Info Wanted & Help: looking for... The lost footage of 2001
Time
Jan Harlan was interviewed for finnish movie magazine and he said that a new documentary was being prepared by him for a new dvd box set due in future (a date was not specified). during the interview he also hinted that there is reel after reel of footage still in the kubrick estate warehouse and that the director had EVERYTHING saved. now, this doesn´t necesseraly mean that there is still a original cut of 2001 in that collection.

Taschen published a great book this year called The Stanley Kubrick Archives and the first printing had a 12 frame strip of the 70mm film from the directors own copy along with a rare unpublished interview on cd. if that was the ONLY copy that kubrick had there could it have been the original version? who knows but there might be a remote - if not impossible - chance that there are few cells on that book that show cut images. i know, i know, it is impossible!!! but i had to check my copy anyways... it has 12 frames of dave in the pod showing him downwards the knobs and readouts.

my bet is that the cut scenes are lost. but, more stills - lots of stills - are there waiting to be published. newsgroup dissgussions had a guy few years ago that had seen the original version and i might have that transcript somewhere on cd-rom. he remembered those scenes vividly although he saw it once. there are number of books of kubrick´s 2001 out there and some of them have these cut scenes described in detail. you might want to check those out (it´s good to read a book instead of staring a monitor all day long - as i do).

but please don´t ask me to find that cd-rom right now. i have over 3000 cds and dvds and those are not as well cataloqued as one might have hoped... sorry. i do remember a website that also had the transcript, but i have been unable to re-find it to this day.

So you can now have your discs printed full surface hub to hub! The post includes CMYK TIF and RGB JPG versions of all 3 films' discs. Enjoy!

thank you!

segaflip is on break but maybe someone else can clear this one out for me.

segaflip posted Editdroid Ep4, Ep5 and Ep6 (all with content and jacket_p folders) to a.b.sw, starting from 10/5/2005 ending 10/7/2005 . are these the same ones that are on myspleen plus the rar packs (containing the art, script and jacket_p stuff)? or better yet are the ones offered on myspleen currently the "ones" to download (have them on hdd with the rar packs)? ...maybe i should ask that on another thread...

sega posted a iso file and it would save me lots of time if i wouldn´t have to download these again.

you are the master! ...but one request. could you make those disc labels without the center hole? and also the picture on the disc label could be square instead of round. i´m having hard time with printing the label on a verbatim wide printable media. there is always a thin white stripe somewhere on the center rim. printer in use is canon ip4000 and i know that it doesn´t print to 119mm - verbatim media has the printing area from 119mm to 21mm. so there is always a white line on the outer rim, but the center bugs me. not a biggy but....

info about the media if someone is interested in can be found here.

....well i have to agree with you for not posting to a.b.starwars but not for those reasons. i am glad that i use giganews as my service provider cause the pace segaflip was posting those first few ot dvds... let me just say that i am just in the middle of september with the downloads. not everyone has +10Mb adsl+ what-ever connections nor the time to keep one of the most popular newsgroups updated. those fan edit dvds are not the only stuff that´s good in the newsgroups you know a.b.dvd is a massive group and getting latest headers with agent is a drag. and no i´m not switching to a different prog just for that. i have filters and shit for agent and it works just fine for my needs.

the main question was just to ask that the only newsgroup it was posted to was not a.b.dvd. maybe there is another newsgroup more "friendly" to fan edit than a.b.dvd...?

Is there an anamorphic transfer at all?

Eyes Wide Shut was shot in 4:3. No need for an anamorphic transfer

Yes there is. It wasn't projected at 4x3. Rumor has it that WB is putting out a proper widescreen version of the uncut print soon.

Not confirming the rumor of anamorphic... but Episodi, a movie magazine here in Finland interviewed Jan Harlan over the phone. Ans he is making a new documentary for the NEW warner box set due next year (that being 2006). We are not talking about the "A Life in Pictures" doc, but a completely new doc. So there is a new box set but details are yet very very scetchy...

i have this from newsgroup without the cover or disc label. you seem to have label for this title? is there a place to download it? and what about a cover?

i always rant about the cover and the label, but in my opinion this whole preservation and edit thing is nowdays up to a level that i would like to have a decent dvd copy on my shelf with a maker made (or approved) cover and label.

i´m not a techno nerd - no offence - to begin with but... when watching this i have to say that there were moments when i didn´t notice the change from hs material to bootleg cam. call me blind but fantastic job! thanks ocpmovie!

[OFF TOPIC]
people you have to be proud of your releases, cause i will be for you if nothing more. make covers! make labels! ... or if you haven´t got time or find making them unneccesary please make a note of it in the nfo file. friends always ask me for more pif titles and the look on their faces when they get a blank dvd on an empty dvd shell...

STAR WARS: The Torrents thread
Time
http://www.p2ptv.co.uk/878.html Has ed2k files for the complete "History - Joseph Campbell & the Power of Myth" series: Part 1: The Hero's Journey, 02 - The Message of the Myth, 03 - The First Storytellers, 04 - Sacrifice and Bliss, 05 - Love and the Goddess, 06 - Masks of Eternity, xx - Interview with George Lucas.

Also does anyone know where the ripper "xvid-fitty" posts their captures? The name seems to pop up often capturing SW tv programs in some of the major torrent search sites. (for instance: Feel the Force, 60 Minutes, VH1s When SW Ruled)

maybe this group - MVGroup. they have the series in xvid but the ripper is Xibalban... and it does not include lucas interview... but a good source of docs anyways...

i´m little confused...

ADigitalMan´s ep1 fixed and ep2 - have these versions been available on myspleen? There was some talk on the "official" ADigitalMan thread but...
Farsight OT + extras - have these versions been available on myspleen?

Thanks.

btw - are there any "officially accepted" covers and labels for the ADigitalMan´s set and for the Farsight Extras?
