R2D2's Beeps in Return of the Jedi

But I must admit that it is a little strange that R2 displays much more fear at Jabba's, when it knew that Luke wasn't really donating them and that Luke had a plan, than on Dagobah, when R2 really had no idea what to expect.

I think being in the dungeon and seeing the droid graveyard and droids being tortured may have spooked him.  Even though Luke wasn't really donating them, the droids could have still been disintegrated for any reason.  Surely R2 would have been if he didn't learn some respect.

I think the fact that there will be real, tangible Stormtrooper armor in the film (unlike the prequels, where they were ALL lazily CGI) is enough to get anyone super excited.

I expect to still see just a few of the OT-style armor in some of the unimportant outer reaches of the galaxy (let alone for nostalgia), but I definitely agree we will see the next evolution of their armor. And we can safely assume when they designed the new changes to the armor, they took note of their humiliating defeat to the pint-sized Ewoks - no way do they want a repeat of that circus act :)

I wonder if the rebels may have also re-purposed some of OT armor as well as some Destroyers and other Imperial space crafts?  We may very well see the Rebels commanding some Star Destroyers in the ST.  Rumor has it Star Destroyers (or something similar looking) will make an appearance in Episode VII... nothing confirmed, of course.

I'm sure the trooper armor will reflect it's lineage, but also 30 years of change. If they went back to McQuarrie's original designs, I might cry out of joy too!

Wow, that would be awesome.  They seem to be using McQuarrie's original designs for inspiration based on the leaked photos, so I wouldn't be surprised if at least the helmets look like his original design.  I think that would be a nice tribute to him as well.

I'm confused by this quote: “I’m really excited and you know, people keep saying that I liked the last trilogy and I did. I liked 1, 2 and 3. But I liked them as an adult, when I watched them they didn’t give me the same feeling I had when I was seven watching them for the first time and that’s fine."

Is referring to the OT as the last trilogy?  The wording is confusing.  I can't tell if he's talking about the OT or PT and then talks about liking them as an adult, but didn't have the same feeling when he first saw them?  Doesn't really matter in the long run, but it just confused me.

I wonder what made him cry specifically?  The Falcon set perhaps?

Star Wars: Episode VIII to be directed by Rian Johnson
Time

Cool, I'm starting to feel better about him directing Episode VIII.  I will definitely be checking out his films, particularly Looper, which I've never heard of until today.  In fact, I never heard of Rian Johnson before today. :-P  I just hope Williams will still be willing to score the following films with different directors.  Seems likely there will be a different director for Episode IX.

I'm not familiar with Johnson or his work, yet.  Do you think he'll continue using practical effects and real locations or rely more on CGI and green screens?  Granted, we don't know how much CGI is in Episode VII and no doubt there will be, but the Abrams team has put a lot of emphasis on using more practical effects and real locations.  Also wonder if the next two films will be shot digitally?

Word has it that Rian Johnson is writing and directing Episode VIII and writing a treatment for Episode IX.  Other articles  say he's writing and directing both films.  I am posting it here instead of creating a new thread since it hasn't been confirmed, yet.

Well, the last picture of the desert could be real, but doesn't reveal anything.  There has been a lot of misinformation lately... first Harrison sprains his ankle, then it is broken and now his whole leg is broken which was apparently caused by a garage door and not the Falcon door.  There are now supposedly pictures of Daisy in a Darksider costume with face paint.

Supposedly, 5 more production photos.

Is it just me, or does that second last photo show a speeder that looks way too much like Zam Wessell's?

 I thought the same thing...
