the way through, just saying that it's possible the station ID was removed by virtue of mixing and matching from various sources.

For those not registered at the above forum - is it this version?

I just checked mine and I have the KCCI version! Sweet!

Happy Life Day!  We celebrated the 30th Anniversary here with about 25-30 friends (or at least they *were* friends beforehand), and watched it on a big projection screen at 8:00 pm.  It was a beautiful thing.  Like a train wreck is beautiful... see?

It'll be hard to top it for the 35th...

Has anybody been able to grab this video?  I've tried everything I know and still can't touch it.

Damn embedded Flash videos!

Snapz Pro should be able to handle it.

...if you're on a Mac, that is.  :(

Actually, even if I could run the software, it wouldn't do the trick for me.  Snapz records exactly what's on your screen, but I can't even get the video to play properly without pauses and glitches every few seconds.  I wouldn't want to record that.  And of course it doesn't cache properly, so when you try to back up the pointer it loads all over again from that point and plays back just as poorly if not worse.

For the sake of being able to merely view it, I really just need to stream it to a file and watch it offline.  Orbit has worked in the past (with some difficulty), but not now.

Did I mention how much I hate Flash?

In the old (Mac) days, you could just go into the System/Preferences folder and pull files out of the cache. I miss the old days, but for all I know there could be some hidden-folder trick that still works.

Perhaps you should also mention it to whoever is going to be interviewing you?

What do you have against John Wesley Shipp?
