I think it's kind of misinterpreted a bit. Mohammed was apparently a great general at some point, but the only times he engaged in warfare were in defense of Mecca and Medina. I'm pretty sure that's right. So it wasn't 'turn the other cheek' material, but it was at least Yoda-style combat teachings:

A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack.

A Jedi being a Muslim, of course, and the Force, being, erm, Islam...

Yeah, after being without Cadbury for so long, I nearly went crazy. I mean, Hershey's was tolerable, but I just went crazy without the taste of Cadbury, you know?

A bit of backstory I might need to explain: I'm from Australia, and from December through to February, I was visiting friends in Japan and America.

So, everytime I was in a Walmart buying groceries or whatever, I just had to buy a block of Cadbury chocolate, even if they only had the small blocks! The saying rings ever true: you don't know what you've got 'till its gone. I hardly ever ate Vegemite at all before, but now that I'm back, I've been having Vegemite on toast every morning as part of my breakfast.

Ummm...yeah dude, at the time you posted this, I was in a local hard rock band for four years. We broke up just before I visited Japan and the U.S., and now that I'm back, I'm auditioning with a few new bands.

Grievous was an *attempt* at foreshadowing Vader's future state. A being, more machine than sentient. The coughing ruins everything, though - forces too many similarities between the two, and reduces Grievous to nothing more than a caricature (even though he was only a ring-in, disposable villain from the beginning of ROTS).

I suppose my argument kind of nullifies the job of director altogether - but it is kinda bullcrap. Granted, it's pretty clear GL can't or doesn't direct. But these guys get paid to act and they get hired because they do it well - any other normal person who goes to any other normal job has to just go there and do it well, without anyone directing them, and if they do a crap job, they get the blame for it, because they did it.

Having said that, yes, I do understand that small scenes in a movie contribute to a bigger picture; a story with themes, etc. So it is important for a director to be there and help the actors understand how their dialogue is part of that. But the quality of a separate performance by an actor in its own right should be completely independent of the ability of the director to communicate the bigger picture. An actor should at least be able to understand or perceive *something* about their character, their dialogue, and their plotlines, and act accordingly. I mean, if a director doesn't give an actor adequate direction (or any at all), the actor should be able to at the very least draw upon his/her own ideas to achieve his/her performance.

Bottom line: an actor shouldn't be an empty vessel, waiting to be ordered around. An actor should bring his/her own life to the performance.

What pisses me off, is that Christians didn't have anything to do with this Mohammed cartoon, and the response has been to draw an offensive comic of their God and Saviour. The guy who drew it obviously had no dirt on Jesus either, and had to make up that disgusting sexual act in order to slag him off.

I'm sure any true Muslim would tell you that killing people is not the answer to anything. From what I understand of Islam, peace is one of their highest ideals, and the only instance in which violence is acceptable is in self-defense.

The thing with Catwoman was, that the whole thing was a conceptual, directorial, and acting disaster.

And I honestly... really truely honestly... feel the same way about the PT. The exact same way.

Okay, alright, I do sort of agree with you, but I honestly think that Catwoman was a lot worse.

Conceptually, the material that Lucas had to work with was very good - the problem is that he didn't handle it properly, nor did he seem to understand it. Directing-wise, my theory is that he simply didn't do it at all. And as far as acting goes - I think it's kind of poxy that actors seem to need a good director to act well - it's their freakin' job for the sake of Sam! It's like saying a rock band needs a good producer to record an awesome album - which may be sadly true in some circles - but there's no way you can tell me that Led Zeppelin needed any help to be as great as they were.

There is a point to what I'm saying, somewhere...oh yeah, if an actor acts poorly in one movie and well in another, and we put the difference in performance down to the director, isn't that still saying something about the inconsistency of the ability of the performer?

In the cosmic scheme of things I'm sure Hayden realizes he has to take his lumps for the PT films he was in. Whether he chooses to grow beyond it... well, that's any actor's choice. After all, it *was* just a job.

That one is awesome, one of my fave scenes in Jedi...

From what I can tell, that's the fight between Luke and Vader on Bespin, not from ROTJ - Luke's got a blaster, and I remember the stance too.
