STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **

Who? Snoke probably. But an angle from afar that leaves their height ambiguous could potentially have it be Luke too.
What and why? I just enjoy the concept of ending with Vader’s castle. It’s both commemorating the end of Anakin Skywalker’s story, and giving us a small amount of foreshadowing that he could still have influence on the future of Star Wars.

Sounds like a fun scene to edit as a stand alone project, but it doesn’t seem like it belongs in Rotj. Especially without a clear idea of who, when, or why.

You think? I really liked the colors of Empire 2.0.

Me too. I think it has the best color of the Despecialized series. I think a quality complaint should have some sort of specific information in it. “way more” doesn’t mean anything in the context of something that is or needs to be fine tuned.

a request for some assistance with Despecialized from Harmy…

Harmy said:

Guys - I could use some help - I remember some time ago, someone was working on a shotlist for the SW movies and I can’t find it. But what I’d really need is someone helping me catalogue all the shots that need despecializing and making a system that will make it easier for me to keep track of the shots and what they need done.
My idea is this table, where I could keep track of the progress on all the shots:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NwFnvrRp3CnyDOdr9W1__8PLBGwH8WOKkl8mjke8LQs/edit?usp=sharing

So, would I find volunteers, who would help me by going through Doubleofive’s galleries and putting all the shots down in this table and looking them up in GOUT and BD and putting in the timecodes?

When this is done and I start working on v3.0, the plan is to keep the table public, so you guys can check on my progress and every once in a while, when all shots in a sequence have status Pending Final, I want to post the sequence as a work-print and only after I get positive feedback on it, I will mark the shots as final.

This will make you guys more involved again, like in the old times, and it should help keep me more motivated. 😃

Please send him a PM if you can help…

This might help:

http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Shot-List-Spreadsheet-v0505-6-films-publicly-editable/id/13403

I used it to generate a shot list based on frame numbers, which allowed me to write scripts to sort each reel into shots, and generate EDL files that could be used instead of automatic scene detection in programs like Resolve…

Yes, I think that link was posted shortly after Harmy first asked for some help. It’s certainly a great resource, and your scripts sound like they would be extremely helpful.

As for the request for assistance, I feel bad that Harmy hasn’t gotten any responses yet. I would like to, and may indeed be able to at some point in the future. I just don’t have the time right now, and would not want to commit to it if I’m not able to see it through. Best of luck, Harmy. And congrats again on the big shot film work. 😃

Hi SteveE,

If you are looking for the NJVC ISOs, this is the wrong thread. Go here instead.

If you are having trouble with ROTJ 2.5, it isn’t in ISO form. There are MKV, AVCHD, and NTSC DVD5 versions.

In that case, you need to follow this guide for the procedure and go to this guide for the relevant links. It won’t be as fast as using torrents, but the file integrity will be much more reliable.

Can’t help with the Demonoid issue.

If it’s some old torrent from demonoid, he may have been talking about RotJ 1.0, which was only available in avchd iso form.

Well, my plan is to mostly just clean the print shots and intercut them with the DC where necessary.

Hey, Harmy, glad you’re tackling this one! I guess you’ve already seen Movie Censorship’s detailed comparison between LD and DC, but just in case, here it is https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=541751

Yeah, that’s certainly the most thorough comparison out there at the moment. There are probably changes that it doesn’t mention, but none that I have seen anyone discuss yet.

Either way, it serves as a starting point, and following it would most likely account for the vast majority of necessary shots being accounted for.

I checked with Amazon Instant Video, sadly, in spite of what they list, the so-called 1971 version is in fact the 2004 cut. I knew it was too good to be true 😦.

Apparently I just will never see it.

Isn’t the work in progress Grindhouse version still floating around?

Yes, it’s on myspleen. 720p and has Laserdisc frames replacing the missing ones.

Yeah, but with no more invites, you can’t get onto that 😉.

Yep. Still thought it was worth mentioning given how many people here have accounts.😃

Trying to make my own fan edit! any tips on video conversion software? Audio extraction?
Time

First of all, I would use tsmuxerGUI to demux all of the tracks of interest into separate ones.

The tracks that are not working are very likely DTSHD ones. I don’t believe Premiere will accept those. You can convert the channels to wav/PCM using audacity, I believe. I don’t recall if that will give you lossless or just core audio. Then, you can import the individual channels into Premiere.

If you don’t care about lossless audio, and ac3 is fine for your purposes, you can just directly export a multi-track ac3 from audacity and use that in Premiere. It should be easy to work with in the editor that way.

Basically, the only ones who can legally distribute anything Star Wars are Fox (ANH) and Disney (everything else), without something in writing from the appropriate party saying otherwise.

For most of us morality isn’t tied directly to legality so we don’t care about non-profit redistribution of what the rightsholders don’t want to be bothered redistributing - and they might even look the other way - but they don’t really have to. We’re fortunate that they have done so so far.

I thought it was all Disney now, after they bought almost all of Fox.

I believe it still requires some sort of approval process, first.

I just want to watch this editions, it look a very complicate thing to do, honestly until now I got some virus.
I find the Blu Rays for sale, and I read the people from this forum very angry about it, they say something like subscribe to our forum and we will help you.

Here I am…

45 dollars or an entire evening at the computer trying to download a file ? Now I will go to bed with nothing.

So if you did this great job, why is so unaccessible ?
It’s so hard to make a button “download the despecialized editions” ?
It’s like a labyrinth… for what reason ? this is not legal, if you make it harder is always illegal.

There are a few points to make. I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt that you’re not just here to advertise the virtues of paying scumbags for burned discs.

Downloading rar files and using a password to extract them may seem like a labyrinth for you, but it’s far from an uncommon thing to do, and countless people have managed. But people around here will be happy to help troubleshoot, if you’re having difficulties.

Perhaps you would like even more readily accessible links. Perhaps just a Despecialized Website with a big red ‘download now’ button. We would all like something like that. As things stand, the links are easy enough to come by. Making them ridiculously public would result in them being removed almost immediately. There are a few generous people here who have uploaded files every once in a while. I’m sure they would not like to do so every 36 hours, and I think you’re probably not offering. Directly linking them from this site would put the site at major risk. It has existed for well over a decade without incident, and I’m sure Jay would like to keep it that way.

On a side note - There have been a few people here lately who seem like they’re really trying to hammer home the point that it’s so worth it to just shell out some money because computers are tough, and there’s got to be a better way!. It’s a bit fishy, but maybe it’s nothing. But if people are trying to sway opinion to try to normalize that nonsense, I think they’re going to have a bad (brief) time here.

the other 2.6 entries are on spleen thanks to other people. he has been going through and uploading copies himself, but I think he is still working through prequel uploads.

I think he will get to it. But you can grab esb to get an idea of if you like the general style.

The changes will be things you would incorporate anyway, most likely. Might want to ask permission as I don’t know if I’ve seen people use his versions as edit bases before.

4K restoration on Star Wars

But Why Disney request the print of the Original copyright print…

I think there doing something…

Also remember a few years ago when the Original teasers where restored and shown a comic con… where there any updates on that where they the original original trailers or the theatrical rerelease trailers.

Disney may well be working on a restoration.

I just think that the LOC thing is BS. They have no need of a beat up old release print. It sounds like a fan trying to spin a story after having read about the LOC print. Makes it sound like they know about a specific detail, and leads to people believing and repeating it. But it doesn’t really make sense, IMO.
