Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

While I agree with the perceived value bit, the comment I was trying to make was more along the lines of this: quality.  There's free crap, there's free quality stuff, there's expensive crap and there's expensive quality stuff.

Of those 4 categories, I think "free quality stuff" is the rarest kind.  So, if you're looking for quality, it tends to be stuff you have to pay for.  Because the people that are really good at creating that quality stuff are probably really good at it to the exclusion of other marketable skills.

And a man's gotta eat.

So, it's not impossible to find objectively good things for free, it's just statistically unlikely.

Classic LOL Moments in OT.com History
Time

If it pleases the court, I would like this thread to bear record of the famous "Ralph Brown Avatar Caper" wherein I, C3PX, and one or two other regular OT.com posters (005 and/or Gaffer and/or Sluggo and/or VFP maybe?) adopted a variety of Ralph Brown pictures as our avatars, in an attempt to Punk' Ric Olié, who also sported a Ralph Brown avatar.

The persecution rests.

Wanted: An O-OT vs OT:SE Poll, Change by Change
Time

I've always wanted to see a poll of "Which changes you would keep" if somehow you were selected to make your own hybrid version (maybe on some future UltraBlu Ray 2000 version, where you can roll your own Special Edition).

If I were more web savy, I'd list all of the changes in runtime order and let the innernets decide between "Original  ---  1997 --- 2004 --- Extra Crispy" and then see how unanimous the votes are.

I think the "Han/Greedo Shoot" would be most "unsupported" and the CG enhancements to the X-Wing/DS fight at the end would be most "supported".  But I bet there would be a lot of feedback that would be surprising.

And you'd have to throw out all "all 2004" or "all Original" votes since that's not the point of the exercise.  Of course we all want the original preserved, but this is about something else.

Anyone up to the task?

When have you quoted Star Wars lines in the right situation?
Time

My ungeeky boss likes to say "It's a trap" to my geeky workmate and me all of the time.  We think it's nice that he's trying so hard.  I printed out and gave him a paper Ackbar mask for Christmas.

I find the opportunity to use [Vader] Impressive.  Most impressive.  But!  You're not a Jedi, yet![/Vader] from time to time.

I have a cousin with which I rarely communicate... but I always start my letters/e-mails/facebook pokes with: "You slimy, double-crossing, no-good swindler"

And I say "Who's scruffy looking" when my wife reminds me I need a haircut.

I do!  As long as one of them is you, one of them is [CE](3?)[PR](3?)(i?)[CSX]/i and the other is me.

I'm mad at you now.

I was waiting for you to say that.  Sorry... :(

But hopefully my poor audio due to my... ahem, borrowed internet shows why it is I've avoided doing something like this except in the event that I was forced to.  But I did have fun doing it.  So, maybe, when my computer isn't on life support, and I can afford... anything, we'll do one of our own.

AND once you see Inception and I stop ignoring you.

Which I haven't done.
