And I thought his comment about the ships' proximity to Jabba's was interesting... can Jabba's be seen in the painting?  I looked at the painting for a solid 30 seconds and couldn't find anything looking like a palace...

So we have Lucas saying it was Hamill, Hamill saying it wasn't and then saying it was, and Kazanjian saying it wasn't.  Whom do we believe?

I think what Kazanjian is saying about the Milliennium Falcon and X-Wing being so close to Jabba's Palace is they are relatively close, not actually right next to; in the same general vicinity where they might be spotted (since Jabba and at least Boba Fett know what the Falcon looks like).

I still don't get it.  How close to Jabba's are they?  They're on Tatooine, that's all the painting tells me.  Is that what you're saying is "too" close?  Or are you assuming they're within miles of the palace?  Back to the former, are we supposed to assume that they dropped the Falcon off a couple planets away and took a cab to Tatooine?

Thanks for posting the interview, mania.  But is it just me, or does Kazanjian not really sound like he knows of what he speaks?  He looks at the blank space in the matte painting and thinks it's unfinished?  Clearly, he must know how matte paintings work/worked?  And I thought his comment about the ships' proximity to Jabba's was interesting... can Jabba's be seen in the painting?  I looked at the painting for a solid 30 seconds and couldn't find anything looking like a palace...

Things you like/need that they've discontinued

I bought a nail gun a couple years ago, and I dragged it out to work on my shed.  The darn thing is leaking air at the gasket, which renders it useless.  I head over to the tool shop where I bought it to buy a replacement gasket ($0.20 worth of plastic, I'm sure it will cost me $15 or $20 or something) but they don't sell them.

No one sells them.

Welcome to the thread, Nudist.  I thought you might enjoy my ramble about UC2 when I finished it earlier this year: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Video-Game-Thread/post/417953/#TopicPost417953

I'd give the game a solid 8/10.  It was definitely good, but it didn't really resonate with me the way it did with other people (who might have given it an 11, were it possible).

Thanks, Frink!

I really like Living Daylights... especially the opening scenes.  It has been several years since I last saw License to Kill but I still found it to be unsatisfying to me.  I'm curious what a 3rd Dalton Bond would have looked like, but I wouldn't trade GoldenEye for anything.

The wife and I watched The Departed last night.  As I predicted, she really liked it.  It seems like we've been watching a lot of DiCaprio recently (He so dreamy!) and I have to say that this is probably his best work.  I really liked Inception, but I don't think it specificly due to DiCaprio's performance.  In The Departed, he's definitely more of a highlight.  Also: Lots of cursing.

From imdb:

237 F-words and its derivatives, 6 obscene hand gestures, 16 sexual references, 23 scatological terms, 32 anatomical terms, 5 mild obscenities, 3 derogatory terms for Italians, 3 derogatory terms for African-Americans, 1 derogatory term for Irish people, 1 derogatory term for Chinese people, 3 derogatory terms for homosexuals, 4 religious profanities, 10 religious exclamations

It's a little excessive.

Also, has anyone noticed that Scorsese's films often have really bad continuity?  Just simple stuff, like a guy leaning forward in one shot, and then he's leaning back in the other actor's coverage, and back to leaning forward in the next shot.  I first noticed it at the end of the Aviator where 2 characters are walking and talking... it cuts to a close up of them where they are stopped, and cuts back to them walking and talking and then they stop and face each other.  Back to a close up of them stopped and talking.  Then back to them walking and talking...  normally I'm not the contnuity police, but it seems to really stick out in these Scorsese films to me for some reason.

Hilarious fan-site, but could it be a fake? (I'm guessing you know which one already...)

After the dreadful and disappointing results of The Empire Strikes Back, Lucas wrote and directed each movie episode of the Star Wars prequel trilogy in order to give Star Wars fans the genius vision of master film maker Lucas that they deserve.

Wait, I thought SuperShadow wrote the prequels??!?!??

If you had your choice, would you have wanted George Lucas to stop after 1977?

Ah, I knew you'd pipe in here eventually, Anchorhead.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say that had a hint of "where's that kook from the 70s" in it.

No... it's more of an "I admire you for taking a stronger stance than I am willing to.  I see where you're coming from, but I'm too much of a coward to cut my leg off to stop the spread of cancer.  I'm also not quite sure what's it's like in that world, and I wonder if you have cupcakes there... And oxygen" kind of thing.  It's like we all hate wearing pants, but you're the only guy willing to walk around without them!

Wait, does that help?

xhonzi said:

You're the only one I could think of that would be a definite 'yes' for this thread.

Definite is a strong word (maybe). There are three scenes in Empire that I think are fantastic.

Asteroid field chase.
Falcon's approach to Cloud City.
Luke hanging below Cloud City. - By far, my favorite moment from the entire film.

I love the scene where he throws the grappling hook at the weather vane on Cloud City and misses.  ;)

Does this not work for anyone else?  I use IE8 (I know, I know) and it is not on my right-click menu.  I am forced to go to properties, look at the url, and copy that into a new browser tab.
