I've heard "they"'re actually considering rewickering the song "What's more American than... I am!" to replace the lyric "What's more American than Baseball? I am, I am I am!" with "What's more American than Warcraft? I am, I am, I am!"
Okay, maybe I made that up. It wouldn't be so bad if it was "What's more American than BioShock?"
It was the Episode subtitle on the 1978 re-release and all of the home video releases. Not that that necessarily changes your answers, but the subtitle was around for all but one year of the 33 year history of "that movie." It's not like George invented it for the Special Editions or for the Prequels.
I see what you're doing there and it's a very creative solution to the Vader misdirection problem. Maybe you just need to explain it better since you said you have other puzzle pieces you haven't laid out yet... but here's my read so far:
Cloning has to be reeled in somehow in the NPT. Cloning seems to be such a powerful technology that any fictional universe which contains the possibility of cloning would need to be almost exclusively about cloning.
Maybe let me phrase this as a question: Why don't we see any clones around the time of the OT? Maybe some of the Stormtrooper force is still made up of clones... and we're told that Boba Fett is actually a clone (whatevs!) but no one is talking about cloning Mon Mothma and replacing the head of the Alliance with an ersatz clone. When they capture Leia and torture her on the DS, why don't they just clone her and send the clone back to Alderaan or let Luke and Han rescue the clone. (Or didn't they? Hmm...) What the heck is Vader doing in his damaged, scarred, robot body if he could just order a new perfect one up from room service? Just like the early EU had something of a Superweapon problem, introducing cloning into Star Wars, unless it was somehow specifically restrained, would just overtake every Star Wars story. Think of world history since the US dropped the bombs in Japan- a large amount of it has been about keeping secret, reverse engineering, stockpiling, limiting production, etc. of atomic weapons.
Yet cloning, though unexplored, has been a part of the Star Wars fiction ever since Luke and Ben talked about the Clone Wars in A New Hope.
Conclusion: The prequels had to have cloning in them. The NPT has to have cloning in it. BUT, cloning should be restricted in some way as to explain why it's not any more widespread than it is. And then, the door on that technology must be more or less closed so that it is relatively a non-factor by the time the OT rolls around. I don't know how to introduce that door so that it can be closed in a series of movies made 30 years ago. But if you can figure that out, I think you'd be on your way to having a decent foundation upon which you can build your Clone Wars backdrop for a New Prequel Trilogy.
Have you ever fired two guns whilst jumping through the air?
I prefer "A New Hope". There, I've come out and said it. Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope in full or ANH in short. I suspect many of you will stick by simply "Star Wars" and I can respect that. But for myself, I think referring to "Star Wars" without any qualifiers always leads the listener to wonder what exactly someone means when you say it. And saying "The First One" always makes people guess from context whether you mean A New Hope or The Phantom Menace.
My theory is that the rest of the Star Wars fanbase, those snot-nosed, Prequel lovin', baby-seal-clubbin' losers prefer "A New Hope" as well, and we in the OTT community try to put as much distance between us and them as possible and that is how many of us have arrived at "Star Wars." But, I'm following Nanner's example and being an uncomformist (am I doing that right?) and I'm just going to stick with "A New Hope" from now on.
I like Beck, but only in small doses. He's very sarcastic and goofy- which I can appreciate, but again I doubt he's bringing anybody over the fence with that tact. I mentioned Mark Levin in the other thread, so I guess I'll drop his name here again. He just comes across as so angry and I don't dig the whole "superstar/god" presentation (HE'S HERE! THE GREAT ONE!!!)
I actually really Anne Coulter. But I wouldn't recommend her to any liberals or borderline conservatives because she's just so abrasive. I think if you took her ideas and presented them with less vinegar... I think she'd be pretty hard to dismiss. As is, however...
Which brings me to this question: Is the purpose of a pundit to convince people HE's right? Or to convince the people listening to the pundit that THEY are right?
My Brother-in-Law is in town and he wanted to play something online. After spending 10 minutes trying to figure it out- it turns out you can't play Modern Warfare Split Screen and online at the same time. :(
So, we ended up playing Halo 3 online/split screen. (We invited C3PX, but he preferred just to listen to some tunes. Loser.) And we ended up on the Rocket Race Double XP playlist. I'd never played that before and I actually really liked it. For those who don't know, it's very reminiscent of Mario Kart Double Dash- There are 4 teams of 2 and Rocket launchers are the only weapon and you get unlimited ammo. You race around on Mongooses (Mongeese?) where one person drives and the other shoots. Random checkpoints appear on the map and the goal is to get there before the other teams. If you can't get there before another team- shoot them with a rocket and see if that changes your options!
I think it's probably the most enjoyable when you're sharing a screen with your teammate- but maybe it's fun purely online too- I don't know.

It was one of those hats that has the drink holders and the straws. I look flippin' rad in it, drinking a mountain dew and a welches grape at the same time.
Wait... what? Wasn't that my line?

I couldn't find a dirty old baseball to save my life. In fact, I had a pretty rough time finding a baseball period. Wal-Mart was sold out of them, and said that since Summer was over (uuuh, it is only July!) that they wouldn't be getting anymore in until after Christmas. Finally found a brand new ball and sandpapered off all the markings. Need to figure out a way to make it look old and rugged. Thought about soaking it in a bucket of mud. If anyone has any better suggestions, let me know.
Nice jorb on the dolly!
Also, I totally went through this same experience last summer when I was looking for baseballs to cut up for homemade steampunk googles for our Halloween costumes. (Instructables.com) I looked at three Walmarts and 4 Goodwills and came up empty. I finally found some softballs- which were too big, but I used them anyways.
One Sports department Walmart guy was really surprised I was shopping for baseballs. He was pretty sure they just didn't sell.

Thanks guys, it's nice to hear. I really give xhonzi a lot of credit, because his willingness to be silly encouraged me to do the same.
It was really fun to see VFP get in on the act. xhonzi sent me a PM at one point that basically said, "Can you believe how entertaining VFP has gotten? Where did that come from?"
It's true. Both that I deserve the credit, and that I'm still pretty sure that someone funny hacked VFP's account and went to town with it. I keep a 2 inch thick dossier on each of you on my desk and VFP's new personallity didn't meld with his old one very well. And with the change of avatar, I knew he had to be someone's sock!
ImpFighter,
Would it be possible to include some more GOUT shots in your comparison thread? I directed a friend there, and he was confused by some of the "changes"...
I iz in ur thread, reading ur comix!
BITE YOUR TONGUE, SIR!
That forum used to be hopping. I used to spend all of my time there and then I migrated to haunting Off Topic most of the time.
What happened? Did we all get burned out? Are we in some kind of seventh year sabbatical?

I know the arc copy has been out for a while and just how rare it is.
What is the "arc copy"? Agree they forsee better sales if the book comes out in time for the holidaze. Could pay off, but again, they're making their core wait... sucks.
Advanced Reader Copy.

Someone mentioned that it has to be made to seem as if it is A or B, and then wind up being C. So is it A (clone of Luke) or B (another Dark Jedi clone)...no it's C! Anakin himself.
Yay, that was me! ;)
I've read your post, and I'm digesting it. I will give you some more detailed feedback later.
Hmm... must have been before my time.
Planet Hulk the GN (Graphic Novel) is by Greg Pak, and I'm not aware of a BN (Boring Novel) adaptation.
Print is dead! Unless it's fully illustrated.
:)
Now if they can just release Half Life 2: Episode 3 or Half Life 3 or whatever they're calling it.
I mean, I love Portal and I'm sure I'll love Portal 2... Left 4 Dead has been fun and I'm sure L4D2 is even better...
BUT WHERE IS MY HALF LIFE?!?!?!?
Watched 'Planet Hulk' yesterday. The first half was good and I thought surprisingly faithful to the books, but I was underwhelmed by the second half.
I hate to be cliche, but the Book was Better.
And now... in the past 3 minutes... it's fixed.
I'm using IE 7.0.5730 at work, I didn't compare what it's like at home on IE8. I had to reboot this morning for an unrelated issue, and I wondered if that would change my "double backing"...
Nope.
What, like Saved by the Bell?
