You'd better tell him, Ric.
You'd better tell him, Ric.
Does anyone have that massive McQuarrie book that goes for $250 on ebay?

And finally... Return Of The Jedi. Hmmm.... it's a shame McQuarrie didn't do any real poster work for Return Of The Jedi as the stuff out there just doesn't seem to be quite as interesting as what I got for the other covers. I simply went for battle-tasticness instead of the artwork we've seen countless times on covers before! Just edited an odd poster I could only find in diminished res. Anyone got a hi-res version of this pic? Front may change if I come across something really special and logo on front my change to original classic type too. Anyway... I'm beat now. Enjoy all...

I have to weigh in and say that the movie titles on SW and ESB match the pictures well. A New Hope has Luke and Co. centered below and rising against the shadowy Empire. ?The Empire Strikes Back has the hand of Vader reaching out to crush the rebellion. But Return of the Jedi doesn't show a Jedi returning at all. I know you have limited amount of art to work from, but if you could find something that fits the title better?
I like when Guillermo del Toro calls it "Hal-o" as if he's answering the phone. He worked on the movie somewhat. On the Hellboy 2 commentary he talks about designing the Spartan helmet so that it would have some kind of movement when a Spartan spoke. Not sure if it was a series of head nods like it is in Red vs Blue or something more elaborate.

My first impression of Ric Olie when I was 12 was that he was the most stunning-looking male I'd ever seen, and I still remember how I felt when I watch SW, and he always makes the "top 3 sexiest/prettiest/handsomest devils from Naboo" lists, either.
Fixed. :)
It's just too bad he always comes in behind Panaka.
Ric, he's just trying to be nice. It's not him. It's you.
I think the cheese discussion moved to the Naboo Devil thread. The Naboo Devil discussion is now in the Politics thread.
Where would one find this blasphemous analogy?
What a relief!
Not quite what you are looking for, but I had the same fan subs as MrBrown and found them to reek of babelfish. I went through and corrected them to some degree and synced them to the DVD for playback in Zoom Player. It was always my intention to burn them to DVD, but I ran out of steam on the project. I rented the US DVD later and didn't care much for the translation- especially since it was missing the animated subs.
That being said, I'll have to check out the Netflix Streaming version.
I have my other subs somewhere if anyone if interested.
If you want to talk about the show, I recommend you start your own kriffing thread and talk about it! We're talking about Canon, Videogames, and self delusion in this thread.

It was better when I thought (as Zahn did) that the clones were a threat the Old Republic military fought against, and weren't directly connected to the Emperor's rise to power. I still adhere to this view because it's just plain better.
Go on, I'm listening. I thought the Spaartii cylinders were in the Emperor's Storehouse because they belonged to the Empire or the Republic just prior to becoming the Empire.

I always think she bears a striking resemblance to young Carrie Fisher.
I realize I'm biased, but the resemblance is minimal.
In my eyes - you'd be hard-pressed to find a woman as breathtakingly beautiful as Carrie Fisher was when she was young.
Is "funhouse mirror version of Carrie Fisher" a better comparison?
Or maybe this: She looks like how one might imagine old Carrie Fisher when she was young (assuming one did not know or have access to lovely pictures of the lady such as you posted.)
And why are you biased? Are you secretly Carrie Fisher's dad or something?
It was definitely before I saw Phantom Menace. It was probably the Special Editions or when they came to tape... It might have been the revisionist history interviews with old George at the beginning of the tape... I don't know. But I still had no concept of how terrible Episode 1 was going to be.
At the risk of diverting this back on topic... I still hope Avatar is good. I just hope Cameron doesn't destroy his reputation like some others...
But you can't tell I'm picking my nose?
What about now?
I thought that they were really building this Lord of the Rings style "the end of the magical age" idea when they introduced the East India Trading Company. The idea the world was endless and unexplorered was soon coming to an end. The world was outgrowing pirates and krakkens and the undead and was settling into more reasonable mature things like trade routes and sales on spices.
At the theatre, you mean.
Well, that's one hour closer.
As long as I'm deluding myself into thinking there haven't been any new Star Wars movies since 1983, I'm okay right?
You owe me $50...
I also wanted to point out that I play on a 120" Front Projection screen with 7.1 surround sound.
I'm hardcore.
(When my wife lets me, that is.)
How's your Halo-a-thon going? I wouldn't say it's the greatest thing ever, but I am a big fan. I worked at Barnes and Noble when the books started coming out. I assumed that they were terrible and never game them much thought. Then I was lurking in a Halo forum when Halo 3 was coming out and several people expressed this sentiment:
"I thought the books looked terrible. Someone told me they were good. I read them. I really liked them!"
So, I gave them a shot and with a couple exceptions (The Flood, Contact Harvest) I have to say they are really good. They have definitely increased my appreciation of the Halo Universe. Heck, my wife even read (nay, devoured!) all of the books as well.
I may need someone to play ODST Co-op with, so we may have to set something up sometime. What timezone are you in? I'm in Mountain (GMT-7/6DST)
What, no Love at First Bite?
Nightmare before Christmas (is this a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie? I either watch it for both or call it somewhere inbetween and watch it at Thanksgiving)
Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin
Sleepy Hollow
Disney's Ichabod Crane
Thriller
Young Frankenstein
My Boyfriend's Back
And I picked up a copy of Monster Squad a year or two ago. I'm a little nervous about watching it and realizing that not only is it not great... but that it's actually terrible.
I am also not a big fan of the Horror genre, but I enjoy Evil Dead. I never really thought about them as Halloween movies, though.
