This is B*llshit, there isn't a faster way to get your data then through usenet!

Judging from the reactions of some Usenet folks here and elsewhere, if I didn't know better I would assume it must be an Apple technology. :-)

All negative1 said was that scenarios exist wherein it is possible to get a file through a torrent faster than through Usenet. I believe he expressed that point fairly clearly: "...getting huge DVD files is ENTIRELY possible given enough seeders/peers, and a good connection" (my emphasis).

Ron Moses

Sorry but negative1 is still wrong. Downloading a torrent, no matter which software you use, no matter the amount of seeders, you will still have to contend with overhead. Torrents will never max out your line speed. Usenet does. Period.

I don't think there's a lack of trust in the OT populace over the project, I think that different fans have different opinions on what they would or would not like done with the film and sometimes these opinions can result in...forceful...exchanges. I'm on the side that just wants everything cleaned up, with a few minor enhancements here and there. The there are those who would rather have a restoration of the film only. Finally, there are those out there who want to add in new scenes and give the film a new look.

It's all about taste and no matter what you do, you can't please everyone. If Ady wanted to go about his project on his own, he wouldn't post here and would release it when he was done. However, I believe he realizes that there are differing views out there and he posts here for suggestions/critiques. In the end, the final result will be all the better for it.

All true. Well said.

I just got done watching this film again, (this time for free) and I guess if I had to sum up my biggest gripe is that this movie was so hum drum boring....at least it was for me. Starting with the first Indiana Jones, which was a fun exciting roller coaster ride filled with suspense and danger, the films one by one since then have dwindled in there pace and excitement/suspense. I know that some of that can't be helped but I tell you I almost fell asleep watching this movie......

Savage, I absolutely agree with you. In fact sometimes I read this thread and shake my head in disbelief with the apparent lack of trust or faith in Adywan that you guys have.... DON"T WORRY. After watching Adywan's SWR there should be no doubt in anybody's mind that ESBR will be just as spectacular.....it's going to brilliant, you'll see.

Wookie Groomer's 1080p Star Wars Saga project (Released)

They're not available anywhere right now. On a.b.sw, all they have is RotJ (not enough to warrant the cover charge). Wookie Groomer has what is easily the best set, better than any of the supposedly 1080p transfers currently available. That's why I was asking for a torrent of all six. It would be a gigantic load, but I would seed it for as long as I could (I'd still have upwards of 20GB left on my HD, and I doubt I'd need more than that).

The Wookie Groomer set is on A.B.SW.

It proves I'm dumber than George in film school. A few more questions!

Ok, Does it matter what type of Duel layer disk you use?

Functionally no, but there are better brands out there. Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden are supposed to be the best. It also depends on your drive, the particular software you use and what speed you burn the disc at. Lotta trial and error.

Where is THE complete DVD 9 Torrent and what website?

I personally don't do torrents, I've been working on getting the RapidShare version over at fanedit.org.

I don't think Taiyo Yuden makes a dual layer DVD.....

I'm sorry but for those of you who have seen it already, your reports don't seem all that great....it just seems like a ho hum movie....nothing really there to grab my attention or imagination to motivate me to get up and go see the thing.....I was hoping you guys would come back with shinning reviews and say, "don't even think get off your ass and go see the thing", but that doesn't seem to be the case.....yawn.

I've been doing some experiments with folding origami boxsets. I have a ream of 17 x 11 inch paper which is perfect, and I've worked out how to fold it, but I'm not entirely sure how to reproduce it in instructions. Maybe a video would suffice. I also need to experiment and see how well it glues together.

Finally, I'll need to create some appropriate diagrams so that people wishing to design custom boxsets know which areas are printable.

Unfortunately, I don't know when I'll be able to create the video because my camera's run out of power and I can't find the charger. :/

Ah...ok?

There is something you can do, Sevb32 if you are not entirely satisfied...You OWN fanedit. This is still an alternative to the original films, not a definitive version.

I don't mean to sound like a dick but some people seem to be getting a little too excited in my mind. We're in a forum, not a debate.

Damn straight!

Adywan,

Don't forget that there is a genaration gap that sometimes divides us here. I'm not saying that every 20 something and younger love the over sat colors, or that all 30, 40 and up "old" SW fans remember and prefer the GOUT colors....far from it. But I would bet that as a general rule that's probably close.

Hi Ady -

Thanks for the help - yes, someone quoted my message but removed the quote section breaks. I followed your initial recommendations and Imgburn reacted as expected. At the end, though, I still ended up with a coaster. At this point I've got to assume there's something wrong with my media or my drive. *sigh*

Another general question for the populace - has anyone burned this successfully with a program other than Imgburn? If I make another attempt I'd like to do so with a different program, on the theory that Imgburn has a problem with my drive or discs. Is there something about using Imgburn specifically that's necessary to get this to work, or do you just have to make sure that whatever you use doesn't change the layer break?

By the way - happy birthday Ady!
burn at minimal speed. For instance, I use the 2.4-6X Verbatim's....I burn @ 2.4X.

Also when you say "coaster" what does that mean? Does your computer recognize the disc at all while its in the drive? If not sounds like its not finalizing or something. What media are you using?

From what I'm understanding from the posts prior to this, imgburn is what's having issues with burning this iso. Following Ady's fix may repair the .iso to one compatible with imgburn.

No. That's not the problem. The layer break was at the wrong point. The iso was in efect corrupt. It wouldn't matter what program you used....

Adywan's fix patches the iso. Burn with imgburn like the nfo says to do.

I'm a idiot. As you can see I just wasn't "selecting" the layer break...all I saw was that the "OK' was greyed out and the only button not greyed out was the "revert to VOBU" button.....
My mistake Ady. Thanks for your infamous patience once again....:)

So your fix did work. Sorry about the mix up.

I just put in my original Aywan DVD-9 ( without the fixes) that I burnt. I don't remember the exact errors imgburn gave, it did complain about something but I just ignored it and burnt anyway. It plays in both my computer's DVD drive and my old Sony DVD player. One peculiar thing with it however. When I just scan through the DVD chapter by chapter with the "next" button with my Sony DVD player's remote, when it gets to the end of the credits and I hit "next" again it took me straight to the Jar Jar death scene...then hitting "menu" took me the "deleted and Extended Scenes" menu....if that helps any.....

Jar Jar dies ?!?!? Thanks for the SPOILER warning. LOL

Its not a spoiler.
