Incidentally I was recently watching some Deep Space Nine again. I came upon a scene wherein Garak refers to two romulans as "pointy eared". The other Cardassian in the room went into a monologue towards Odo about it's racists nature. Odo was like "Shut the fuck up and, just say what you mean. Stop taking the piss and, get on with it!" in words okay for television broadcast.
Said scene reminded me of this thread.
