It's all been downhill since The Adventures of Lando Calrissian anyway...
It's all been downhill since The Adventures of Lando Calrissian anyway...
Sadly Frink, it only took me two tries to remember his name: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ki_Adi_Mundi
Right, but that doesn't mean all puppet Yodas are bad. It just means that, in their attempts to make a slightly younger looking Yoda, they did an awful job. I think that replacing him with a CG Yoda for the Blu-rays is a great idea.
But, just like the Clones, that doesn't mean it wouldn't be appropriate to sometimes replace him with a good looking puppet. I'm just not sure it's feasible.
To the folks who want to see the "No, I am your father" surprise properly preserved:
What do you do with Vader referring to Obi-wan as his former master, knowing the feeling, that tremor in the force, and their conversation during the duel on the Death Star? I assume that you can do away with the post-lava scenes in ROTS, but even excising those doesn't solve the problem.
I suspect this requires a lot of time and money and professionals, however...
Replacing CG Yoda with a real puppet?

Try to resist......
Well that's my point. I shouldn't have to struggle to focus on the intended focus of the scene.
Jaitea, as much as I like the concept of those, they're so visually busy once in motion that my eyes are strongly drawn to them, rather than to the focus of the scenes.
I think, for this to make sense and look right, you're going to have to have the thing rotate towards the fleet as it passes behind Palpatine.
Also, it just sort of looks too crisp?
The music when Vader is dying is incredible. I can't remember that scene feeling so emotional til now - but it ought to. The rest of the ending still feels a little rushed, but not too bad.
Oh, also, I never realized until now just how perfect the line "Nothing can stop that now" concerning Vader's death is, in light of his reasons for choosing the Sith in ROTS.
I think the transition back to the present happens far too late. It's a flashback, which means its narrative shouldn't have anything other than R2 and maybe 3P0. The stuff with Vader and Leia really feels out of place in that context.
The new shot of the escape pod leaving might need work, but I love the concept of it!
The Purist seems to be available on The Pirate Bay

It will now only have a general "thanks to everyone at OT.com....etc" sort of thing.
Oh good. IMHO you should do this for all three films... the long long long long credits of forum-names on ANH:R is pretty ridiculous.
I know that Ady hasn't done any work at all on the audio yet, all audio in clips is temp, etc. That being said...
I've been watching Building Empire (currently on part 13 on youtube), and there have been several moments of "Restored Score", where portions of Williams' score were excised the final cut of ESB. I suppose that's director's choice, but I quite like some of them. Any word on Ady's thoughts on restoring some of the missing bits of the fantastic score?
I am so excited for this edit, I could write 888 pages of posts talking only about how excited I am!
Make it a multi-part rar, not a zip, and upload it in parts somewhere.

I doubt you'll find anything close to sounding as good as ABC's Empire score for SW and Jedi. The only way to do that is to take one of ABC's SW or Jedi score restorations and make your own isolated score track with it.
Hang on - Wrong thread, I guess, but ABC did score restorations for the other films?! I did not even know!

No matter what i do there will be complaints.
When i get to the point that i'm pleased with a shot, i should stop there.
I'm pretty sure that some people think i can perform impossible things.
True statement.
Best advice you can give yourself, probably.
Unfortunately, true again.
Although you are losing some background detail, the brighter ones have washed out flesh tones. That suggests, to me, that the tweaked ones are more-correct, and that those background-details, brought out by the brighter versions, aren't really supposed to be visible. It's not about having every detail visible, it's about having a good balance and a good visual look - something which obviously doesn't include washed out flesh-tones.
Ady, I think some kind of movement has got to happen in his forehead or his eyes. It's too still here, and it was distracting. If it's not doable, then obviously this is a better option than all other previous Emperors in this scene, but some movement above the mouth would really, really help.

Good. Honestly, your spelling is pretty decent in that post. It's stuff like this, though, that I think really bothers folks.
Im
dum
Cuz
idk
Its
Ppl
Try "I'm", "dumb", "cuz", "idk", "It's", and "People" next time, and that will help a lot.
Oh sure, now you suggest that.
Yeah, those sabers look fantastic to me. Luke's saber isn't the same color as it seems to be in ANH, but I think that's a reality of the films and not something to discuss here. The tweaked ESB shots look great. I'm pretty darned excited about all this.
I love the real-trooper idea. I'm hoping this is one of those things that makes it into Ady's PT:R. You know, in the 2050s, when he gets to those.
Have we talked about the idea of trying to fix the music?

it's important to remember that no film was ever designed to be watched frame-by-frame.
