Idea: An unofficial Original Trilogy Bittorrent tracker? (The PIF Tracker?)
Time

I was just thinking, it seems to be that there are a lot of technically capable people running around on these forums…and it always seems like somebody’s trying to get something uploaded at Myspleen…so I was thinking that, wouldn’t it make sense if a tracker were set up specifically so people could share their edits and film preservation projects?

Obviously, there shouldn’t be any official ties to this forum, but I just think it would make a lot of the projects on this board far more accessible than if they’re just paid-forward via snail mail, or occasionally upped to Myspleen. It seems to me that there would be plenty of people interested in supporting such a venture, and that it would just turn into one big happy orgy of project-sharing. And it would loosen up Rikter’s queue quite a bit, and cut down on the bitching at Myspleen.

So am I just high, or does this seem like a good idea to anybody else?

Info Wanted: Blade Runner Fans...
Time
Just a thought--

Everyone should check their local county and university libraries, especially since most libraries have interloan programs that allow people to get a hold of books held by other libraries in the county, or in the cases of colleges, other universities in their state system. People that should really be on the lookout are those that are in colleges with major film programs.

I checked the UC system catalog, but came up with nothing. But keep looking...

***The Official ANGRYSVN UNAUTHORIZED COLLECTION*** Release Thread
Time
Jerclay:

There were three versions of CE3K:

1) The theatrical version, which ran for 135 minutes and featured the ending seen on DVD and television today
2) The Special Edition released in 1980, (132 minutes) which featured new effects that Spielberg didn't have the cash for when he made the movie, had new scenes, cut a lot of other scenes out, and featured shots from inside the ship (which most fans, and Spielberg, disliked).
3) The Collector's edition (137 minutes), which combined scenes from both versions, and restored the original ending. This is the version on TV and released on DVD.

The laserdisc in question features the 2nd version.

Edit: And I just want to note, I would like to get a hold of this...Rikter, any plans to add this to the upload queue?

The Thief and the Cobbler: Recobbled Director's Cut (Released)
Time
For stress relief, I recommend finding a passed out hobo, and beating him to death with a piece of rebar. After that, everything just seems to come into focus...er, anyways...

Just take it slowly. If it gets frustrating, just walk away from the project for a while. Work on something else, and eventually, something will pop into your head.

By Superman, do you mean the Making of Superman stuff? Me want. Badly.

BTW, would you ever be willing to rip the Jack Lemmon commentary from your transfer of Glengarry Glen Ross and up it somewhere as an MP3 file? The DVD is easily available, but I'd like to hear what Lemmon had to say...

Edit: And people are now finishing the ginormous torrent...

Let's hope people don't just freeload the film...

Dude, nobody finished yet. What happened was somebody was selectively downloading a certain chunk of files, finished that chunk, stopped the torrent, set it to download another chunk of files, and restarted. Anytime somebody finished a torrent, whether or not they actually downloaded the whole thing, the tracker registers that as a completed download. So just chill...

Idea: for an edit of Batman Begins
Time
I'd have to agree with DarkGryphon--I'd like to see the talented editors devote their time and resources to a film that more desperately needs editing than Batman Begins. Secondly, there isn't a whole lot of extra material to work with, and the movie is intended to stand up as its own narrative, rather than serving as a prequel to the other films. If you want to fix something, fix the POS films that were made in the 90s--Greencapt has already taken care of Batman & Robin...
