Help: looking for... 'From Beyond' - available on laserdisc or preservation project?
Time

I ask this here because you guys are knowledgeable about DVD’s.

Has anyone seen the classic b-movie horror, FROM BEYOND?

It has Jeffery Combs from re-animator.

It is not out on dvd. Not sure if or when it will be on dvd.

Did it ever come out on LD?

If it is, anyone what to do a transfer?

Hey there everyone!!!

I forgot about this thread totally!!!

After reading all your replies, I have to say that I'm reconsidering the laser printer I was planning on buying and I'm intrigued by the acrylic idea as well.
I started looking at the Epson R300 and I like it more and more, especially after reading opinions like MeBeJedi's and Rikter's, whose opinions I consider gold on these boards.

Just a few quick questions....

I have heard that inkjet printers tend to dry up and don't print well. I had a canon that did this and was why I switched to a black and white laser printer. Is there a problem with the inkjets drying up or not printing properly after not using them for a while?

Also, do inkjet printings look better depending on the paper you use? Like if you use the super nice glossy paper as opposed to plain white legal?

I got rid of my consumer epsons because of all the ink clogs and the price of inks. Epsons consumer models have real problems. I now have a canon ip3000 and an ip5000. I love them. The ink is inexpensive and they just do not have the problems that the epsons do.

Check out my post on the first page about how to adapt the canons. The tray is hard to get and the front rollers are nearly impossible. FYI, I just got a shipment of 6 set of rollers from thailand for the pixma printers. It took me 3 months for them to arrive. (If you live outside of the americas, the canon printers are enabled from the factory for cd printing)

I like the glossy photo paper from costco. Works great for covers. 120 sheets for $19.

DVD clamshells...where to get them?
Time
Now that I have all of these fan edits and archival editions, I need a place to store them.

Where do I get good quality clamshell cases? For cheap!

I want single cases (these I can find anywhere) and double disc cases (harder to find).

The double disc cases need to be the type that are the same width as the singles. Otherwise I will run into cover size issues with my printer.

thanks.

I wanted to second Movealong's suggestion with some added info:

Krylon #1305 works great.

Use an old dvd case as a mount for your dvd to be sprayed..

Personally I like the one from blockbuster. The center circle is longer and it has another circle that basically seals the edges of the dvd disk, protecting the bottom from the spray. It also has indentations so you can remove the disc without touching the top.

Also use one of the foam spacers from a hunderd count spindle to cover the center hub (depending on the size)(use as needed)

Spray 10 to 12 inches away from the disc and start and finish each pass outside of the disk about 5 inches or more.

Let stand for about an hour before placing it in a dvd case. Ready to use in 24 hours.

Wear a mask! That stuff is toxic.

***Hi-Res Star Wars Image Submission Thread***
Time
***Edited to correspond to new submission idea, now lead by klokwerk***

Here are the Submission Rules:
Anybody who has hi-res material can post here. You can post a thumbnail to show which image/s you have, then supply the image's dimensions, filetype and filesize. I'll check against my collection of material to see if I have the image or not, or whether you have higher quality. Then via email/free webspace you can get the image/s to me.* I will then incorporate them into the growing collection I have, and burn them to disc for Rikter, then send that disc off. Not sure of a cut-off date yet, but as Rikter's taking a short vacation, we'll collect as much as possible now.

*The reason I'm not letting people upload and insert images into this thread is that I do already have a large number of images, and I don't want the dial-up users to luck out. Please follow the instructions from my first post. I hope to see some rare hi-res art surface in this thread.

The Cowclops Transfers (a.k.a. the PCM audio DVD's, Row47 set) Info and Feedback Thread (Released)

I thought so but I could not remember who did it.

Now if we can get someone to take the best of v1 and v2 and put them together. We could have a disk that most would agree was is good if not great.

Rowman, are you listening?

I would also like to get my hands on those row47 discs! How would I go about getting those?

Thanks. I forgot that you could post comment under the releases. No wonder I could not find it.

***Edit****

Now that I have seen the review I have some questions:

I have the v1 but my main complaint is the black pause during the LD flip.

Didn't someone fix that and re-release it?

If the blacks are so bad in V2 but the menu is so good. Could someone take the video (fixed) from v1 and put it together with the cool motion menus from v2, thus making the best set until X0 is finished?

Ok, it is 9:00 west coast time on monday and still no sign of the cowclops v2.

I assumed that all the seeders were east coasters and I would wake up and there it would be.

This is my christmas.

But seriously, do we have time frame for the release today? I just need to know so I can make sure to be home and ready.

Thanks for all the hard work guys.
