I bet it had to do with the colors of different lights
I went to the National Air & Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center's Open House today (the second occurrence of an annual event), and got to see the original 11ft studio model of the Enterprise sitting right in front of me in the Conservation lab, not even in a glass case. Talked a little bit with the head conservator who's working on it, and then heard a talk from the curator who pushed for it to make it into the renovated main entrance gallery in DC in the next few years.

This is the best thread I've ever created.
Yes indeed -- the best thread I've ever created.
Sure, in this universe
Which way?
I made a more accurate timeline.

Nice to see the movie being used for educational purposes. I learned a thing or two about editing playing with the CAV LD back in college on my own.
Can one really call the FX analog, when a computer controlled camera was used, and some of the tactical displays are early CGI?
Beside what 005 said, because they were composited w/o computers on film. Even if one of the elements you're adding is computer generated, it's generated onto film and then composited.

If this article is anything to go by:
http://www.cinemablend.com/m/new/How-George-Lucas-Star-Wars-7-Ideas-Were-Used-By-Disney-69271.html
What?
If they don't care about Lucas's treatments, no way they're going to care about his special editions.
There's a huge difference between an unused script and a thing the public saw.
oops wrong thread

If I remember correctly, Vader has been used as a placeholder for multiple pieces of concept art.
This.
There's also been rumors of a flashback scene
I really love all the coverage of George's reactions to this stuff.

Does anyone remember the Virtual Edition website that was around when Ep. 1 was in production?
Heck yes I do. In fact, it still exists. No one much visits anymore, but the guy who took over after Roderick left is still producing images for their own sequel trilogy, imagined years before the official ST was conceived.
On the left sidebar, you can still get to some version of the VEs for the PT.

Star Trek Into Darkness - a much worse rip-off of Wrath Of Khan. But at least it's better than JJTrek
Wait, what?
The first part of his statement is undeniable, but that last part...
whaaaat
quoted posts
antenna
ugly, poorly made image
stretched woman
That could have been a text list.
Well the tone of that teaser is...a little weird.

It's now possible to recover sound in a video by analyzing the movement of objects within the video. I hope somebody uses this for old silent movies, just for fun. Also, for Star Wars, it may be possible to recover some of Prowse's original dialogue on set. That's neat.
Given that the sound recovery is all done from high-speed video, which is necessary in order to record vibrations at the frequency of sounds... I don't think so.

The TFN community is kind of delusional I think. Not that I'm not also delusional, but I don't really understand how someone could honestly think that there's a reason to let the original versions of Star Wars rot away into nonexistence (which I know one specific TFNer has said before)
I believe some have said that if Disney acknowledges and releases the OOT, then it will "interfere" will the saga AKA George's vision. Even when the OOT is released on Blu-ray, I'm guessing the 2011 versions (or newer versions) will still remain as official.
Sure, but who really cares about what is "official"?
Well if you are solely interested in OT then official canon is of no concern. However if you are interested in sequels then that might present inconveniences. For example, if for some reason they wanted to have Anakin's ghost, they might bring Hayden back in order to follow the canon. I gave the worst case scenario but still. :)
My original point was releasing the OOT wouldn't interfere with anything because it's likely the 2011 are the versions that Disney will refer to. Disney needs to draw the line somewhere as to what is official and what isn't. And there are a lot of fans who do care what is official. Personally, I don't care what is official. I just want the OOT on Bluray.
However, you have a good point about Anakin's ghost. The same can be said for the ending of ROTJ, if the ST acknowledges it. In the OOT, they had a small celebration on Endor. In the SE, it was more widespread and made it seem as if the entire Empire was wiped out across the galaxy or, at least, at the various places we've seen throughout all the films. It seems the ST has to acknowledge the "fall" of the Empire in ROTJ in some fashion considering they're still around.
One night of rioting around the galaxy would not mean the end of the entire Empire.
Possibly not but but the death of the Emperor and Vader, the possible temporary overthrow of the Empire and a huge celebration are the last moments we were left with before the beginning of the ST.
True. The opening crawl will...
guys we're in the wrong thread.
