" Raul,

I had to lock your thread. Not because I don't believe you or because I think you're a troll or something (which I certainly don't or you would already be banned from the site). I had to lock it because of the potential of releasing too much information about your source.

Now before you start thinking that I'm somehow in cohorts with Lucasfilm, just know that I've been around a lot of this spoiler and insider stuff for a number of years. A person gets hold of some information and they want to share it with everyone while trying to stay anonymous on the internet. I feel what you are doing could be a great service to the fans, but at the same time I feel that by you naming names you run the risk of getting someone fired. And don't think that can't happen because it certainly has happened a number of times over the last few years. A fan site posts some pictures or information about a deleted scene on the new DVDs, Lucasfilm finds out about it and traces the leaked info to one or two potential people in their office, then that person gets fired.

I understand you are the middleman here, but please understand the whole picture. I am going to discuss this further with Jay, the administrator here. But for the time being, please try not to incriminate your source. I know certain people like to harass you and try to bully you to give up more info. It's best to shrug off those people and ignore them instead of giving away information that may be detrimental to someone's job.

If you do in fact get the screenshots to share, we would like to know about it first before you post them somewhere. Allow me to re-open your thread or start a new one for that.

Thanks for your understanding,

Zion "

Which is what I love about that set. No attempt to digitally alter anything. Wires are all there. Original miniatures are still used. "To Be Continued..." taken out. Trailer for Part III in there. There is nothing about that set that isn't perfect! And there is nothing about that set that reeks of revisionist history. Those are the movies. The end. And when Universal misframed them, they didn't claim it was a deliberate creative decision. They did a free recall and replacement. It might have been a bit expensive and troublesome for them, but it sure made me respect them a lot more than I respect Lucas and Fox.

MISFRAMED THEM??? What does that mean? I got the set shortly after its release, and I want to know if anything might be worng with them. Someone please explain it so I can check.

A quick google and I found this

But anyway, my main point is that anamorphic/ non-anamorphic will NEVER be a deciding factor to me. If I had to choose from the get go, I'd probably buy anamorphic. If a newer release of any movie was released and the ONLY difference was that is was anamorphic while the previous release was simply letterboxed widescreen or whatever, I would NOT upgrade. If the special features were better, I probably would. Anamorphic/ non-anamorpic, to me= the same thing. I watch anamorpic movies on my widescreen TV with the DVD player set to 4x3 letterbox. I like the top and bottom black bars. I watch all movies in full mode w/o side bars and that makes me very happy. I also like seeing subtitles in the black not touching the movie. That's just what I like. I never said anamorphic was bad (well kinda as a joke), just that it never will matter for me. Even if my precious prequels and SEs were non-anamorphic, as long as they were widescreen, it doesnt matter to me.

Info Wanted: Anyone Planning on making Anamorphic versions using 2006 OUT DVDs?
Time
Thanks for the reply...yes thank you for the script, I should be able to find my way now.

One question, Would there be a benifit to different noise-profile for different sceens? I think I read that
the amount of grain varies from sceen to sceen. If I made different noise-profiles and de-noised per sceen rather than the
whole movie at once, would that be worth the extra effort?

So then, PAL or NTSC GOUT for best quality?
Time
I understand Vigo's frustration. Boris is a huge pain in the ass. From day one he has spewed pseudo facts and pseudo reasoning about all things "technical",
has been corrected and shown that he is in error but continues to spout "facts" left and right.
Remember "Cliff" the mailman from the sitcom "Cheers"? Boris is his twin brother.

Here's an example of the highly detailed knowledge of Boris(from this thread):

Absolutely not! The picture may actually be greater quality, because they've stretched it (professionally) all the way to the sides of the display, whereas they haven't with the NTSC. Therefore, the thin black borders will distort the picture at the very edges right and left. Also the audio isn't a problem... technically they don't "speed it up" anymore anyway, what they do is they "stretch it" in a way that keeps the pitch consistent (rather then speeding it up, which raises the pitch slightly). Also, you get thicker scan-lines on NTSC which may bother some people, and the NTSC pulldown - which is far worse the speeding the movie up 1 frame per second.

When I read ramblings like this, it's clear someone is trying hard to sound more knowledgeable than they are. Don't misunderstand; it's also entertaining....to a point....
