Adywan the scene when R2 is outside of Yoda's in the rain on looks up in the window and whistles and toots it is a recycled wistle from the scene in episode IV when R2 refuses to show LuKe the hologram and Luke leaves the grage, when R2 is saying "do you think he likes me" I suppos that is what R2 saying, and then C3PO says "and no and I dont like you either". It's a small thing but it always stuck out as being the same response from R2. What do you think

R2 is a DROID. LOL So you're saying that all beeps and whistles that R2 utters have to be unique? Poor R2 that's a lot of pressure....

I cant help it, because my trash cans are painted like R2 and R4 and I have R2's name tattooed on the bach of my neck.

I am no particular fan of R2, but it seems like when they reused R2's sounds in the saga, they tended to use ones that 3PO gives a very clear translation of. I'm not saying it should be fixed, but it bugs me too. Like when R2 is "yelling" when Yoda is lifting the X-Wing. It sounds like he's getting shot by Jawas and is about to pass out!

LOL I just think its a funny thing to bug you , that's all....everytime you turn on your computer it makes the same sounds, or your email alert, same sound....LOL....

I don't know I just always understood that R2 is a maintenance droid with limited beeps and whistles....C3PO on the other hand is a human/ cyborg relations droid and as a consequence, has a much more sophisticated vocab....

I am currently downloading the DVD-9 version at the moment, and I have a couple of questions:

1. I have just finished downloading the 38th part, whose size is 95,371 KB, while files 1 through 37 have a size of 102,400 KB. Is the smaller size of part 38 normal?

2. I'm trying to download part 39, but Rapidshare says:

"Your IP address is already downloading a file. Please wait until the download is completed."

I'm not downloading any other files while downloading part 39 of the movie. What's going on?

That's crapshare for ya.....just cancel your current download, clear your cache and retry the download. Easy-pessy

But if we put the TIEs from ANHR and the TIEs from ESBR side by side, the ESBR one is going to look more blue, right (and same if we put an ESBR TIE in front of a Star Destroyer hull or other gray surface)?

No LESS blue than this...?

It's appearing that shade of blue because of the flash overexposed it.

Btw, I was thinking... I hope you don't add any lense flares to this release (I hate 'em anyway, they just draw attention to the fact that this is a movie... they only make sense realistically if it's in a scene where the character is looking through glass or something), but if you do, what do you think about the suggestions people made about the proper anamorphic lense (the oval, rather than round effect)?

Adywan, did you ever give any thought to fixing the cockpit windows on the TIEs? I'm sure you've noticed that the internal and external views of the window frame don't match...

yeh i noticed that but without clean background plates to work with i couldn't do anything about it.

You couldn't have rotated the outer window to line up with the inner?

Here's a few fixes for consideration:

See, I always liked the arrangement of the Star Destroyers in this shot. Firstly, its more visually pleasing than a uniformed group. Also it serves as subtext to the situation constantly on display in ESB- the empire is almost at odds with itself! They all keep making mistakes, pissing off Vader left and right. Of course it makes sense they would all have their own direction in which their ship is going.

I agree with Brimley.....ships don't always travel in uniform formations.....

Here's how I got mine to work
(I didn't try to apply any fixes or extract anything... I had tried the whole complicated process for the plainfiles torrent before, but I just ended up with a major hiccup at the layer break and a freeze):

-Downloaded the ISO torrent

-Used Nero Image Recorder to convert to NRG format

-Burned with Nero5 to Memorex DVD+R DL (that I bought online)

It's interesting though. The first copy I burned played perfectly on my win2k pc (PowerDVD5), and when I tested it on a few players at my library most of them weren't even recognized (JVC and Toshiba, iirc). They'd say "bad disc" or "wrong disc" after trying to read it for awhile. One of the players was region free and it still couldn't read the media. However the disc played perfectly on a region free Pioneer player (that was also incidentally hooked up to a laserdisc player). I also tested it on an XP machine with one of those crappy bare bones versions of PowerDVD and it played fine. No pauses at the layer break for the ones that worked.

Now I burned a second copy, using the same media, same image, and it hiccups badly at the layer break, for about 10 seconds and then freezes. You have to manually navigate past or skip the scene to move on. Really weird. And there were no errors when it converted and when it burned.

I have some friends I want to show this to, but unfortunately they have cheap players, so it might not work. I know in the past I've burned movies to show them and sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, even though I always use the same media. My sister has a laptop that sometimes isn't able to read commercial DVDs, even though she has the same PowerDVD software. I don't get it.

Is Dual Layer media just harder for players to recognize than DVD5's?

PS: The first "plainfiles" DVD9 I burned I did at 2.4x speed as someone recommended. Didn't make any difference. The others I burned (the one that was perfect and the one that wasn't) I burned at "max" speed.

Dude,

Almost everything about your post is wrong.

Bad media.

"Coverting" to NRG image

Burning at "max" speed

and you think this made your copy "work"?

I've just had a look at your clips GoodMusician and it's i can now see why they didn't use the original score. it was definitely for a different edit of the opening. the music where the probe droid emerges does sound more like its for the the taun taun running than for the probe droid so maybe that wasn't revealed until after Luke was attacked. Also i think there may have been an extra shot of the probe flying through space. I've done a rough mock-up of the scene but slowed down some shots to fit the cues so they look odd. it would be so great if we could find some documentation of what the original edit was like.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LLCTKMOU

I do have to say though that i actually now prefer the fanfare at the end that what was originally intended. I'm probably going to keep that in and change the one at the end of the Vader meditation scene.

I'm sorry, but I don't get it..... Please reconsider before dumping the original opening music...this didn't sound like ESB AT ALL to me...

Sorry Ady....

Hey, Ady. Thank you big time for putting so much time, effort, and skill into this project. I am NOT a fan of the Episode 4 Special Edition, but your edit will be the one I watch when I want a beautiful, widescreen, professional-quality version of the film.

I haven't been this excited about Star Wars in a long time! Actually made me think about putting a Star Wars poster on my wall again. Anyone game to create a 27"x40" Revisited poster in a vintage 70's style?

Anyway, just a question on DVD-navigatability: when accessing scenes via the chapter menus, the English subtitle option automatically shows up with the movie. Is there a fix I missed?

I'm using the ISO version I downloaded from Usenet burned to Memorex DVD+R DL disc with DVD Decrypter.

Thanks again!

I get that with PowerDVD on my computer but my home theater DVD player is fine.

You know all you guys that are so detailed with small and sometimes large problems you want fixed amaze me...more power to ya. I'm just happy to see snippets of ESB that have the natural colors once again....I'm also thrilled to see the STARS.

Back thirty years ago, we didn't have the Hubble. You couldn't just turn on your computer and Google outer space and see beautiful shots of galaxies and planets...the stars fields in the Star Wars movies was one of the things I enjoyed most....what a trip it was going to the theater and watching the Falcon fighting Ties amongst all those stars....

Thank you Adywan for your all hard work...I look forward to watching ESB with a natural looking Yoda and the blackness of space that is filled with stars.....very cool.

As I say there doesn't seem to anything wrong with the ISO. Can I can't seem to burn the damn thing! Nero is giving me trouble.

You need to be specific and tell us exactly, step by step what you are doing....maybe then you'll get the help you need.

A few things...

1. Kill any docked programs such as Anydvd....

2. What model of burner are you using?

3. What media are you using?

I just finished downloading The DVD9 from Demonoid for the third time. Just to recap, the first two times I downloaded it with Azureus, did hash check, etc. It came up as clean but it didn't work. This time I downloaded it with Bittornado. I have checked the files and...... drumroll.... it looks like it works! So somehow the crurruption was caused by Azureus the first two time. I haven't burned it yet but I don't excpect any problems. I want to thank everyone, including Adywan, who were very helpful in dealing with this problem. Cheers guys!

Burn with Nero, burn at the slowest speed your media will allow.

I was in the process of moving when all this stuff with the DL went down. I had just finished downloading the original demonoid torrent. I have applied the fix, had the whole 'extra files' situation, burned the disc with good quality media and burner, and it doesn't work.

Basically, it freezes at the 44 minute mark (Mos Eisley entrance). I can skip past the freeze up using VLC on my modded Xbox, but it basically goes all to shit.

I have a feeling the torrent is just messed up, so I might have to try downloading the new ISO.

Thanks to everyone on this forum, though, for trying so hard to get everybody up to speed. It would be easy to sling mud, but people are being really civil and helpful for the most part.

Well ya, a few pages back this was discussed in length....the first torrent was not right, it wasn't even the ISO, so it was abandoned. The ISO that is torrented now though is fine....I verified it today, along with others who downloaded it....

Of course Adywan did not release his ISO via a torrent....if you want to be sure the next time you download something always get the original release and download via however the author chose to release it.
