Info & Info Wanted: GOUT film grain

Hmmm.....I didn't re-size this one, yet it's the same size as the others (?) I just started using ImageShack (photobucket doesn't work w/my computer anymore). Does ImageShack automatically scale images down?

That looks awful, where's all the grain? Seriously, it sure looks like the grain and noise in those "other" 70mm scans isn't truly representative of what the original film stock should look like.....to me anyway.

It's just a testament to the impact of your work, Adywan. I'm looking forward to re-experiencing the films, and truly enjoying (i.e. not being distracted by the inconsistencies) what I'm seeing on the screen for the first time in a long while.

Take care,

These are my thoughts exactly......

You and "nohandluke" have a way with words. I fumble around, butchering the English language....

And you just caught me on a bad morning that's all. Sorry about the 'ass' comment. Was no need!

Same here m8. Maybe I came off a little strong but I really hope that Ady decides to go the DL route, so I guess when I defend that so hard it seems like I could care less about anybody elses predicament.....not so....I'm just really excited to see SWR, that's all.

This is all mute anyway, I'm sure the edit will be available without having to PIF for those who can't or don't want to......

yes, but what your point? The rest of us suffer because of the few who have outdated equipment? If you want to PIF a DVD-9 buy a DL burner simple as that. DL burners are dirt cheap now so there really is no valid reason not to PIF a DVD-9 if that is what you want to do.

For those who can't I'm sure there will be ample ways to acquire the edit, there always are.

What about those who don't have the moneys to buy a DL burner, and then all the disc's to PIF. Please don't be an ass and presume that everybody can just go out and buy the equipment necessary. Some of us here have a family and kids to feed. And a missus that would go spare if her other half splashed on on all this stuff just to watch a film 'you've already got'

How about you refrain from calling people names? What, are we ten years old or something?

Why all the hostillity towards PIFing? You seem to think thats the only way to see ady's work? Ever hear of torrents or a certain newsgroup? You need to take your meds and calm down.

I too have a wife and kids but also have a $20 burner and $40.00 worth of discs.... And just how much were the 2004 SW DVDs? or maybe the 2006 DVDs with the GOUT? So your bitching about potentially spending less money on Ady's edit ( which is far superior than anything Lucas put out) than on the retail DVDs....whatever, to each his own but leave your "ass" calling out of it.

i haven't got a logo but i have been thinking about designing one but i've been a bit too busy.
Originally posted by: GhostAlpha26I wasnt sure what you meant here, is the movie going to be on 2 disks?

No the movie will be on the first disc and the special features on the second. But this is only if i decide not to go down the DVD-9 route.

I hope you decide on the DVD-9.....the reason for me is purely self centered.....my family watch our movies on a 51" Hitachi and soon will be upgrading to a 61" Samsung, so any little differences in bit rate really are amplified while watching the movie on a big screen TV, it would be such a shame to watch your awesome edit only to see artifacts because of a low bit rate......anybody who watches DVDs on tube TVs isn't going to notice much difference.....IMO only.

What do you think Ady? I've noticed that the fan edits on Fanedited.org sometimes are offered in both sizes...just a thought...

Ignore the negative naysayers Ady, your work is outstanding. You should be doing it for a living.

I also would be willing to PIF both the PAL and NTSC editions.....I live in the States so the NTSC is what I need but I can always play the PAL on the puter....

FYI, I have a new Epson Stylus Photo RX595 All in One to print on Verbatim DataLifePlus Inkjet Printable DVD+R DL DVDs.....

Adywan,

Just had the opportunity to check out the transcript and the new clip. Looks like it was a quality session. Sorry I missed it, but hopefully I can catch the next one.

The new clip is great. I love seeing Yavin in the background, but my favorite part was that little formation of TIE fighters zipping around in the background. It has a great continuity with Vader's line about several fighters breaking off from the main group.

There was one little thing that stuck out to me in the clip. In the shot below, the far off ships seem to recede too slowly, considering that they're going in the opposite direction. But maybe it's just me.

Keep up the great work. And get some sleep, man!

Not to disagree to disagree but I looked at that and to me it looks and feels fine.....besides I thought Adywan said he was done tweaking the various video fx shots and was in post production at this point anyway so......

and BTW I hate waiting ......

My kids, wife and I have two weeks of vacation time that falls between Christmas and New Years.....LOL If I am blessed to have this in my possession by then my kids will be complaining and moaning.....you see they thought they would get to play video games for two weeks....little did they know they would be watching Star Wars Revisited for two weeks instead......LMAO. I can hear them now, "Dad can we please watching something else? We've seen SWR ten times already."

Adywan thank you for all your hard work.

Fanedits that are watched privately in your own home....on a big screen in some theatre somewhere? NO WAY. Especially a top quality fan edit like Adywan's....where it looks BETTER than the LFl effort.....

I bet LFL would still cry even if it was free.....probably complain that the showing cost them potential customers or some moronic thing......
