The Clone Wars (2008 animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

I watched it. . . Mostly anyway. My experience watching it in a nutshell.

I tuned in a little bit after the first few minutes. I hardly remember what happened in the beggining becuase, I was busy with other things. Anyways, I finished my work about the time Yoda and, the Clone Troopers were in the cave. I kind of got bored becuase, the scene was set up to be mostly about tension. "Will Yoda and, the Troopers survive? Will the droids gun them down?!? Wait and, see dear viewer!" That sort of thing. However, I (and, we all) know Yoda survives and, I didn't care much for the Troopers. All tension for me equaled gone. So, I got bored of watching what felt like a cutscene for a video game and, I turned on my X-box and, played Burnout 3 road rage mode. After taking down lots of cars I returned to watch the Clone Wars series. It was interesting watching Anakin and, his apprentice. I kind of wondered about Padme though. What her thoughts on Anakin's apprentice were that sort of thing. Is that covered in the movie or, did I miss a scene with Padme? Anyways, I liked seeing that Masked Jedi guy and, the saving of them by Anakin and, his apprentice.

All in all, I give the first two episodes 3.4/10. My enjoyment is greatly suffered by already seeing ROTS and, knowing that apprentice girl won't be refrenced at all... Until the Special Edition 5.0 High-Def, extra shiny picture of Vader on Blu-ray box set with exclusively rare "film" frames of the CGI scenes included comes out that is. That and, I think there was something about an ion cannon... I was about to give it a 4 but, any show that gets me bored enough to start doing something else doesn't deserve "almost average quality" in my mind. I don't know if I'll even watch the next episode. I totally would've been more interested in this show had it came out before ROTS though.

What replaced the BTTF ride?

The Simpsons ride in Universal California and, Universal Florida. Not sure about the Japan Universal.

Despite it being a wiki page, I've seen other sources. Too lazy to look em up though. I hope that they do the multi-tour thing that they've always advertised as a joke, though; that would be fun.

...Crap! Now I got to go through the whole 5 stages of a Death thing again!!

Star Tours can not be closing! I will not hear of it! NEVAR!

That's it screw George Lucas and, his new visions. He makes Star Tours dead!? Well, then he's dead to me!

What a sec, if he's dead his last project will probably go through afterwards. Damn it. I don't want him dead I just want him to not take away Star Tours! Can't he just give us Star Tours!? Please. I'll make a petition!

*sigh* Nevermind, the petition wouldn't have the years needed to work. . . To save Star Tours it'de take something faster... What's the point?

Well, something was bound to take the ride away from us. If not George Lucas, then time or, weather would've been the enemy... *sigh*

Okay, I went through the five stages..... Yet, I'm back to anger again.... Thought that was supposed to be a cure all damn it!

G4tv channel to air Star Wars stuff Next week (thread updated for the next two weeks)

I can't wait for Icons (I refuse to call it Game Makers) airs the Star Wars episode again. Do they show Filter now too?

They had tried to get Filter cleared to air for the block but, rights issues prevented it. --What I say after this is not official-- I think it might have something to do with them interviewing truely random people in EB Games stores.

Video Games - a general discussion thread
Time
Oh, cool, video game thread. I forgot this forum had one. Anyways, I'm just stopping by want to inform you about G4 rewind. Basically, it's a block of G4's old shows the reruns are back due to fan demand. Recently I made a thread about the Star Wars stuff that aired yesterday but, got no reply yet, plenty of views. Anyways, ..... Tomorrow a show called Portal airs. Portal involves MMORPGs into a story based show. The later episodes contain Star Wars: Galaxies into the storyline. So,... if you want to understand what's going on before that watch G4tv tomorrow morning.

The G4rewind block airs 9:00 am - Noon EST. Times vary depending on time zone. check your local listings!

Also, I'm thinking of getting Ninja Gaiden II. I liked the first one.

How come they still can't get the 'physics' right?

Who says they can't? The problem with realistic physics is that it's realistic. A lot of times, what looks real doesn't look cool at all. Leave the realism for real life. If you want realistic physics, go watch 2001.

The thing is that they've advertised CGI to look real since it started. "Look how real we got this CGI thing!" "Look how real this CGI thing looks!" When they realized that people were opening thier eyes and, seeing how bad lots of CGI looked they changed thier tune and, said "Look how stylistic this CGI looks!" "This new CGI is so cool look at this!" Therefore, it's thier fault that were all argueing about wanting realistic CGI since, that's what they advertised in the first place!

It would be cheaper to buy Mark Hamill and have him act out scenes whenever you wanted to watch.

Considering how much he must be hurting for work, I don't doubt that. However, wouldn't the movies be stored in a raw, uncompressed form without any encryption? Wouldn't that be easy for computers to read, even far down the line?

Depends on how computers advance down the line. If computers start reading data crystals(like in B5) or, something like that exclusively good luck watching something off your HDD.

I could not stop laughing at Lee "Fatass" Adama, but how'd he lose it all after a few hours in the Gym? seemed a tad unrealistic.

It was a tv reset button that did it. The tv reset button is a device in tv land where it can cure litterally anything. From a time travel experiment gone wrong, to weight loosing faster then it should. Anything wrong? Tv reset button can fix it!

The Dark Knight (Batman Begins Returns Again)
Time
On the subject of The Mummy, I think they should've ended with "The Mummy Returns"/"The Scorpian King" that series doesn't need to continue.

On the subject of Katie Holmes. I just think that she's a B mabye B+ actor in a movie with a bunch of A/A+ actors. So when you see her scenes they seem worse then they really are.

Um, yeah, that's pretty much all I have to say. I'm a bit tired and, can't type more then the following on the subject of the love interests in the Batman movies.

In Batman, it was interesting the angle of Catwoman and, Bruce Wayne's love interest being the same.

In Tim Burton's Batman it didn't seem that neccessary but, I didn't mind it. The whole Vicki Vale being let in via Alfred escort to the Batcave threw me for a loop though.

In Batman Returns I barely noticed the love story angle when I watched it as a kid. Mostly becuase, I liked the story of the Penguin better back then. That and, I was impatient in waiting for tv fight action at the time I was introduced to Returns and, sometimes fast-forwarded to the parts that I liked. Though, after many re-watches I liked this love story. I also liked the interesting one-liners she had.

In Batman Forever, holly really freaking obvious love story Batman!

In Batman and, Robin, well, meh, Bruce's bride to be dissapearred after the first act and, he was flirting with cheating most of the time. Could've cut the bride to be out and, it would've been better.

In Batman Begins, I agree with C3PX seemed more a friendship then a love interest.

Oh, yeah and, on the new Joker's looks, I'de have to see how it looks on the big screen for my Judgment.

Young Indiana Jones Chronicles DVDs

It was boring. I am still excited about them coming out though, it has been so long since I have seen them, and I never saw every episode. I would like to see them again, and catch the ones I missed. I would never buy them though, so I'll have to wait for someone I know to get them, so I can watch theirs.

If you don't want to buy them then, watch it on tv. It's been airing on one of those history channels... Or at least I think it was Young Indiana Jones, the episode was about Indy being in Love and, talking in different languages. I kept falling asleep during it though... If you've got digital cable check the listings of the History channels.

How did you envision the prequels?
Time
In the early days of the Empire to be honest. When I originally thought of what could have happened before "A New Hope" after noticing it was labeled "Episode 4" I just thought the early days of the Empire was the story beforehand. Keep in mind when I was watching it as a kid I didn't notice that line about the clone wars at all. Since, almost every time I rewound the tape I was just to anxious to watch that I'de often start it in the middle of Leia's speech. Anyways, as a kid I just thought it would take place in the early days of the Empire. Plus, I expected more backstory for Alderaan. Hell, I thought the majority of it would be on Alderaan...

Leia: Luke, I think you need a tic tac. *Leia get's closer* Yep, definitely need a tic tac.
Luke: If I need a tic tac so bad why did you get closer to me sis?
Leia: Oh, well, I, um, .... Damn it, why'd you have to ruin what we had by telling me anyway?
Luke: Well, I thought you'd want to know. Besides, didn't you know already?
Leia: I suspected, I was in denial, deep denial.
Luke: Besides that, I thought you liked Han.
Leia: He might have died. Had to say something, couldn't exactly say "See ya later."

It looks like the effects guys used your Alderaan explosion.

If I'd had a drink in my mouth, I would have spit it out!

I know you used a Stargate shot (from the 200th episode for your version), but this one had the double explosion, angled praxis shock wave, and everything.

After seeing your post I looked it up on youtube. I found this teaser trailer is that the explosion your talking about?

TPM : During the end of the movie thoughts(slighty censored for a general reading audience) "WTF is up with that celebration scene!?! The Funeral was a perfect ending!! That's it when I get the video I'm editing that part out.... Wait, how do I get video on my computer? Well, scratch that idea. Oh, there trying to copy the first movie... Wait, WHY!?!?!?"

AOTC : End of movie thoughts "Eh, it was better then TPM."

ROTS : End of movie thoughts "Best of the prequels."

Article in the LA times about movie theaters
Time
On the subject of bringing kids into rated R films. I think it's pretty short-sighted just to dissallow kids in it with a parent just becuase, they might be a potential annoyance. It's one thing kicking them out when they do become an annoyance. It's another just not allowing them to go. Simply becuase, the majority of times I've had annoyances in the theater it was by some peoples well over 18. Hell, when I saw Hannibal I was under 18 and, I was annoyed by the nervous laughter of the audience. The rest of whom were adults(yes I was the only kid). I was the only one staying quiet in that theater.
