When we were working on our version and I was cleaning individual frames, I remember reading that the orange marks were the glue used to hold the film splices together, since most of them were at the scene breaks.
Not just missing frames, but extra audio. I don't recall which set it was, but the destruction of Alderaan was at the end of a disc flip. The scene went black, but the audio of the explosion tapered off for a second or two after the screen went black. I don't recall specifics, because that was many years ago, but I found it very interesting. It might have been the Def. Col.
Looking at my subdirectory of scripts, I noticed that one of the AOTC scripts had the credits at the end, but most of the others didn't. Try looking up all the scripts you can find, and see if you get lucky.
Otherwise, It's likely you'll have to type them up on your own. :(
I wonder if Laserman ever found that last hard drive with the remaining ROTJ files. ;)
So, under one video template you get 23.976 and 2.0, and under a different template you get 29. and 5.1 audio? I've never used the studio version, but I know it's more limited than the regular version. This might be one of those limitations. I would try going on the Sony forums and see if someone there can help.
Well, I thought I'd come back by and see what you guys thought of the new Disney acquisition. Seems I arrived just in time to see this exciting new project.
Hard to say which way this will go. I've heard that Disney is litigious, but maybe they'll see the value of re-releasing the original versions and do it themselves?

The trailer on vimeo looked great. Can't wait to see what else you guys have done with this 35mm print. I can't remember the last time I've even watched the OT....never in the mood for it anymore. This would be a lovely change. :)
I won't buy a BD player. Media players and hard drives are sooooo much easier and media-friendly.

Vegas 8.0 (or at least my copy) doesn't give me control of the AC3 bitrate

To be honest, I have no idea if a video - edited or otherwise - could be re-inserted into the original DVD structure. I would imagine that Ifoedit might make this possible. I guess it would all depend on what program you are using to re-intergrate the DVD files. I know that DVD-Lab Pro can recompile designated parts of a DVD project, so that you don't have to redo the whole thing for a few small changes, but that's a project created from scratch.
Worst case, you can try just adding those four seconds to the end of the video.
What, exactly, are you editing the video in?
Yeah, I found it last night, and am still at 0% this morning. I guess it's a bit dead. It'll be interesting to see how this version of Star Tours compares to mine.
Anyone got any links to the Star Tours preservations? I have a version that I tried to color-correct, but it still never looked very good. Too many blown-out details.

ibleedspeed, are you using the templates in Vegas? First of all, your project settings should be:
Template: NTSC DV Widescreen (720x480, 29.970 fps)
Which would give you:
Width:720
Height:480
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.2121
Then, when you render, select the same template: (Project settings are independent from Render settings.) Click on the Custom button and go to the Video tab to change your codec.
Tell you what - render that section out with VDub and send it to me. I'll see what I can do. (Huffy would be nice, though I've seen talk of another Codec called Logarith(sp?)) Removing stuff like that was easy in Combustion because I could steal from the frame prior or after. A static image poses a different situation, but it's worth a shot. I'd hate to leave something like that in the final version if it could be helped.
