Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) - Theatrical Cut Restoration Project (* unfinished *)
Time

the blu-ray is main video source. the theatrical cut scenes will be taken from the hd broadcast. if possible i try to keep the video untouched as much as possible. meaning no re-encode for the most part of the movie. only the re-inserted theatrical scenes would be encoded to vc-1 and then joined.

there are options to do this, which will be tested upfront. if i can't get it to work, the whole movie will be re-encoded to avc.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) - Theatrical Cut Restoration Project (* unfinished *)
Time

the movie has a soft spot in my movie heart. it’s not the greatest movie ever made, but it has many things to like. besides, the cast is full of a who-is-who. unfortunately warner bros. decided with the release of the extended cut on dvd, that the original theatrical version is no longer existent for home video. i had a little bit hopes that with the blu-ray release we get to choose which version we want to view. nope, we only got the extended cut.

for some time now i wanted to restore the theatrical cut, but i was lacking a high quality source for the audio. but now i’m able to do so, with the help of a few folks.

source to be used in this project

blu-ray
hd broadcast capture as the foundation of the theatrical cut - special thanks to jj666
ntsc laserdisc for the pcm audio - special thanks to bendermac

unless someone has a better source then the hd broadcast version i have, please let me know, i’m going to start this project.

Idea & Help Wanted: 'The Great Escape' (1963) - Original Mono Preservation
Time

i want to start a preservation of the original mono mix the great escape, because this mix not included on the blu-ray. for this project i have the old u.s. dvd which contains the mono mix in dolby audio. but a full preservation would could only be achieved by using the uncompressed audio, which can be found on the criterion laserdisc.

so anyone can help me getting the laserdisc audio, this would be very much appreciated.

thanks in advance

Info: James Bond - Laserdisc Preservations: 1962-1971

dts 2.0 never worked for me. my amplifier wont properly decode it, as i always only get a stereo output. even blu-ray authors say that dts 2.0 can create problems at the end user level, like i have.

best option is to simply stay pcm for 2.0 (incl. matrix encoded audio) sources. file size is mostly not even relevant. pcm ensures the highest compatibility.

btw, if you use .dtshd files with tsmuxer/mkvtoolnix make sure to add a -21ms delay. you can also add the delay in eac3to and then you can add the new .dts in tsmuxer/mkvtoolnix without problems

this delay only applies to dts-hd files. normal dts core can just be added without any delay.

So does anyone know if there is an English dub for Hard Boiled?

Thanks

Its available on the criterion edition and on the english variations also available  remixed to 5.1.

are you sure? on my cc laserdisc is no english audio and according to dvdcompare there is no english dub on it either.

nevermind, for some reason i've read the killer and not hard boiled. i have the fox lorber dvd and could provide the english dub if needed.
