Now with 100% more Inception spoilers (was: xhonzi's Guide to Not Being Ignored by xhonzi (or to get your groove back))
Time

No, I started to watch the 40 minute-ish feature (starring Regular Joe) at about 2 AM after the movie was over the day after Christmas.  Everyone else wanted to go to bed, so I did too.  I've been wanting to finish it... We only have the one BD player in the home theatre and I usually like to watch those kind of features in a more casual setting.  I wonder if it's on the DVD as well?

I actually read that comic (because I read comics) when the movie came out.  I thought the motion comic was a little boring.  Was there another one that was "hidden"?  I didn't think the one comic (The Cobol Job?) was hidden.

that's fine.   I don't think you did say anything offensive or in anger.    I wish I could be more like you.

Come on, you two.  Cuddle and make nice.  It's free.

Rejected Prequel Titles

I thought the title for Episode I was really cool, "The Phantom Menace." I don't know why people don't like it? It described the movie perfectly. But then again episode 2 and 3 could have applied that title too since they all were a mystery in plot. I hated "Attack of the Clones," and "Revenge of the Sith" is okay, but I would have preferred "Rise of the Empire" and I would have preferred the movie to revolve around more of a convincing story on how the Empire rose instead of a mess of stuff wasted.

Rise of the Empire?  That's pretty good.  I wish more movie titles had the word "Rise" in them.  It's sooooo underused.  I wonder why?

And Phantom Menace sounded like the episode of Scooby Doo starring Dennis and Mr. Wilson.

My High School Experience Sucked

I beg your pardon? The public school system here is infamously disorganized, at least in Los Angeles. LAUSD is losing its budget, its rising star progressive teachers are being lost (to teachers who could never teach anyway, but remain due to tenure), and schools that are considered above-average are either charters or private. Mind you, LA is too big to have a single organized public school system; attention-whore-for-a-mayor Villaraigosa originally claimed in his campaign promises he would split LAUSD up into tinier districts, which it desperately needs - but he did not.

But look at how well you used "its" when most public school educated types would have mistakenly used "it's"!  They must be doing something write wright right.

Another post that will garner me little sympathy:

I've just seen it two times, but I get the impression that I will enjoy it best when not seen too frequently.  I got the BD for Christmas and wanted to watch it with my parents, assuming they wouldn't watch it unless I watched it with them.  BUT! At the same time, I had heard that the D-Box coding for it was amazing.  So I had to choose between watching it with my folks or watching it in D-Box, since I wouldn't want to do both in a short period of time.

I figure I get to watch it at home sometime in April.

(I still really enjoyed it the second time.  I'm sure not as much as the first because it's one of those movies that there's really nothing like your first time... I'm not sure what caused [CE](3?)[PR](3?)(i?)[CSX]/i to flip on it like he did.  I'm sure if I saw it twice in one weekend it might be easier to feel that way, but I think it was about 6 months between his viewings.)

I know this post will garner me very little sympathy... but here-a-goes!

I was stuck on 39,999 nerd points for a couple of weeks!  My wife was pretty amazed I somehow froze it right there.  The last achievement I got I had assumed would push me over 40k, so imagine my chagrin to see it sitting pretty at 39,999.  :(

But I snagged a few easy ones on Yourshape Fitness today, so it's all right now. :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

And, yeah... Jesus's birthday is (most likely) not December 25th.  Existing pagan festivals were adapted to become the majority of what we know as modern Christmas.  I was under the impression everyone knew that.  So, again, what's the problem?

I recenetly read how one of Dicken's purposes in writing A Christmas Carol was to de-religiousize Christmas and make it more of a secular holiday where people just spend time together as family and celebrate traditions.

Apparently he was quite successful.

And as a seriously Christian, I am well aware that Christ's birth was not in the Winter, let alone on 25 Dec (since there wasn't such a thing at the time anyhow).  However, it doesn't bother me to celebrate Christ's birth that day or to use symbols lifted from the pagans to do it.

Valentine's Day is not about buying love, its about show love.   One way you show love is buying gifts.    Just about every holiday is commercialized, especially Christmas.    Should we hate every holiday?

I smell a red herring*... while Bingo's sense of humor doesn't usually agree with (I can't really speak for his opinions), jumping to a large claim such as that is never a strong argumentative technique.

*I may be misusing the term "red herring", but it's the closest I can remember to a technical term for using extremities

 bkev,

I was really confused by your post and the usage of the term 'red herring'.  Until I dismissed the term and read the rest of your post and understood it completely.

It would seem that your usage of the term 'red herring' was merely a... erm...  a, uh... forgive me- red herring.

If this was your intention, may I be the first to commend you on a term well exemplified.
