I have to be honest, since this thread is discussing the merits of films at the moment, I personally enjoy X3, and while it has some flawed character usage and some cheesey RPG elements (Level 4 mutants?!), in many ways it's my favorite of the trilogy. It takes risks and alters/kills major characters. It is emotional. It didn't get old to me as quickly as the previous two did. It's exciting. And it has far and away the best soundtrack of the trilogy. People talk like it's a horrible movie, but it's much better than the X-men prequels that don't even fit the continuity.

X-Men: First Class is waaay better than X-Men 3.

Not sure I agree. I thought First Class was still really goofy. And it doesn't match any continuity. At least X-Men 3 was a sequel to X-Men 2.

Psh.

Are people really this overly sensitive?

He *spoilers* didn't say he was adopted and that that made him evil. He had just finished saying that he was family, he was reminded that Loki was evil, and then he distanced himself from the villain he claims as family by citing the adoption.

People are too eager to get offended sometimes.

I'm also hoping a deleted scene or two clears up the Stark-Banner arrangement. I'm not sure why Stark trusted Banner/Hulk as much as he did.

Haven't seen the film yet but character wise, it's probably because they both have the genius/scientist thing going on - Stark is a technology whiz, Banner is a biology whiz. Not that Thor and Cap are dumb, but it's something Banner and Stark have in common outside of the hero/team thing.

See the movie. I think you'll know what I'm talking about.

Idea & Info: Looking forward to... Avengers - The Extended Fan Cut Spoilers

Saw it. Loved it. Can’t wait to edit it.

It seems Joss is planning to release 30 minutes of deleted scenes, but not an extended edition… but I’m sure they will be reintegrated as soon as the BD hits shelves by the fans.

However, here is a short list of things I’d like to see changed in a fan edit as well- (feel free to argue and add your own)

Iron Man voice- You only hear it once or twice in Iron Man but I thought the modified voice that came from the suit was much more fitting of the character than the lightly tinned RDJr voice. I’m sure there are half-a-dozen people reading this right now that know exactly what effect and how to use it to make the Iron Man voice sound more like that… Make it so. (You can make the argument that since Stark’s identity as Iron Man isn’t a secret, he doesn’t need a “secret” voice. Surely he doesn’t need one for that reason, but it just sounds better.

Iron Man’s mask when it’s off- I blame Michael Keaton and Batman Returns. Ever since then, every masked character seems to spend 50% of their costume-on time with their masks off. The filmmakers are running out of ways to keep those masks on… As far as this movie goes, I think the worst shot was the end one with Iron Man maskless. Again, you can make the argument that Thor ripped the mask off and Tony took the rest of the helmet off… but it just looks… self indulgent… to see the final shot with all of the heroes maskless. Except Hulk. Thank goodness they didn’t have an angry Banner staring down the villain.

Captain America’s mask when it’s on- It just looks horrible. The mask in the Cap movie looked good enough… I’m just not sure what happened here. Maybe this a compromise between what the comic version looks like and what an actual real person can wear on their real head. I don’t know. Someone fix it. And then keep it on Cap through the end of the movie, as per the last paragraph.

While we’re at it, why do Cap’s stripes usually not go all of the way around the back? I thought it looked funny. Like he was wearing a cheap Halloween costume that couldn’t concern itself with the back of the costume or hiding the zipper. Cap’s WWII suit was so great… it’s a shame that his Avengers suit is what it is. Somebody fix it.

Hawkeye’s quiver- Maybe the deleted scenes will fix this somewhat. But I think his quiver had 2 settings: A) Full and B) One Arrow Left (One buhlwet weft?). A slowly depleting quiver would be a nice touch.

War Machine- Some line, from someone somewhere about why War Machine was excluded from the final battle would be nice. In the standard Mavel Universe, there are always lots of capable heroes who just seem to not care about an alien invasion that day. But in the cinematic universe, War Machine seems to be about the only one sitting on the sidelines.

Thunderbolt Ross- Add him as face in the Shield Council and call it done. Or something.

Black Widow- Anyway that someone can dub her with a light Ruskie accent? Probably a disaster to try, but if someone could pull it off…

All for now.

I don't hate it, but it really suffers in comparison to the original. I just didn't laugh very much.

You're short, your belly-button sticks out too far, and you're a terrible burden on your poor mother.

Video Games - a general discussion thread
Time

I played GK1 shortly after it came out- possibly when GK2 came out. So I don't think it was an incompatibility issue as much as it was a game code issue. Lots of people suffered from the same bug, if I recall. There were save games that would have dropped me right where I got stopped... but somehow I lost my steam on it.

Since it's been over 10 years, I doubt I could pick it up where I left off and be plussed by the experience anyhow.

It's just not the same, man. I own the DVD with it, but watching it without the motion simulator would ruin any and all memory I have of it so I've chosen not to do a rewatch.

You can come to my house and watch it in my motion simulator.

Once you apologize for your negative John Carter comments, which were unfounded.*

Ghostbusters II- I was told to not watch for years.

I finally did.

I loved it.

Not sure why Frink hates it.

Looking forward to Avengers this weekend. There's a deal with K-Mart and hershey's that's worth looking into.

And Tron Legacy = Paradise Lost.

all those emotional outbursts can be explained by a virus, a poison from a plant, and Pon Farr.

His emotional outburst in the 2009 film is also explained. In fact, it's at his own request that it's caused.

What about the one at the beginning of the film with lil' Spock?

Vulcan toughs: Hey Spocky-wocky. You're dumb!
lil' Spock: Your current attempts to elicit an emotional response from me are illogical, as your previous 64.8 attempts were.
Vulcan toughs: Your mom is dumb.
lil' Spock: Why I oughtta!

Quinto's Spock > Nimoy's 2009 Spock? Sorry but no way could any Quinto Spock could be > any Nimoy Spock, even Nimoy's 2009 spock.

I respectfully disagree.

Nimoy's 2009 Spock was the most unSpock-like Spock impersonation I have ever seen. Quinto's was spot on the money by comparison.
