Firefly: Browncoats Unite (Science channel Firefly cast reunion special)
Time

It airs tonight.

I will also mention that the two episodes that air just prior to the special itself will contain pop up facts throughout the episodes. So if you like those fact pop ups you should probably set your DVR to record the two episodes before the special itself. It's listed as "Firefly: Special Edition" on some guides.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome (release date) I would have posted this earlier if not for the error messages!
Time

Looks like just a couple of hours after my last post here they uploaded the next 11 minutes. http://youtu.be/jdisGiivP9c Yeah since this is basically being uploaded in approx. 11 minute bits I'm just going to wait until most if not all of it is uploaded to watch it. I'll still update this thread when the next ones are posted though.

Nice that it's finally going to be seen, but SciFi will probably find a reason to program more reality shows than actually air it. They didn't even celebrate the 20th anniversary of the channe this yearl.

Meh that's because Sci-fi channel no longer exists. It's Syfy. Some weirdo wearing Sci-fi channel's clothes after it died. Sci-fi channel's spirit is currently haunting the Science channel and ME(Memorable Entertainment) tv. Bringing airings of The Twilight Zone, Star Trek TOS, and Firefly with it.

The board at SyFy all deserved to be abducted and anally probed (<span style="text-decoration: underline;">BY ALIENS FOR IRONY SAKE</span>..phew!)

Well the Syfy boards have been like this for several days including the day that the BSG Blood and Chrome news broke:

Anthology series such as Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits

I watched the whole original series of The Twilight Zone fairly recently and really enjoyed it. Then I tried The Outer Limits and didn't make it through the first season. I might give it another try or I might just skip ahead to Night Gallery.

Can anyone recommend or comment on these 80s anthologies?

Tales from the Darkside
Twilight Zone
Amazing Stories

Well I haven't watched too much of the 60's Outer Limits episodes. I'm mostly going in random in the 90's series. Though there are a few episodes that are sequels to previous episodes in the 90's series. So it kind of pays to go in order unlike what I'm doing... So I don't know. Maybe I'll list some good completely standalone episodes for you to check out. Later on though got some other stuff I want to watch soon.

As for the 80's Twilight Zone I've seen a couple of episodes where they basically took the script from an original Twilight Zone episode and just shot it in color with worse acting. Either that or they changed the ending that changed the whole idea of the episode itself. For the most part I'd suggest making sure the episode you're going to watch wasn't already done in the first Twilight Zone. Granted though I haven't seen much of the 80's Twilight Zone. I've been mostly watching the original.

Star Trek: Renegades
Time

I wonder who else they'll be adding to their cast. Since the only ones listed right now are those that they knew they could contact beforehand. Personally I'm interested to see if they get someone to play B'Elanna's and Paris' kid. As it's set 10 years after Voyager and Klingon kids grow up faster (see: Alexander) she could have stuff to do on one of the ships.

The episode with Shatner as an astronaut for "Project Vulcan" is one of those kooky coincidences, isn't it?

I actually hadn't gotten to watching that eppy when I made that post. I had heard about it though. Watched it this night. Pretty good. Funnily enough when I was watching it the stream momentarily froze just at the moment at the start when he mentions project Vulcan. It's like my computer couldn't take the coincidence!

Anyways what I meant was that I randomly watched "The Quality of Mercy" which has a Star Trek actor in it. Then I watched "The Voyage Home" which just so happened to have another Star Trek actor in it. Then I jumped to the Season 2 Episode 16 The Deprogrammers lo and behold another Star Trek actor! Then I found out that the previous "Quality of Mercy" eppy has a follow up episode called "The Light Brigade" so I watched that and what do you know a Star Trek actor is there too! Then I watched at random again "The Conversion" well, well the streak continued and another Star Trek actor was in there too. Then I randomly went to the episode "Inconstant Moon" and that broke the random Star Trek actor findings in the Outer Limits episodes for me.

By the way here's a link to the episode with Shatner if anyone wants to watch it.

One thing I've been wondering about is what this means to other in house Disney productions. Are they going to bother with a Tron Legacy sequel or that Black Hole remake now that they have Star Wars?
and why not?

there's still a demand and audience for those.

tron influenced me more when it came to getting

involved and interested in computer graphics,

than star wars did.

Yes, but when the suits and accountants get involved, it may boil down to which franchise will make the bigger pile of money and sell the most toys? ;)

I definitely don't think they would shelf Tron 3 because of acquiring Star Wars. They've already have enough invested into their Tron revival of sorts they did for Tron Legacy. It'd simply be bad business to let that investment stagnate and die before they got all the profit they could from it. I'd be more worried for remakes of things/new projects that are currently in the works. Those are the things that are likely to get delayed so that they could focus their funds into their newly acquired franchise.

I have not read the NJO except for Vector Prime, and concur that it's a terrible idea, after thinking about it a bit more. Better for the EU to become a parallel universe or something. I like Joss but I don't think he's an appropriate choice at all. Hopefully they don't give it to Abrams, either. (I mean the 2009 'Star Trek' was pretty good and actually pretty 'Star Wars'-y but...I dunno. Something just doesn't seem right about that prospect. The tone? I dunno.)

JJ Abrams is committed to Star Trek though as not just the director of the new movies but also the person who gets to approve what is and isn't official Trek. So if they do offer the new Star Wars films to him he'd have to choose between control over the Star Trek franchise to do with what he pleases or just being a director on a film or three of something that he's been a fan of for a long time. Who knows maybe the amount of control he currently has over Star Trek may be enough for him to refuse directing the new Star Wars movies.
