Super Star Wars (and 'Super Empire Strikes Back' & 'Super Return Of The Jedi')
Time
I would probably put Ninja Gaiden and Probotector (I think the Yanks call it 'Contra') up there. Never owned Probotector, but I managed to finish Ninja Gaiden 3 times with all the scarabs. So hard to push through, but once you figure it all out, it is so rewarding. Still haven't tried 'Master Ninja' level yet, and NG Black hasn't come out in Australia yet either.

Found this quote from Lucas about changing the Original SW
Time
The badger must stay. 'Nuff said. And I find AWK fairly tolerable these days.

As for complaining, hell, I can see myself still complaining about Lucas' lack of vision in the future, whether I get my OOT from him or not. The fact that we have to specify the Original Original Trilogy is reason enough for me. I will definitely feel less angst towards him, though.

Favorite SW theme
Time
I don't know how to place this in order, but I got out my soundtracks just to make sure...and THIS IS HARD, let me stress that much

LIGHT OF THE FORCE (basically, a variation of the Force theme, when Luke is lighting the funeral pyre) - this literally has just moved me to tears
YODA AND THE FORCE (when Yoda is lifting the X-Wing out of the swamp)
IMPERIAL MARCH (how could you not pick it, really?)

But I really do love it all. Even though I hate the PT, DUEL OF THE FATES deserves a mention, but even more than that Han and Leia's romantic theme is really stirring.

THE Most Awesome Scene in Star Wars
Time
Yep, IMHO, there were only two scenes in the PT that elicited a noteworthy emotional response from me:

- Anakin/Darth Vader crawling out of the lava, Obi-wan's "you were my brother" spiel
- The binary sunset of Tatooine (mostly because it's a rip-off of the ANH scene)

A lot of other stuff just pissed me off, but that's not the kind of emotional response I want from a Star Wars movie.

When I watched ESB today, Yoda lifting the X-Wing and "I am your father" sent tingles right through me. Always will. Those are my two favourite scenes bar none, and in that order. I must admit, though, I do find the Luke/Vader/Emperor scenes to be very powerful as well, especially when Vader turns back.

Empire '97 SE
Time
You know what? I don't really think about this often, but I honestly don't have any real problems with the '97 Special Edition of Empire Strikes Back.

The only thing that I can think of is just showing a little too much of the Wampa. I think it was more suspense-ful when you could see less of it. Having said that, it doesn't look too bad seeing the whole Wampa.

Why did he have to add the bloody shuttle scene and overdub Fett's voice for the DVDs? Damn you, Lucas!

Back in Time

I chose the 70s, mostly because the music was so brilliant back then. I was a child of the 80s, but the music was absolutely horrid - gross synth sounds, bubblegum bass, and drum machines instead of real people playing real rock music. The 90s was also really good - probably the decade I remember most vividly.

But mostly 'cause of Led Zeppelin.

Interesting transcript from online chat about George Lucas on how Empire turned out...
Time
Check this out:

How/when did Lucas come to believe that Kershner ruined Empire? I ask because (1) a lot of people (me included) believe it's the best one, and (2) even after that, he still had someone else direct Jedi. (Thanks for taking questions, by the way. Very interesting chat!)

Dale Pollock: Glad you're enjoying this chat. Kershner said he would never work with Lucas again after his EMPIRE experience, and I think Lucas felt the same way. He felt Kershner went too emotional in EMPIRE, and put too much emphasis on Vader's struggle, and not enough on Luke's. It just wasn't the movie he would have made (I think many of us are glad he didn't make it!)

And now GL is saying that the SAGA is Anakin's story?

If I could ask GL another question, it would be this:

If you hated Kershner's approach to EMPIRE, why is it the least edited of all the special editions?
