Harmy's Despecialized Star Wars 1977 - Color Adjustment Project for v2.7 (released)

Hoping the forum can help me on this. I’m using Toast on a Mac to burn Towne32’s recoloring of Despecialized Star Wars (2.6). I downloaded the BDMV. When authoring using toast, it presents the video as THREE files:

  1. 1981 ANH crawl
  2. 1977 SW crawl
  3. the remainder of the movie

What I’d like to do is either create an autoplay of 1977 using Toast. Do I just delete the 1981 clip and select “play all items continuously” to do this? I can try it, but I don’t want to waste a blank disc if it fails.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I’ve never used Toast, but I think you might want to delete the ANH playlist and not just the m2ts file. But I really have no idea.

If you wait until later today, I’ll be uploading an MKV of each of the separate crawls. They’ll have the lossless audio files from 2.5, as well as various new or updated non-english dubs that Catbus has provided me. The MKV can be converted to blu-ray with tsmuxer (if you omit a few audio tracks to get to fit on a single layer disc).

I’ll look into converting the MKV for ESB Grindhouse to MOV. I tried to do some of their tutorials, and it was working pretty well. I’ll definitely look at more of them and see what I can do. I’d love to see this project come to life.

I would recommend simply encoding a sample so you can learn pfclean if that is your goal. Since there aren’t details about how this distributed work type project is going to function (or that Grindhouse would be the source), and a lossless encode of the whole film is going to be like a terabyte.

This really looks great - So happy to have this version now!

Just a quick question - I burned it and popped it in my player but there doesn’t seem to be any chapters on the disc. Any plans to add chapters later? Couldn’t figure out how to do it myself 😛

I didn’t include them. Didn’t think anyone actually used those anymore. 😃

It’s early still, so you might not know. But do you think the ships in the battle of Both will be rotoscoped from Grindhouse?

Are you pretty happy with what can be done with the grindhouse color?

Both who? 😃

Hah, autocorrect. I actually already fixed rotoscoped from ‘rotated’ and remuxed from remixed in another post.

I just downloaded your BD and it looks very nice. I haven’t had a chance to watch it completely yet, but I did notice an audio hiccup in the transition from the Crawls/Flyovers to where the Tantive IV is shown flying toward the screen. It’s just a second pause in the audio, but I thought you would like to know. Perhaps it’s just my system (playing on an HTPC with VLC), but if others are experiencing this, you might want to try and fix it.

Yep. Could be the system. I’ve tested it in PowerDVD, Arcsoft, PS4, and PS3. That gimmick was the whole point of the BD idea, so I would’ve actually not released it if it didn’t work on something I tested it on. People have been able to get BD crawl branching working ‘with hiccup’ for years now, so the only thing new about it here was that it should have been seamless. It was 100% smooth on all of those platforms.

Let me know if you get a chance to try it on anything else. VLC BD support is unofficial and imperfect. It didn’t even start for me in VLC. When I tested in MPC, the playlists with different crawls were available, but I think I forgot to test the branch itself for smoothness.

Anyway, I appreciate the feedback about it.

For Sale: Selling 30+ Years of Collection
Time

Those VHS prices are very high and the vinyl is absolutely outrageous. I know we’re in the midst of a ‘vinyl comeback’, but that means that collectors know to go to discogs.com and look and average/median going rates for every pressing of every album ever made.

Example: https://www.discogs.com/sell/item/310752496 (sealed RoTJ, not just ‘never played’).

I still think you can make great money off of them, but it wouldn’t hurt to be more realistic. Or, if there’s something incredible about the specific pressing, make that clear and don’t just hope that people will throw money at the word vinyl.

I think Darth Mallwalker covered that in the bug reports thread (page 1 or 2)–there was a GOUT sync issue, two frames toward the end, but I think it was in a workprint, not the final version.

Wasn’t that Jedi?

I think he may have listed some for each film, but I don’t recall precisely. I think most of his errors are sort of self contained GOUT mismatches, in that shots are off by a frame but the sync error doesn’t persist throughout the film.

SW 2.5 has an extra frame at Yavin base, but it’s generally ignored since it only means the last 20 minutes are a frame off. ESB, I’m quite sure, is off by a frame very early on, perhaps even the crawl, which is why there were instructions for remuxing with a time shift when 2.0 first came out. The answer should be in this very thread. Somewhere.

Having watched the trilogy through two or three times in the last few weeks with all these new versions coming out, I think I’m going to hold off on watching this one all the way through until the weekend before the TFA Blu-ray comes out. I guess you could call it a tolerance break.

Can’t really overemphasize how much I agree with you on that one. I’ll be giving it longer than that, probably. I honestly haven’t seen RoTJ 2.5 straight through like a proper film yet. Though I’ve only seen ESB once in the last six months, so I’ll probably be eager to watch 2.5 when that comes out.

I just noticed that signature. What an offensive piece of garbage.

Yeah, what an absolutely absurd grasp at straws. She was not sexualized in that movie at all. An attempt to invalidate opinions (as well as the character and actor) so as not to deal with them directly (if for some reason, there were a need to).

And to put it in a signature is the forum equivalent of driving around with your finger up and your horn on. Yeah, you seem like you’re probably protesting something, but it’s hard to tell what exactly that is when you’re trying even harder to seem like a prick.

Such sexist nonsense.
